With a drop rate of 5.5% for the Wither Skulls, the probability that he'd miss getting one that many times in a row is 8.8%. That's some pretty serious bad luck.
They clap at every achievement and its especially hilarious and cute at the beginning.
Enjoyable run. I've never seen all the achievements, so this was cool. And FearfulFerret and his couch crew are boss.

This has to be one of my favorite runs. FearfulFerret did good. GG.
But if the drop chance is 5.5%, that means in 2/3 runs you should get it in the first twenty tries.
The chance to not get it within twenty tries should be ~32.26%, not getting it in the first 30 should be ~18.32%, not getting it within 40 should be ~10.4%, not getting it within 50 should be ~5.91%, and so on.
I didn't count exactly, but that seemed a bit unlucky to me.
That moment when you dig down under your feet, see lava, and have your heart sink as fast as your fall.

FunnyVideosShowPL On Amazon you can buy a R9 380 for the same price or a few more dollars/pounds. Trust me, get the R9 380, it performs a whole lot better than the 960.

The Biome achievement they mention is slightly different on console, I think. As of the newest update you have to visit 17 of the 40 biomes.

As a matter of fact when I started playing Minecraft on the X1 I used the tutorial mode to knock out some of the easier achievements because it gives you the items necessary to do them.

When it came out on the 360 one achievement was awarded almost instantly and wasn't patched for a month or two. Taming five wolves, for this I was on survival peaceful and I ran into a pack of five wolves which popped the achievement.
I’m pretty sure that there’s a lot of different achievements that are on console but weren’t on pc like the iron man achievement and the leader of the pack achievement aswell
Even when the run goes dry for the Wither farm, he makes the run interesting to listen to. I really appreciate his stream presence.

an interesting easter egg in the achievements, and one of my favorites, achievement get is a reference to shine get from the Japanese translated to English version of super Mario sunshine where it says shine get when you get a shine

***** Because the goal is to complete a game at its possible quickest time, any time a glitch was patched, its fine to go back and use it as it was in the game at one point.

What is "save the animals, kill the frames"?
in Super Metroid, near the end of the game, you can kill animals and save some time - or you save them and waste your time. Some donations have messages like "Save the animals" or "Kill the animals" and the one with more votes wins.

So a lot of the challenge in speed-runnning Minecraft (in terms of the goal of this speed-run at least) is just finding the right seed that has everything in the most convenient locations.
However, unlike actually performing a speed-run, knowing the best known seed is easy seeing as you can't really keep that secret.
No. Everyone uses the same seed unless you're in the category that uses random seeds.

It said in the opening of the video that it was a fixed seed, so he had played through it before hand like any other game.

I feel like his duplication was really unefficient because he could've checked for more diamonds in the temple and should've duped the 8 diamonds before making the piockaxe.. I just think it couldve saved him at least a minute or 2.

i don't understand... for the ghast achievement, you can deflect using a sword and where your crosshair is is where the fireball will go... easier than with bow.

It's a Super Metroid thing. At the end of the game you can choose to save some innocent critters from the exploding planet, but this sidetracks you, so you lose some time. In a speedrun, not saving (ergo killing) the animals is the more efficient option, but technically saving them is canon, so they've made it a donation incentive. People donate to do one or the other and the one with more money donated wins.
I guess this video is not applicable anymore because of all of the new "advancements"

What do they mean by "kill the animals" ?
The escape scene at the end of Super Metroid has a room filled with animals along the way (the same animals that teach you what walljumping and shinesparking is), so GDQ has a bid war to see if the runners will go to that room and save the animals or not

Ender_Kills FTW Its better to have a stack of obsidian as opposed to an inventory full of lava and water buckets, he created portals quite often so it's better.
Ender_Kills FTW not to mention he still has to get obsidian for other items.

It's SET SEED speedrun.
Minecraft All Achievements uses a set seed, so the map is the same every time. As a result, the run can be routed rather than trying to adjust to a random seed.

Zero1two3 in one of the games they r n at the end you can either save the animals and waste time or leave the room, killing the animals, and saving time.
At the end of Super Metroid, the planet starts a self destruct sequence and you need to get to your ship to end the game. On the way, there's a room full of animals, and going into that room lets the animals escape (saving the animals). But that's slower than just running straight to your ship, so in world record attempts, the animals are ignored. GDQ has a bid war on every GDQ to decide if the runners save or kill the animals.

Robeon Mew All you have to do is drop the items, save the world, reload the world and pick them up and AT THE SAME EXACT TIME press alt+F4.

am i the only one who finds this speed run very dumb because he uses duplication glitches and creative mode
+wiebe van dijk Speedruns in almost all games involve glitches. Glitches are things that are used to speed it up. Some games would be way too long to speedrun without glitches, such as Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. There are games with no glitch categories, but usually all categories for a game involve glitches. Glitches aren't considered cheating because they're just part of the game, and some glitches are actually just really hard to pull off.
The item he spawned was important to the run. I don't exactly remember what it was, but it would take a lot more farming to get, so much that it would go over the schedule for the marathon. This would cause everything to be skewed off course. Because of that, and since this isn't a world record attempt (these marathons are more just for entertainment, not competition), it was more than necessary for him to spawn the item. If it wasn't a marathon, he would've just restarted.
This is a speed run. There are no limits. Just complete the game as fast as possible.

NarloxGaming This is a marathon speedrun. There will be other runs just after this run, so if there is not enough time, he will need to speed up the process by "cheating". There is an explanation at the beginning of the video.
