  • Before the Valley Metro Rail there was the Phoenix Trolley Street Car! I met with Lanny at the Phoenix Trolley Museum on Grand Avenue in downtown Phoenix Arizona on a First Friday. Turns out the old antique trolley cars were used for more than just transportation. Lanny explains how the Phoenix trolley transportation system started and the unfortunate circumstances of how it ended. See the original routes through Phoenix in the 1920's and how the trolley linked to the city of Glendale, Arizona. Also, see vintage and antique items from the old trolley cars. Learn more about Moses Sherman who started the rail system in Phoenix and rail projects in California. Lanny explains how the Phoenix street cars were later transformed into cheap housing and the story behind the Trolley Trailer Park. He also explains why the museum is in need of vintage train track and the future plans for the Phoenix Trolley Museum.
The Phoenix Trolley Museum is open on First Fridays and every Saturday from 11am - 3pm.
