Nice! I loved this video. I lived in the bay area when I was a little girl and have fond memories of Chinatown. I'm so glad that I found your channel! I have been binge watching while I recuperate from surgery. Thumbs up!!!
Every time i've tried to go there, the line would be crazy long. I've been going to ChiMek in Santa Clara and one of my friends says their sweet and spicy wings were just like San Tung's.
There's also So's in SF. He's the disgruntled younger brother/younger son of the family whom owns San Tung . Major family issues, but he still make great wings.
Great to see the SF videos coming out. I've never been to Capital, but my mom goes there for the sweet and sour pork so it has to be good. Next time you guys head out here, for dessert you should definitely try to get the egg tarts at Golden Gate Bakery in Chinatown. They usually sell out around 1 and locals line up each morning to get their flaky and hot tarts. Wonderful video guys! P.S. I got sticker shock from the fortune cookies. My mom always got a big bag of "mistakes" fortune cookies for $2. Some taste and freshness, just not always in the perfect fortune cookie shape.
Shinichi you are very handsome wearing the black glasses 👓. You and Satoshi are an adorable couple. Thank you for the video. I love sweet and sour pork as well. 🐙
Great video! You've highlighted two of my favorite childhood places too! We usually get the bags of flat fortune cookies... the freshly made ones (still warm) are the best!
I hope you get a chance to check out the museums and Japanese tea garden in SF. Wish it were June/July... you could have visited a few of the many Obon festivals in the Bay Area. love you guys and can't wait to see where you venture next and all the yummy foods you find and eat!
I'm so glad you had a nice lunch in Chinatown while you were here! It's funny watching this on a day when I had dim sum for lunch. My lunch was delicious, too! Thanks for the wonderful video, and I hope you are both doing well. Hugs!
You guys are my favourite food and travel show, in fact you're the only food and travel show I watch! That's pretty high prestige in my world lol. Also, maybe Satoshi could fulfill his fortune by having you guys come to Toronto! That's expanding right?
We also have a second Chinatown in the Richmond district along Clement & Geary, plus a lot of Chinese businesses in the Sunset along Irving Street, including San Tung which is famous for their wings.
Aiiiii this makes me want to visit again! i am only three hours away but never make it over to san fran.. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you two!
That soup appetizer they gave you sounds good about now since I’m kind of not feeling well right now. Everything else as well looks very good, thank you for sharing.
All your food looked mouth-wateringly good! I swear I could imagine how it tasted. It's been years since I've last been to that Chinatown. Thanks so much for sharing this restaurant with us!
All I can say, "yummylicious!" Am not a fan of crispy noodles either! Saving the restaurant address. Haven't been in San Francisco for quite a long while! Thanks for the vid guys!
Hi Tabieats🙋🏽♀️ I am so very excited that you both are exploring San Francisco. I would suggest going to San Francisco's Japantown. I believe it will be much more authentic than the one in L.A.😊
That's a surprise that there was no lunch special. Those prices are closer to dinner prices. I always liked salt and pepper squid or pork chop, but that chicken looked tasty.
I know that is not how He is but Satoshi often looks like He is upset, when He is just relaxing but once He talks you realise He is just a really nice guy, but until He talks I often think He is upset about something, lol. All the love from Quebec guys!
Omg i used to eat there many times n ordered the same dishes That place is still there. I moved to vegas in end of 98 - wow how amazing u guys ate there. Thx 4 this 😊😊😊😊
This is Cat from Brooklyn NY!🐱 Looks like you had a great time! The noodles and the sweet and sour pork are more Americanized Chinese food dishes. I usually get a rice plate or maybe some congee! However, the best Japanese restaurant that I ever went to was located in the main San Francisco Chinatown! You know that there is another Chinatown in San Francisco that is not for the tourists and also there is one in Oakland! A wonderful video! I love you guys!👍❤ 💝🍚🍲🍚🍜🍚🐅💖☄☮🐱
Joey Karate💋🎂☕ This is Cat from Brooklyn NY!🐱 No I'm in alot of pain! I'm going for surgery tomorrow actually! I wasn't going to answer anyone but one of my late husband's was named Joey and he knew karate! 💝THANKS! ❤💓💞💜 👍😉💋🐅💖☄☮🐱
That sweet and sour pork looked amazing. My mom used to make it (looks very similar to what you had) and I have her recipe from her Chinese cooking class in Okinawa - the teacher was Ho Sip (I love that!) - Satoshi - you use the word "sakuto" - what does it mean please? I am so ready for a good Chinese meal!!
Yes, I had my meal twice in the same restaurant when I travelled to SFO. They have good food!!! The salt and pepper chicken wing and Mongolian beef got me asked for another bowl of rice.
I've been eating at Capitol for almost a decade. The chicken wings are the best (you can also request extra-crispy). If you guys some back to SF, check-out Boba Guys at Union Square (not far from China Town).
at my favorite asia restaurante are the "crispy" noodles (i guess its pan fried noodles) not crispy at all and i like them very much :) or is there a difference between crispy and pan fried noodles?
sf's china town is pretty much my happiest place on earth. any tourist's visiting should go in to one of the bakeries. they sell dim sum very cheap [3 for $1 in most cases] then buy some smoked meats at one of those places on stockton [duck and pork!] have a feast in your room after all that walking. you can then get up early and eat some italian pastry in north beach, along with a capucchino. then more walking!
That was awesome Brothers! The last time we visited SF Chinatown, we literally drove straight through-parking was horrible! The next time we visit, I want to make it a point to stop. The sweet and sour pork, and the S&P chicken wings looked amazing! I always order S&P pork chops, whenever we eat at our local Chinese restaurant. Oh, and the fortune cookie factory! Wow! That was so cool to see! I honestly want to visit soon! Thank you for sharing. The way that you capture the sights, the food, everything.....is absolutely amazing!! ♥️
Hi Sis! Parking and driving in Chinatown is the worst. I try to avoid it when I can, or I will usually walk or they public transport instead. It's just too many people in a small space.
Sheena L.......That’s so good to know sister! Thank you! Josh graduates in May of 2019. Since we’ll be headed up that way, I really want to stop in SF for a couple of days prior...... I REALLY want to make it a point to see you, brother Ryan, and sister Erin too! ♥️
Mindy's Mom It would be so wonderful to see you then if possible. San Francisco really is a wonderful city. I know I'd love to see you, and I bet Sheena and Ryan would be happy to see you, too. Sending hugs to you, sister!
the sutter street parking garage is pretty close to china town, you just need to walk through the tunnel. also north beach garage on green across from the funeral parlor and police station. that's the least expensive one.
If you can, go to the fortune cookie place. Their rent has gone up tremendously, from $1,400.00 a month a couple years ago to close to $6,000 a month now. SF is getting so expensive to live in and I don't know how long it will last. It's a fun place to go and I've used this place for birthday favors for my children, where they will create a fortune to your liking.
While the fortune cookie is a San Francisco creation, it is believed to have originated at the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park, created by Makoto Hagiwara. Here is some more information about the origin of the fortune cookie. studyenglish.at.webry.info/201512/article_24.html
You know the fortune cookie was created by Japanese immigrants to California. They're a version of Tsujiura. Who first started making them is up to debate. I mean that place you went to in LA, Fugetsudo, has been claiming they they were one of the first. The window in the front of their store displays the equipment.
According to the book "The Fortune Cookie Chronicles," fortune cookies were actually invented in Japan, brought to America by Japanese immigrants, and taken on by Chinese Americans during Japanese internment.
That looks awesome. I like authentic chow mein (aka pan-fried noodles). DO NOT order chow mein in an 'americanized' chinese restaurant. You will get this gloopy gloppy mess that is horrible! You want lo mein if you want the soft noodles. Glad you enjoyed your time in Chinatown!
Lady Luck lol that reminds me of the first time I dinner at an Americanized Chinese restaurant. I ordered chow mein expecting pan-fried noodles. Boy, did I get a surprise!
Haha! The same happened to me. I ordered chow mein and my boyfriend at the time was "Are you sure?" I had only ever had true pan-fried noodles before so I was like silly white guy of course I'm sure. Yup. Big surprise. LOL
Hope you tipped that waitress that stopped you at 3 dishes ;0) Just joking, no tipping needed in Chinatown restaurants! Curious, is there tipping in Japan?
I like Satochi's definition of mild..."gentle" ☺
"I don't like crispy noodles but I will try" - That's the spirit!
I love Sf Chinatown, controversial yet important Chinese-American story! Glad you enjoyed! I enjoy both of you!
So happy u were able to visit San Francisco! Hope you are able to come back when it's safe for everyone 🌟
That's cool that you guys went to Capitol restaurant to eat. We always go there and order the salt and pepper fried chicken wings. So good!
I could just listen to Satoshi talk for real :) love the accent
Nice! I loved this video. I lived in the bay area when I was a little girl and have fond memories of Chinatown. I'm so glad that I found your channel! I have been binge watching while I recuperate from surgery. Thumbs up!!!
So happy you enjoyed this video! We loved making this one.
Thanks for the reply! Y'all need to come to Austin, Tx, where I am from, and enjoy tex mex and texas style bbq!!
You have to try San Tung’s wings on Irving!
Yep, so delicious!
Don't go telling our secrets in the comments section! It's already too crowded ;)
I was just going to say this. Those are my favorite wings.
Great to see the SF videos coming out. I've never been to Capital, but my mom goes there for the sweet and sour pork so it has to be good. Next time you guys head out here, for dessert you should definitely try to get the egg tarts at Golden Gate Bakery in Chinatown. My mom always got a big bag of "mistakes" fortune cookies for $2. Some taste and freshness, just not always in the perfect fortune cookie shape.
Sheena L.......Sister! I love egg tarts! Golden Gate Bakery is on my bucket list now too! ❤️
Sheena L. Just waving hello to you! :-) It was a great video, wasn't it? :-)
Hi Erin! Hope all is well!
6:15 Satoshi looks so upset and shocked 😂❤
All the shops in that area are super cool too. Definitely a place to spend an entire day.
I hope you get a chance to check out the museums and Japanese tea garden in SF. Wish it were June/July... you could have visited a few of the many Obon festivals in the Bay Area. love you guys and can't wait to see where you venture next and all the yummy foods you find and eat!
Glad you found the fortune cookie factory. That was great fun. When we went there we got the chocolate flavored ones and those are fantastic!
Next time we’ll try those for sure!
Oh man, that crunch of those wings... Definitely going to try that place next time i'm out in SF. Great video, guys!
I'm so glad you had a nice lunch in Chinatown while you were here! It's funny watching this on a day when I had dim sum for lunch. My lunch was delicious, too! Thanks for the wonderful video, and I hope you are both doing well. Hugs!
I love capital restaurant! I get it every time I’m in San Francisco, ITS WORTH IT!
You guys are my favourite food and travel show, in fact you're the only food and travel show I watch! That's pretty high prestige in my world lol. Also, maybe Satoshi could fulfill his fortune by having you guys come to Toronto! That's expanding right?
Next time, go to Eastern Bakery for the huge almond cookie and coffee crunch cake!
"We need to look for dessert." Got a proper laugh out of me. Good work boys.
Looks amazing! Being that I am "next door" to alot of these places (I'm in Utah), I think I'll be planning a trip to Cali! Thank you to you Both!
We also have a second Chinatown in the Richmond district along Clement & Geary, plus a lot of Chinese businesses in the Sunset along Irving Street, including San Tung which is famous for their wings.
I forgot how much i loved those chicken wings in china town. I want to go visit there again
I hope you two whent to the tea garden when you were in San Francisco! My favorite place ever!!!
chow mein in chinese (cantonese) are crispy pan fried noodles. topped with everything from beef and bok choy to seafood to lobster. so good!
Yummy you guys always make me hungry. Thanks guys.
Omg! The crispiness of the wings was music to my ears. Simple in most cases is best. I want those salt-n-pepper wings!!!
I love San Francisco. Glad you guys enjoyed it!
There’s always room for dessert 🍨!!!! Haven’t been to china town in SF since 75! Met Peggy Fleming while there! Lovely lady!!! ☺️
I've been to San Francisco a few times and have yet to get to Chinatown. This was a fun video!
Making my mouth water!! Filipinos enjoy Chinese food too. My Mom loves them because they're so flavorful and fulfilling. Thanks for the vids guys! 💋
TuniiGreyz Gwapanovzki come sf i show u alot more sister9
Aiiiii this makes me want to visit again! i am only three hours away but never make it over to san fran..
Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you two!
That soup appetizer they gave you sounds good about now since I’m kind of not feeling well right now. Everything else as well looks very good, thank you for sharing.
Get better soon!
Wow thats my favorite place in SF!!!!! Good job guys!!!!
I love your videos. I haven’t been to China town in many years. I love it there.
All your food looked mouth-wateringly good! I swear I could imagine how it tasted. It's been years since I've last been to that Chinatown. Thanks so much for sharing this restaurant with us!
Yoshiko, I so want to just take some time to just walk around and take all these places in next time. Can’t wait to go back to LA and San Francisco
All I can say, "yummylicious!" Am not a fan of crispy noodles either! Saving the restaurant address. Haven't been in San Francisco for quite a long while! Thanks for the vid guys!
Did you try chicken feet? My hubby tried them in SF Chinatown. Maybe one day I will try the boneless version ....
Hi Tabieats🙋🏽♀️ I am so very excited that you both are exploring San Francisco. I would suggest going to San Francisco's Japantown. I believe it will be much more authentic than the one in L.A.😊

Great video, guys. Also nice glasses, Shinichi !
Great Video Guys! There are actually 3 China Towns in San Francisco. The one you went to is the oldest and most famous.
Wow had absolutely no idea there were more!
Yes, San Tung chicken is very good. R and G Lounge for Salt Pepper Crab. So much to eat!!
It means light and crispy.
My siblings and I would grab first thing for the fortune cookies and had a big laugh reading the "fortunes"!
Yes, I had my meal twice in the same restaurant when I travelled to SFO. They have good food!!!
The salt and pepper chicken wing and Mongolian beef got me asked for another bowl of rice.
Oh, I didnt know that there's Japanese crispy noodles too. Mind doing a vid on that? Thanks.
Sure it’s one of Shinichi’s favorite foods
I live in the SF bay area and we can buy bags of FLAT fortune cookies at the grocery store.
I've been eating at Capitol for almost a decade. The chicken wings are the best (you can also request extra-crispy).
If you guys some back to SF, check-out Boba Guys at Union Square (not far from China Town).
Hong Kong style chow mein uses the crispy noodles. They're nice and crispy, and get softened by the gravy/sauce.
at my favorite asia restaurante are the "crispy" noodles (i guess its pan fried noodles) not crispy at all and i like them very much :) or is there a difference between crispy and pan fried noodles?

4:00 His “itadakimasu” was less “I humbly receive” and more like “I’M GOIN IN, GIT ER DONE”. Which is great!
the noodles and wings look so good!
i love eating the flat fortune cookies that they have at the fortune cookie factory!
Fantastic I loved this!😉
Chicken wings n white rice is my favorite 😋😁🤗 n shrimp fry rice, n lo mein n general chao ..
GREAT JOB You TWO I HAD NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE SEEMS LIKE In AMERICA THEY NEVER EXPLORE CHINA TOWN AT ALL

the sutter street parking garage is pretty close to china town, you just need to walk through the tunnel. also north beach garage on green across from the funeral parlor and police station. that's the least expensive one.
Great video :) This is actually the second oldest Chinatown in North America . The oldest one is in Victoria British Columbia .
For dessert, the place to go would have been Golden Gate Bakery for the best egg tarts anywhere!
Those chicken wings looked so yummy!!
oh man, the food all looked so good @,@
I had wings just like that in Seattle at a bowling alley no lie best wings I ever had.

You eat so much food. I'm from San Francisco. Fortune Cookies fresh- can't stop eating them. mkw

Who first started making them is up to debate. I mean that place you went to in LA, Fugetsudo, has been claiming they they were one of the first. The window in the front of their store displays the equipment.
That’s so fascinating to us.
tomato beef chow mein with red tabasco hot sauce gives another layer of taste.
Ahh I've walked around SF Chinatown, never really stopped for food
Looks amazing 🙌🏽
Man, I feel like going there now!
Chowmein is the crispy noodle, lomein is the noodle you were looking for. I prefer lo mein over chow mein.
Are you still in Ca?
Nope. This was filmed in November.
Lol poor Satoshi his heart was broken when he said no dessert lol
I’ve noticed a change on your channel over the last year. May I please ask if you’re using a filter of some kind? It kinda makes it blurry to me.
Kitten Ivy you might have to adjust the quality to 720p.
💘 💘 💘 looks so good. 👍 iam hungry now. love your videos guys 👦
According to the book "The Fortune Cookie Chronicles," fortune cookies were actually invented in Japan, brought to America by Japanese immigrants, and taken on by Chinese Americans during Japanese internment.
JohannaEG I read that book! it was very interesting
You guys need to find someone who can show you where to get some good southern BBQ, and maybe take you on a tour of New Orleans. =3

Hope you tipped that waitress that stopped you at 3 dishes ;0) Just joking, no tipping needed in Chinatown restaurants! Curious, is there tipping in Japan?
I tipped don’t worry.:) no tipping is needed here in Japan
Hey what's with the glasses? HA HA
