I can't wait for people to read it! As usual, you took it in a surprising direction. Looking forward to the next event series! (Please, take all of my money. 🤑😂)
I have this book both in physical and digital, i can’t seem to locate if there will be an audible version. I sure hope so. Anyways love the content! Hope to see you going with it for years to come.
I really hope to! Was looking at flights yesterday. I need to figure things out...Cross Plains really is in the middle of nowhere! Might need to connect with people to see best ideas for accommodations and such. But I think if there was a year for me to go, this would be it! I'm so excited to connect with people and hear their Conan and REH stories. The time for my pilgrimage is now! ⚔️
I'm 3/4ths in, and it's surprisingly pretty damn excellent. The 1st chapter worried me, especially how the lackluster battle between Conan and a sabertooth tiger was written. But after chapter 2, the story really became hard to put down. Great new characters are introduced, and Conan is written rather well. I don't know how the last 70 pages I have left will be, but not being a fan of this authors earlier works I've tried years ago, this is a VAST improvement!
Other than the El Borak story, I've never read Lovegrove before. But you're exactly right that things improve markedly after Chapter 1. There was still the odd thing that raised an eyebrow, but nothing that diminished Conan as a character. And once the action moves beyond Eruk, it's great. It's fun...and in this world, sometimes that's all we need. 👍⚔️
@StygianDogs Exactly right. I have last 70 pages yet to read, but I'd venture to say it's definitely bigger and better than Chuck Dixon's last two, a long with Hocking and Sterling's novels. Just hope Lovegrove ends this novel with a terrific ending. Then it's on to Red Sonja: Consumed novel by Simone next.
Thanks for the rundown on this! I was wondering how connected it was to the comic. I've picked it up, along with the other two Titan novels. But I've only read Blood of the Serpent so far. I enjoyed that one, but it had some pacing issues and I thought it went on too long. If this one is a faster shorter read it might just hit the right notes. I'm sure I'll get to it. But im still catching up on the Blackstone series too. So much Conan goodness, so little time lol.
Just as I went on YT to search for this, this was thrown in my face! ;) However I will watch this video with caution, I don't want ANY spoilers what so ever! So you Stygian Dog! Do you need to read all the Battle of the Black Stone to read this?
Watched 4 minutes, thank you so much for making clear that one should stop if one wants a pure reading experience, which is what I want! I did have to scip the part that you read on the dust jacket as well, but maybe I'm extreme in my ways :P
Honestly, I was surprised at how much the summary on the dust jacket gave away. But I prefer seeing a movie without even seeing a preview. So I hear you.😊
I quit buying the Battle of the Black Stone series, because I didn’t like that direction. I don’t care anything about Allison etc. If this novel is more of that, then I’ll skip it. Just tell a straight forward Barbarian Adventure!
Thank you for not spoiling the end of Battle of the Black Stone! Glad you enjoyed Cult of the Obsidian Moon and are pumped for future tales.

I got the first book. Was entertaining
Love the content. Are you going to Howard Days this year? Me and my brother are planning to go, would love to meet you. ⚔️

Good episode! I received the book a short while ago, and will be reading it soon. Thanks for the review.
I only got the first graphic novel volume of the new Conan series.
Love the James Allison stories. Especially Marchers of Valhalla. And this sounds like a book worth buying! Thanks for the great review as always SD!
It's fun enough. But 'City of the Dead' is where it's at! 😊
@@StygianDogs Will you review that one?

Blood and Serpent was my first Conan story which lead me to reading some the original Robert E Howard stories.
Thanks!

I was finishing it up as I saw you and Mark chatting about it on X. 😁

@@StygianDogs Ah phhff schhh!! No more spoiling Sir!
for this price? never
It's fun...but really doesn't measure up to 'City of the Dead'. That's where I'd put my money.
@@StygianDogs I don't know what you guys paid, but I got mine for 17 dollars and that's very cheap for a bound hard cover.
Do you have a link that $17?
@@ragiczzz9070It was on Swedish Amazon.
@@ragiczzz9070 For some reason my respond got deleted. Maybe because I wrote where I bought it..
It was on swedish A-M-A-Z-O-N-

This is a straightforward barbarian adventure. 👍⚔️
Yes, chapter 2 onwards really got very solid, old-school swords & sandals adventure.
