Downtown DC: Purge Siren Blasted by Ambulance During Lockdown

- An ambulance drove through DC streets on 3/30/2020 blasting the emergency siren from the movie “The Purge”. Residents were alarmed by the sound.
DC (along with Maryland and Virginia) authorities issued “stay-at-home” orders in order to combat the coronavirus COVID-19.

****UPDATE: It looks like AMR (the ambulance company) saw another video about this posted on Twitter and the two individuals involved tendered their resignations. A practical joke gone wrong and I guess it was a tough lesson learned.

I would say part of the panic is that it's not a familiar sound. Most people know what EV sirens sound like, so hearing them in middle of the night would not be disconcerting.
However, this sounds like an emergency alert siren, something you typically only on a Tuesday morning for a monthly test. Hearing that kind of siren any other time of the year outside of the designated test slot would be cause for concern.

If that siren made you feel "panic" you might reconsider your therapy path. I could list thousands of scary movie analogies, and someone would have a new adjective or pronoun for each and every one. Poor humor at best, but "inducing panic" really?
