Why would Mark hold any hope for a person that's murdered every single entity that's stood in his way and then literally punched his son through cities, forcing him to murder people along the way? If anything, his character should be enraged about what Omni-Man did to Mark's mother and pull no punches. Nolan is a piece of shit. Him smiling because Mark got a hit in little league doesn't translate to forgiveness over being held up to a subway train as a weapon that's responsible for dozens of deaths. I get that children of abuse often forgive their parental abusers to their detriment, but I don't think that was the point of this scene. Mark should have punched Nolan into the fucking sun. However, if the point is to deal with how abusive parents basically con 'loved ones' into falling for their BS, this show missed the mark. The relationship between Nolan and Mark needed a lot more exploration, and then Debbie being a part of it...the whole first season should have just been that theme, in my opinion. (Still a great season, and tons of fun to watch!)

Somewhat resigned to depression, but nevertheless stromg, resilient, and encouraging. Debbie is a great character. I just wish the show had more interactions between Mark and Debbie.
TBH I don't even think Nolan ment it, i'm 100% sure actually. We see it in the Flashback that he softened up during his time on earth. In fact, his Love was so strong that in the end he rather abandoned his Mission than kill his son, and he was crying while flying off. As Allen said, this NEVER happened before in an Empire that is several thousand years old, not once. Nolan said all that not only to talk Mark into his side, but to talk him into this aswell at that point. Think about it, if Debbie was really this meaningless to him, he would've killed her the Moment he learned she knew that he killed the Guardians. Because at that point she became a major risk.

Seeing Jay cry IMMEDIATELY gets me teary. That "I would have you, Dad" scene hurt me the first time, but seeing Jay get upset and Adam comfort his buddy is just so wholesome.

I started reading the series after watching the first 2 episodes and finished it up the past weekend. Without spoilers, all I can say is that the whole "Nolan is secretly evil" is honestly not even in the top 5 WTF moments/awesome twists in the series.
Atom Eve actually makes sense as a love interest now. She controls things down to the molecular structure ergo she can theoretically extend her own life by reconstructing her own body and effectively age like a viltrumite.

Man, having read the comics this was everything I wanted and more. Brought some of my favorite comic pages to life “You Dad.. I’d still have you” destroyed me once again through a new medium. That train scene was absolutely fucked, I was going in expecting mass murder but holy shit that was another level of brutal. Nolan is hundreds or thousands of years old. He's only been on Earth for 20 years or more. Humanity did have an impact on Nolan but that Viltrumite programming is behind a lot of Nolan's atrocities.
The emotion and pain this episode was off the charts. I kind of wished this was how Man of Steel was viewed. Like...UNIMAGINABLE CHAOS, EVERYONE DEAD, mental trauma not just for the civilians, but the hero as well! I don't imagine Mark getting rid of those sights any time soon. Also I didn't think I'd get so emotional from just four words from Mark. Despite everything, he still loves his dad and wants to believe that he's a good person. And during this entire fight, he's willing to throw his life on that belief. 10/10 finale for me.
Well they did touch on this aftereffect in Batman V Superman but audiences didn't like it. It was too dark. This kind of stuff isn't for mainstream audiences.

I did feel like the blood spatter on the card would be Mark's, but god damn also yeah Amber shouldn't just waltz back in like she didn't give Mark the cold shoulder for trying to balance his love life and protecting innocent people, you can't just sweep that under the rug. Didn't really approve. Like how I was iffy about the Maulers going back to prison (they could easily just point the finger at Robot as well at this point so they should have leverage) while Spenser makes a zombie cyborg army for Cecil with a freshly intact jaw but looking forward to Season 2
As someone who has also read the comics, seeing all of Adam's little looks, reactions, and glances towards Jay was hilarious. I'm glad that the show gained so much popularity because there is so much more to come that I'm dying to see animated!

I will say, this gives me an all-new appreciation for Superman. Everything that Nolan says about himself relative to humanity applies to Clark as well, but while Clark acknowledges his physical superiority to humans, he *never* sees himself as being *morally* superior to ordinary people, or being inherently more valuable than them. If anything, Clark sees human fragility - relative to himself- as making them all the more precious. He loves when humans are brave, because they take so much more risk than he does, like when John Henry Irons almost died trying to save another construction worker. Clark would kick seven different colors of shit out of Nolan for what he did here, and it's why Superman stands above all imitators.

I will say, this gives me an all-new appreciation for Superman. Everything that Nolan says about himself relative to humanity applies to Clark as well, but while Clark acknowledges his physical superiority to humans, he *never* sees himself as being *morally* superior to ordinary people, or being inherently more valuable than them. If anything, Clark sees human fragility - relative to himself- as making them all the more precious. He loves when humans are brave, because they take so much more risk than he does, like when John Henry Irons almost died trying to save another construction worker.
Clark would kick seven different colors of shit out of Nolan for what he did here, and it's why Superman stands above all imitators.
The entire fight between Mark and Omni-man felt like the man of steel fight if they focused on the massive amount of Humans dying.
