This is great. I'm building 5ft diameter aluminum wheels for a parade float. .We're using an axle from a truck , the bolt pattern is 5 bolts at 7 1/4 '' diameter. I have to drill those holes in
a 1/2 inch think aluminum plate to make the hubs for the wheels . I will draw this directly on the metal.

I like to ask my students sometimes to figure out how to divide a pizza into 5 equal slices, without a protractor to find the 72 degrees necessary. Using just a compass we could probably just about manage it with tolerable accuracy. But in a kitchen, no compass. Perhaps some tongs could be used instead?

I was with you until 01:15, but after that, your use of jargon completely lost me. "Calculate the perpendicular bisector of the radius...and the radius slightly longer than half the radius..."?! It's too bad you couldn't use layman's terms for those of us who aren't geometricians.

I can definitely put it in layman's terms, but how he said it is more concise.
Draw two circles about three quarters the size, one centered on the midpoint and another on the horizontal diameter. The points where those two circles intersect is the *exact* midpoint of the bigger circle's horizontal radius.

Or you could just divide 360 degrees by 5 and come up with 72. Mark the circle every 72 degrees and not have to do all this BS.
