    Would you mind giving more specific detail about the experiences you had in audit that were "commercial parts." Ad also any specific questions you got during you interviews going into FP&A and how you answered them, please.

      Here is an interesting question that I sometimes pose to candidates interviewing for FP&A roles: tell me about the most challenging Excel project you worked on. Tell me which areas of Excel that you used to accomplish those objectives and how you stretched yourself in getting there. The answers are extremely telling on where a person is in terms of Excel skills and general problem solving skills.

    Hi Paul, nice that I found you cause I am sharing similar experience of switching from audit to FP&A Analyst role. The transition is hard for me, do you have any books that you think might help me to learn the job better. Thanks a lot.

    Hey thanks for the video, very insightful. I've seen a lot of videos about moving from practice to industry - but absolutely no information the other way around. Do you have any words of wisdom for part qualified/ qualified accountants leaving industry for practice?

    Hi really enjoyed your video. I am also a career changer from teaching finance to becoming a financial analyst. I would like to start anACCA qualification, become part qualified so that I can apply for entry level roles. What advice could you give me with regards to how to enter the role?

    Thanks for the video, its pretty useful as i am currently looking to move to London and make the switch to FP&A as a CPA with audit/financial controlling experience.
    Would you say its a competitive field to get in? And how does the hours compare to working in a firm?

    Thanks for the video. Just one question, please - Is an Accounting degree required for this role? (I have an experience of almost 3 years as a controller with IBs {I have an MBA} and want to know my probability of transitioning into FP&A)

    • @PaulHarrisYoutube
      @PaulHarrisYoutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, you dont need a degree - you may need a accounting qualification though - but if you have experience (as a financial controller) and can show your accounting knowledge in interview you should be alright.... probably depend on the role you are going for and in what company

    Is your salary better than as an auditor?

    • @PaulHarrisYoutube
      @PaulHarrisYoutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes - bonuses are generally more generous outside of practice - i also think industry will pay about 15% more for baseline. however in terms of progression practice offers more structure - you know that in 3-4tears you will be made manager, then 4 years later senior manager etc, where as in industry you dont have the same assurances
