UVA grabs four from the basketball transfer portal

Virginia coach Tony Bennett has been busy, adding four players from the transfer portal, including former Duke player and 2023 five-star TJ Power.

We shall see. I'm very underwhelmed with the additions. Most seem to be quit enamored with Power's high school ranking. I think he was vastly over ranked. Virginia has had problems the last few years with having incomplete players. Guys who excelled on one end of the court, but were very limited on the other end of the court. So what do they get in the portal. Warley, who's length and athleticism should make him a + defender in Bennett's system, will most likely be a liability in Bennett's half court offense. Warley excelled when FSU could get out a run. UVA simply doesn't run enough to take advantage of that part of his game. As noted he doesn't shoot. Power looks to be the opposite. He's a shooter, but anything other than that is in question. Where's the athleticism people refer to with him? Never seen it in any of his tape. Saunders looks to be the most complete of the 3. I don't think he'll hurt you on either end of the court, but not sure he's a standout on either end also. He has the body for it, but interior play was not strength for him. He's a stretch 4. Bennett has tried a number of these guys in the post recently with BVP and even Groves last year. Maybe Saunders can make it work, but I'm not sure I see him starting in the post over Buchanan. I hope they all prove me wrong.
