- We spent 2 weeks travelling through the Resplendent Isle of Sri Lanka and I’m so happy with our itinerary that I had to share it with you in my recent vlogs.
I also wanted to make this video at the end of our trip so all of the tips and tricks were fresh in my mind to try and help any of you who are planning a trip here. We cover pre-boarding issues, which way to travel around the island, transport, accommodation, currency, tips, local custom, what to wear, food and drink and more!
This has been one of the best trips I’ve ever experienced. I really hope to inspire you to visit also.
Thanks to @mstarling79 as always for the fresh insta360 and R5/R6 footage!

Some places to visit whilst you are in Sri Lanka:
- Cinnamon hotel (Colombo)
- Coral Beach hotel (Mirissa)
- Tree of Life hotel in the mountainous area of Kandy
- Yala National Park
- Ridiyagma Safari Park
- Sigiriya, ascend the steps to the top to see an incredible view
Cities and coastal towns to visit in Sri Lanka:
- Colombo
- Kandy
- Ella
- Mirissa
Thank you! We visited many of these places. You can see our travels in my 3 part vlog series on Sri Lanka ☺️
Don't trust ANYONE in Sri Lanka. They are very accustomed to ripping off tourists there. Big smiles, all happy, but don't be fooled, they are constantly thinking of how much you have and how little they have, and they seriously think that you owe them! "It's not fair, you are rich and I am poor. You owe me."
Scammers try every angle, from extortionate tuk-tuk rates to food prices, drinks prices, room rates. If you are white there is absolutely no doubt that you are a target. Sri Lanka is not scam city, it is scam country! Beware. Thieves!
This most definitely includes the police, who subsidise their income by scamming tourists. In fact, the police are the worst, because they will threaten you if you contest their claims. Dangerous people, the Sri Lankan police!
Nice vlog 🎉
Thank you 😊
Hi Amanda, I really enjoyed your 3 episodes. On the SriLankan Tourism page, there are pages and pages of drivers. How/where do you find the right one?
Hi! Thanks for the comment - I 100% agree! I really felt quite anxious about booking a trip from afar with no real knowledge and actually even wondered if the car would turn up on the first day of our trip - which was important - Sigiriya!! I had 2 friends personally recommend drivers and then I did a Google/ TripAdvisor review/search to check out their companies and names. I actually ended up going with a company who I had planned to go with in 2020 just before Covid hit! They were purely from a search with background check on reviews. I can send you all 3 contacts if it would help? I absolutely relate to this feeling. Although on touch down to Colombo Airport, there are multiple vendors advertising drivers who can help. So I wouldn't say it's imperative to book before arrival, although it definitely made me feel more at peace to have it arranged beforehand.

Hi Amanda, I'm an Aussie of 51 years, but born in SL! Thank you for showcasing my homeland as you have with your series of videos. It's been a pleasure to watch! 🙏👏👏👏👍
Hi Graeme, thanks so much for this comment and for watching. I’m so glad that they have been well received, especially by Sri Lankans! That is the most important! Thanks again 🙏🏼
@TheLensCapChronicles Thanks Amanda, so glad you saw a Leopard!! 🐆
Wishing you and your partner more exciting adventures in 2024. Look forward to your future videos! 😊🖐
Hi Amanda, great videos. How did you work out where and how to hire a driver? The SriLankan travel site has many drivers registered. It's a bit overwhelming.

Thanks for your reply Amanda. I really appreciate your committment. I will look into your suggestions. I generally like to be fairly organised before arriving anywhere to minimise 'the noise' of choices when on the ground.
@@JJones-ek6wo Me too. Exactly how I feel when travelling! Let me know if I can help further. Wishing you a wonderful trip!
Great content and informative ❤
