I wouldn't be surprsed if he fully supported diversity hires for animation and uses neo pronouns on Xitter.
I really am avoiding any game developed since 2010 these days EVEN FOR ONLINE GAMES. Old relics (and mostly discontinued and are on life support) but are untainted and im glad.
I never understood the hate watching part. When i watch a movie and that is really rare nowadays, i like to enjoy it with some chips or other snacks. If that movie sucks why spend your lifetime being miserable?. I startet catching up on Animis i missed and rewatching some classic. That's way more enjoyable as to watching Disneys slop Propaganda

The Kiwi farms culture is also a hallmark of old forums. For example, I'm a big car guy and I'm active on forums for the cars I own (subreddits at more popular, but they do still see regular traffic. I encourage gearheads to use the forums proper if they're available). On these forums, that same standard of not mindlessly retreading old ground is also strongly enforced, not just by mods, but by the userbase as a whole. They all have FAQ pages and pinned threads for the most common topics for this reason. The problem is that as Reddit supplants the forums of old, these discussions become much more saturated with normies as opposed to the more high info enthusiasts you see on dedicated forums. And this rewards slop in communities with lots of tourists and normies. And it's only gonna get worse because youtube, much like reddit, directly incentives mass market slop via advertising revenue and SEO garbage. I don't see things getting better unless we deliberately push for more a more fragmented internet like the wild west of old we all revere.

I've seen people debate this topic ad nauseum and there are two sides. One basically says that ignoring and quiet boycotting (extra emphasis on the quiet part) is most effective. They can't keep making bad art if you don't give them money. However, the other side claims that ignoring bad art isn't enough. They will keep making bad art and unless someone points it out, they will continue to do so cluelessly without the guiding hand of the critics. Either way, if you truly have to hate watch something, at least pirate it. Don't let the studios have a single cent from you. If something is truly bad enough that it's worth talking about, people will wait to hear a review about it when it's no longer on sale.

The point of the saying is that both love and hate are an abundance of emotion, while apathy is the lack of emotion. Just as how the opposite of bright would be dark, as bright is the abundance of light, while dark is the lack of light or the opposite of hot is cold because cold is the absence of heat. You would be correct that hate and love are opposing emotions, but they're two sides of the same coin with regards how they we view and use them.

@@Selrisitai I think it is correct. Love can be interpreted in many ways but I think we can all agree on one definition: intense emotional feeling about a thing. Therefore, lack of it would be the complete opposite (you can imagine it on a spectrum). The way you dissected this simple expression can be applied to many others. There is often not one correct way to think about things. So both hate and apathy technically could be considered the opposites of love just like running or walking could be considered opposites of standing still.

Counterpoint: I would say in this case that both sides are correct, and both sides are incorrect. Why? Because some people (like me) will have noticed the patterns years ago, and acted accordingly by bailing on pretty much all popular current entertainment, whilst others are not so strident/observant/stubborn. Some people need constant reminding to stick to even skipping out on some of the movies, series, and games that plague modern entertainment. Of course, it's 100% correct that hate-watching is something that should never be done, that every view = a view no matter whose view it is. However, I have to heavily disagree with the notion to just be indifferent to them. We did that for decades and look at where it got us: they gained more and more power with each passing year. It's only because people stopped being indifferent that things got exposed and a resistance finally formed. Return to indifference, and all that you do is hand them back their power on a silver platter. To name an example: Ubisoft was going strong when gamers were indifferent, it was only when gamers stopped being indifferent that Ubisoft started its steep decline.

I watched 94s The Crow and 2005s Kingdom of Heaven yesterday. This was after a normie friend of mine spent the better half of an hour telling me that ARCANE was "Probably [his] favorite series of all time". At first I argued about Riot throwing out all the lore from back when we used to play League of Legends on the regular, but then I simply just gave up. I dont care about either of those pieces of entertainment or the IP as a whole and havent since I was in highschool. I'd rather watch movies from 20 or 30 or even 50+ years ago that people STILL talk about to this day - THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW THEY'RE GOOD.

Of course, we should approach a new piece of media with good faith and give it a decent chance to wow us, but once pattern recognition kicks in it is fine to dismiss something out of hand. If it turns out the movie was good after all you can just watch it later. There really is no hurry. I think the main issue you touched on is speaking on things while saying nothing. I have no problem with purposely watching something bad if you have something you really want to say about it. I also think covering something you know is bad but gets a lot of praise from others is the best version of hate watching. I never understood the hate watching part. When i watch a movie and that is really rare nowadays, i like to enjoy it with some chips or other snacks. The Kiwi farms culture is also a hallmark of old forums. For example, I'm a big car guy and I'm active on forums for the cars I own (subreddits at more popular, but they do still see regular traffic. I encourage gearheads to use the forums proper if they're available). On these forums, that same standard of not mindlessly retreading old ground is also strongly enforced, not just by mods, but by the userbase as a whole. They all have FAQ pages and pinned threads for the most common topics for this reason.
The problem is that as Reddit supplants the forums of old, these discussions become much more saturated with normies as opposed to the more high info enthusiasts you see on dedicated forums. And this rewards slop in communities with lots of tourists and normies. And it's only gonna get worse because youtube, much like reddit, directly incentives mass market slop via advertising revenue and SEO garbage. I don't see things getting better unless we deliberately push for more a more fragmented internet like the wild west of old we all revere.

Seriously, an obscure 90s animated sitcom gave the perfect response to bad entertainment. Unfortunately, it never took off.
I've seen people debate this topic ad nauseum and there are two sides. One basically says that ignoring and quiet boycotting (extra emphasis on the quiet part) is most effective. They can't keep making bad art if you don't give them money.
However, the other side claims that ignoring bad art isn't enough. They will keep making bad art and unless someone points it out, they will continue to do so cluelessly without the guiding hand of the critics.
Either way, if you truly have to hate watch something, at least pirate it. Don't let the studios have a single cent from you. If something is truly bad enough that it's worth talking about, people will wait to hear a review about it when it's no longer on sale.

The point of the saying is that both love and hate are an abundance of emotion, while apathy is the lack of emotion. Just as how the opposite of bright would be dark, as bright is the abundance of light, while dark is the lack of light or the opposite of hot is cold because cold is the absence of heat. You would be correct that hate and love are opposing emotions, but they're two sides of the same coin with regards how they we view and use them.

Therefore, lack of it would be the complete opposite (you can imagine it on a spectrum).

This was after a normie friend of mine spent the better half of an hour telling me that ARCANE was "Probably [his] favorite series of all time". The only kind of hate watching that's worth doing so is the seven seas kind. Watching reactionaries I don't consider hate watching if they're transformative enough, and if they aren't, it might as well be piracy.
I think the main issue you touched on is speaking on things while saying nothing. I have no problem with purposely watching something bad if you have something you really want to say about it. The slop content is when making a video covering every news article and saying the same thing everyone already knows or heard over and over again. I also think covering something you know is bad but gets a lot of praise from others is the best version of hate watching. If a big piece of woke garbage is gettimg praised by oh idk let's say EFAP and someone reviews it negatively I'm all for it.
