Believe me, the novelty wears off quickly once it's start to go wrong, which is very quickly, and it's not helped by very poor dealership service I had a 2018 sdv8 Autobiography
Hey Mario, thanks for your comment🤗yeah it seems a lot of people I have spoken to recently say the same thing about things going wrong. What went wrong with your one? Thanks for chatting
On my third RR now and not had any more reliability problems than I did with Audi, Merc etc. In fact, Audi was the worst by far. Seems to me that as soon as you say Land Rover or Range Rover, some people simply parrot 'oh poor reliability' but have never owned one.
@@CarChatTV You might think me a bit of a traitor this time, I just bought a new Range Rover Velar HSE a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. Started with an old 4L P38 back in 2001, only major problems in about 4 years was an airbag and a failed water pump. In 2910 I bought a 3L TD6 L322. Had some annoying electrical problems that turned our to be water ingress in a distribution box. I had to replace some O rings in the suspension compressor but again nothing too serious. By comparison, in the first year of owning my 4 year old Audi A6 3.0 TDi needed the EGR valve replaced, new fuel injectors, it frequently went into limp mode for a few hours. I finally sold it as is when the turbo failed. We'll save the E320 Merc for another day :-)

Great video, thank you for your efforts 👏👏👏👏👏 I own a 2020 Range Rover Autobiography very similar to this, but with the 4.4 SDV8 Diesel engine. I think it needs some air work done on the supercharger and some upgrades on the injectors and some remapping. And she will have over 1000 hp out her rear wheels. And I would take it through the deepest mud. These preform extremely well with some tweaks.
@@CarChatTV my girlfriend has 2. . I've done work on both. They are a very nice 4+4 with some few upgrades. I like the twin turbo supercharged 4.4 litre v8 they had a couple of years back..
@@CarChatTV looks good. But I like to see them in a manual. I like the super charged v8. Just want to see what it's like in a couple of years from now if there's any major issues.
Mine had the most expensive extra. £32K for a new engine at 86K. The 4.4V8 has an issue with over fuelling in the injectors which melts the pistons. Bang and your car is gone. LR wouldn't even look at it unless I paid them 35K up front. I found a back st garage which popped a new engine in for £5.5 cash - was it warm when it went in? Probably - but what would you do? And yes of course they change the ECU so it maps faultlessly on the service records. This attitude of LR is probably what is holding the stolen RR market up.
Hey Neslon thanks for the comment 🤗 wow that is mad £32k for a new engine at that many miles is ridiculous! That’s such a horrible situation to be in. I can’t believe with a fault as bad as the engine breaking they wouldn’t look at it! With other manufacturers offering vast warranty cover it makes you question about chancing it with certain cars! It sounds like you did the right thing. I don’t know many people if any that would do differently. Thank you for chatting and sharing your story👍🏽 it’s always great to hear from people who have actually owned a RR and have experiences with them 🤗
@@CarChatTV Its a little crazier than I first said - so the car had a warranty - heres how that works. They cover 2K in parts inc VAT. They pay £50:00 an hour for labour up to a max of 2K. To get the engine out, open it all up diagnose the fault and then admit responsibility was all potentially at my cost - and even if it was their fault they would only cover 4K of the entire £32K cost unless I sued them. So backstreet garage - won't say who - just in case - £5.5K cash, no receipt, no questions asked. New engine - probably....still warm? Definitely. Sold it back to LR for 30K - I didn't win by any means but I still had a laugh about that aspect.
That’s an incredible story. It just goes to show doesn’t it all the costs involved. LR do seem to get a bad rep about problems with their vehicles. It’s very interesting to hear stories like this. How do you feel about LR now, I’m guessing you wouldn’t ever get another one then? 😂 what do you think to the new defender styling?
@@CarChatTV Mad as though all that is I love the Defender for what it is - an ode to past times made modern for a new generation brilliant and I would have one but don't need one - not all of us are farmers but you can still use the basic one - the 90 - for ferrying sheep and dogs about should you need to. JLR are on a new mission to compete with the likes of Bentley and Porsche as was their news recently. Interestingly Porsche and Bentley have the reputation for quality and the one thing we Brits understand in the world is the word luxury - we know what it should represent and how it is defined - the Germans don't get it, the Japanese had a go but failed so miserably thier efforts aren't even worth a mention and the Americans along with everyone else shouldn't have even tried. In these days of zero tolerance veganism and zero coefficient goals and carbon neutral this and dolphin friendly that is luxury even on the radar of future EV cars? Regardless of all of that after the bitter LR pill I have just swallowed I am talking very nicely to Porsche about Cayenne warranties - but the Porsche has a completely different status to the Range and its not one which frankly I prefer. But after ten landies of different flavours I am just about done - I would say they don't probably deserve my business. Good to chat. Thanks for listening.
There was no mention of the global retraining and strategic upgrading of JLR Dealers and Service Centres to support this amazing car and their new owners.
Thanks for the comment Peter 🤗 you are right. In this vid we just wanted to concentrate on how great the features were. Are you a big RR Fan? What do you think to the new one? Thanks for chatting!
@@CarChatTV I am a big RR fan and on my third model. The new RR is probably the most exciting launch ever. Thanks for an informative video.

hate to say it but I don't think that is an lwb because I have that long wheel base and it is different same year and model but with mine u have a L on the front doors and in the back you have a holder for the headphones just above where the rear climate control is and I didn't see that in this video.

Hey etim thanks for the comment🤗 yes you are right this has been said about Range Rover vehicles and some people that have bought them have experienced problems. @@CarChatTV Yes i had 3 in total a 1978 2 door still in my garage. So i had a Defender too but overall the building quality is still sheit for such an expensive 4x4. Look at the used pricing on older Land Cruisers or Range rovers, thats says it all, I do know they are great for being in and driving but the daily cost of owning and repairing can empty your bank account fast.
Awsome thanks for sharing. I love the defenders. But they are a lot like you say and the big costs go with them. People still go crazy for the brand. I wonder how many people have had their views changed after owning one.
@@CarChatTV We have huge roadtax in the Netherlands sadly so big 4x4's are very expensive to owe and run over here. Range rovers do have a bad name due to huge repair costs. Some are fine but the quality is not constant like Toyota sadly.

That’s a pretty basic Autobiography. The Autobiography is no longer as special as it once was so much so that it’s now, mostly, just another trim level.
My dreadful experience with Dealers and Service centres over the past 10 years throw serious concern on investing £135K on a brand new model. (The £135K is also a concern.) Thanks for an informative video.
It’s sounds like you have had a lot of experience with them. We always hear so many different views on them. They are great cars and the new one looks amazing. Like you said the price is a concern. So much money to find to be able to sample the new one. It will be interesting to see what they are like. Thanks for chatting.
Its had a front bumper change (not original autobiography front bumper)…
Thanks for the comment 🤗 ah really that’s interesting. Are you an RR owner? Thanks for chatting.
@@CarChatTV- thanks for the response. And yes i could tell because its not the same front bumper style as it should be (looks like its from the lower trims) 👍🏽
this isn't the lwb, standard wheel base
Thanks for the comment🤗 you are right. We were told differently at time of filming but now we realise. Are you a fan of Range Rovers though? Did you like the interior?
I know if your buying one of these money wouldn’t be an issue but all those electronic armrests and fancy electronic features just give me alarm bells for when they go wrong… an expensive fix id presume 😂
Thanks for the comment🤗 that armrest takes its time too to come down lol.
The LWB would be handy ! there's probably room for Oxygen and Propane Cutting gear in the middle area but that seat covering might be pretty fcked after a week o Graftin
Cheers for the comment James🤗 you are absolutely right. It would be a mess lol. That comment cracked us up lol
@@CarChatTV
Erm yeh i would be right otherwise i wouldnt have said so
Great video. Beautiful car!

@@CarChatTV You are welcome. I look forward to watching it! Kindest regards.
Thanks Philip 🤗
its not the long wheel base version. the rear doors are short/standard size. but great review tho
Hey thanks for the comment.🤗 yes we found out afterwards it wasn’t a LWB lol mix up with the details we were given. Needs to have Ls on the sides apparently. Good spot. Are you a big fan Range Rover? Thanks for chatting.
@@CarChatTV obsessed with the vouge. timeless design
Thanks
Your welcome 🤗
Best
👍🏽
hate to say it but I don't think that is an lwb because I have that long wheel base and it is different same year and model but with mine u have a L on the front doors and in the back you have a holder for the headphones just above where the rear climate control is and I didn't see that in this video.
Hey Declan. Appreciate the comment and sharing. You are right. We got told by the dealership it deffo was. But on further inspection we knew it wasn’t only after the filming. But we still wanted to release the vid as we thought it was still a lovely car. Thanks for chatting with us 🤗
Good video👍
Thanks Charlie boy 🤗
But it is said that Range Rover vehicles are not reliable and that they lose their 50 per cent values after about either 3 to 5 years of use. Are they correct?
Hey etim thanks for the comment🤗 yes you are right this has been said about Range Rover vehicles and some people that have bought them have experienced problems. However some also say that have been fine. Range Rover still seems to be sought after and a brand that people still want to buy. Are you thinking of getting one? Thanks for chatting.
EXCRUCIATING SLOW MECHANISMS! I WOULD BUY IT THOUGH!!!
Thanks for the comment 🤗what car are you driving now? Thanks for chatting.

@car chat tv…. What other range over trims are there??
Hey reality thanks for the comment! 🤗 they have the HSE, Westminster Edition, Autobiography Edition, Autobiography, and SVAutobiography Dynamic. You thinking of going for one then? Thanks for chatting.
you re driving my dream. wish you may get 100k asap ;)
Wow thank you 🤗
Did you change the engine
Is it available in 7 seater?
It is now in the new Range Rover 2022 👍🏽
9 out of the 11 things you mention you get as standard in a Vogue SE !!!! for 40k less when buying new
Hey John thanks for the comment!🤗 that makes a lot of sense and a lot of savings too! What car do you have? Thanks for chatting
This is a SWB… LWB will have a “L” on the door and also a powered sunshade in the rear door as well….
Awsome thanks. Appreciate the comment 🤗

@@CarChatTV you deserve it , I didn’t have to force myself to write that .
That’s brilliant thank you 🤗
This is not a LWB
Hey jorel thanks for the comment. What makes you say that?
@@CarChatTV the amount of legroom in the back seems too short for a lwb.
Well the dealership have it listed as LWB and it says that on the documents. So someone is in trouble if it’s not lol.
your right this is not a LWB
what colour is ths
I think it’s called Carpathian Grey 🤗 thanks for the comment 👍🏽
How much is it sir?
Thanks for the comment🤗 I believe this one is up for £101k

Hey Brian thanks for the comment🤗 I love this statement, maybe they should collab. Thanks for chatting
Are u sure that an LWB? Looks awfully short. And i don’t see the LWB badging on the side.
Hey thanks for the comment. 🤗 your bang on. It actually isn’t a LWB there was a mix up with the details we we’re given. But it should have L badges on each side if it’s a LWB. good spot. Are you a fan of RR? Thanks for chatting👍🏽
@@CarChatTV I’ve been an owner for over 20 years, starting with a used 1989 Range Rover i bought in 1993. I’ve probably owned 15 or so since that time, w/ the most recent being a 2020 Range Rover with the supercharged v8. It’s a fabulous car.
Wow that’s Awsome. Sounds like you have had a lot of experience with them. I really love the supercharged v8 it’s a beast! Would love to know your thoughts on the new defender and if you like it? Always great to chat to enthusiasts 🤗
LWB???? I think not. This is the regular wheelbase model. How could he make such a gaffe?
Correct it’s not the LWB! Thanks for the comment 🤗
sir give me diwali bonus

This car price
It was £101,000 thanks for the comment 🤗
Yeah love the car but this is not the Long wheel base 😂. That’s a standard Autobiography.
Thanks for the comment 🤗 yea it’s not the LWB! Found that out afterwards lol. Apparently it needs L Badges on the side. Are you a fan of RR,Thanks for chatting 👍🏽

Always huge moneypits.
Thanks for the comment 🤗 have you owned many RRs? Have you had a bad experience. Always great to hear from people who have had one and the stories they tell us. Thanks for chatting
Big enough for double.... what?!

Hey SathWik, thanks for the comment🤗 your absolutley right it isn’t. There was some confusion with the details that got passed over to the script team before filming. If it’s a LWB it should have Ls on either side. Are you a fan of Range Rover? What car do you drive? Thanks for chatting. 👍🏽

Actually NOT the best Range Rover you can buy ….. there is 1 even better: the SVR Autobiography long wheelbase….. as pointed out by others this is not an “L” either…..
Thanks for the comment Roy🤗 very good shout that is also a great choice. we went for a catchy title as other videos do as well on TH-cam. That’s not a LWB 😂
Thanks for the comment Joe🤗 no it isn’t 😂 it should have the Ls on the sides which it doesn’t lol
give me gift this car sir this is my dream
Wish I could. But you could buy it. 👍🏽
That’s a pretty basic Autobiography. The Autobiography is no longer as special as it once was so much so that it’s now, mostly, just another trim level. Proper Autobiography models will only have two seats in the back, it will have rear media entertainment, it will be made by Land Rovers Special Vehicles department and be totally bespoke. So yes, this is a basic Autobiography.
