Get ready to catch more fish with Yamaha’s new game-changing boat control system, the Helm Master EX. Previously available on large offshore boats, the fully integrated boat control system is now designed for smaller recreational boats designed to deliver incredible ease and precision when manoeuvring.
It includes enhanced binnacle control, a streamlined digital display, push button start/stop switches, an RFID key fob and an innovative joystick. It’s the joystick that moves large craft with ease and agility, making navigating crowded marinas a breeze.
CATCH MORE FISH WITH A SINGLE JOYSTICK CONTROL
Now Yamaha has made boating and catching fish even more effortless with the latest Helm Master SetPoint modes. It allows you to fine-tune your position which in StayPoint, FishPoint and DriftPoint using just the joystick, removing the need for an electronic trolling motor. It means you can fish directly below your boat, wait and maintain position at any time by automatically locking in your position, heading or both.
Twist or apply pressure to the joystick in a given direction and the engines respond instantly, with thrust that mirrors the amount of movement you input via the joystick. Intuitive joystick manoeuvring allows you to move your boat in forward, reverse, laterally left or right, on a diagonal or to pivot it 360 degrees in place.
HELM MASTER PATTERN SHIFT - TROLLING NOW HAS A NEW NAME
There is also the new Pattern shift for more precise operation below standard in-gear trolling speeds. This feature allows the skipper to troll below standard in-gear trolling speed by shifting into or out of gear to meet a desired target speed. In calm water, resulting minimum speed can be set at less than 0.5 MPH.
The 7-inch touchscreen display allows you to monitor vital boat functions and up to four outboards on the one screen and the Command Link capability include gauge integration, mapping and NMEA 2000 networking.

Would work better then the minnkota out deep in a bit of sea where the shaft keeps bobbing in and out of the water, but wondering about the gearbox of the Yamaha with all the gear changes to hold position?

I wouldn’t have thought a single motor could hold bow into sea and in cross wind
