helt otroligt . att ens komma på tanken att försöka när den såg ut som den gjorde! Bra jobbat!
made to last forever
sounds really smooth
Excellent ingenuity!
For packets of cigarettes, our yard shunter would do this for us in the severe winter, there would be a yard full of Trucks ticking over, warm and ready for work
Wow...that was really neat.
NICE TO KNOW THIS!!
Haha, yes. I love oldschool tricks like that.
Sounds sweet!
Thats why they say "VOLVO FOR LIFE"
Very good .. From Iraq
It's far better for the engine than Easy Start! Still use it here to get the oldies running on the cold mornings... !
Man all that thing needs is a little armor all !
People used to light a fire under the engine or hold a burning newspaper in the inlet. Ah the good old days. I have an MAN engine that has a flame ignition system in the inlet. Like a diesel blow lamp, its very effective.
its Volvo L495 :) manufactured in 1927 - It had a 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine rated at 28 hp (21 kW
Your method is less harmful to the engine - well done - even if it can be a bit 'hair raising'. -- Personally I was waiting for the door to fall off ..........
@kazimann I had to do similar once with my VW Polo when the injector froze (drive it on a really wet day just above freezing, then park it, sudden change to snowfall and very bitter air = trouble)... Luckily they don't put them in place of the carb in the old "dustbin lid" airbox any more.
Makes them less liable to freeze ... but damn near impossible to forcibly warm up if they do! The "stick a burning torch up the intake" trick should still do some good, though.
Now that is an interesting way to cold start a diesel.
Thats why they say "VOLVO FOR LIVE"
That would make a bad ass rat rod!
nice ride man....really pimp
back.. det ser verkligen ut som om den inte har varit igång på väldigt många år :D
how does this work? should i do it with mine?
very good ....
Fire!
who needs a air intake heater??? just use some open flames on the end of a stick and start her up
Ah yes, the original glow plug.
damn i knew any car would still work no car is junk to me unless the motor and half the car is gone
sounds nice...whats withe the fire....heat up the charge?
runs like new execpt for the smoke but did it fall appart when you moved it ?
Mr; Diesel must be proud!
Its the same thing as a preheater after your turbo. Just how the pioneers did it!
Did you put it back on road???it would be sweet to see it restored to formal glory
it is volvo n88?
Nice video, too bad with all the pissed off comments.
I think it started with someone saying something about American motors not being able to do this which sparked a full scale war of sorts.
what did you do with it
It is Volvo N86?
hvor i norge står denne volvoen da?
motoren hørtes jo helt fin ut!
Fulfil Euro 10 :) I'd love a movies like this one ;)
Volvo N88 ??
Cool.
That's a cool trick, and that old engine sounds good too! Are you restoring the truck?
My comment must have been an answer to mitchellgonzales, I know a little bit about diesel engines including that some of them mas a flame heater in the in the intake originally. For instance my ol' mans MF 35 with Perkins 3-cylinder, if its VERY cold you turn the key the other way and hear a "boof" when its activated. Its a glowing spiral with a diesel line connected to it to create a flame. But starting fluids isnt healthy to diesels, you can even crush the pistons. And dangerous with a heater.
Volvo were the first to turbo trucks or am i wrong?
What type of truck is this, beyond being a volvo?
That engine sounds surprisingly good, shame the rest of the truck is so rotten.Time to find a replacement cab?
Дивно! Видео на пятерку. Рекомендую посмотреть другим .
ΤΟ ΠΡΩΤΟ ΦΟΡΤΙΓΟ ΤΟΥ ΠΑΤΕΡΑ ΜΟΥ.
Poor old thing 😢
@ cmscania1971 As it wouldn't start with or without one anyway ;)
someon needs to introduce "EASY START SPRAY" to these chaps
you can not try to run it?
well, not that you started it, what's next? :)) it does not seem like it's going anywhere...
@acebars Actually volvo trucks is a separate company now.
the metal zombie is ALIVE with body Very RUST
Wow
I like host comment,lol perfect!
Se a gerdau ve ate lambe os beicos !!!!
volvo viking?
Den kommer väl godkännas med blankt papper vid Bilprovningen :P
may i get the turbo? XD
seriously, may i ^^
maby you can't tell by the look but i think the engine corroiding is a small prolblem to them
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
this method it's actually common to all diesel engines older than 12 years from now ... ps ... i think that today you can't do this any longer cause of the million plastics mounted on the engines ...trough doe ...they should be able to start the same today !! and for those who want to restore trucks like this ...don't bother , there are many "just to buy as new" in the middle east , greece , africa ....
...old Cat skinners would light a bon fire under the oil pan...go have a cup of coffee...then come back and fire it right up...
SMOKIN....
back from the death
wow
motor antigo era foda
@shashlasse i know
Невероятно!!!!
Volvo 444: Introduced 1943 with split windshield...
Ford Deluxe: Introduced 1946 ... with split windshield.
Sorry, what was your point again?
Why does he put fire in the turbo?
I have never heard of that so the fire ignites the diesel in the cylinder?
its to raise the temperature of the intake air, diesel fuel auto-ignites easier with higher in-cylinder temperatures. glow plugs provide the same effect.
@Afghanen Which explains why the great Volvo has been bought by the Chinese?? (P.S. I am strictly not American)
now try and drive it out
hey that could be used to aid startinf my f-350 v8 diesel engine with put damage the fucking glowplugs ! hahaha
@cmscania1971 no cuz it wouldnt start at all
Well.. It's the most commonly spoken language in the US. lol
Engine outlived the body and frame. The body and frame probably outlasted most modern trucks.
no way
thats what i call a zombie :P
Volvo using VW diesel engines in the cars, since way back in 1970
hehe, en norsk motorvärmare ;)
aint no yanky cummins shit here
Northern Europe (Scandinavia) in a nutshell.*
You mean it's out of diesel fuel
Actually that isnt very healthy to a diesel engine..And if it doesnt start the way its supposed to,something must be wrong with it,right?
Meh, I've taxed worse than that.
Eastern Europe in a nutshell.
your..please
Lol!!
@jackzvid Nothing wrong with American engines, you`re comment shows how little you know.
what y'all fixing to do with that truck? is y'all fix it up and customize it since these custom truck shows are coming up? cuz that shit will be awesome having truck that old fix up and chrome to death with straght pipes sticking straght up that will probably win trophies or money or both beleave me y'all need to look at these truck shows on you tube y'all might get some ideas my favorite show is the 75 chrome shop truck show that's held in florida every year and i'm fixing to go watch it right now.
why they just dont die like my new car
Just goes to show u cant keep a good work truck down.
@Afghanen Most American engines are shit, except older Ford Equipment.
Word "poxy" not found in vocabulary
But not a Volvo
Nice. Paint job, new tires, few nuts and bolts, and really for full time work. Good job guys.
