Greetings Joe, another amazing video of the Soi’s and establishments in Bangkok Thailand. The cost of living there is absolutely incredible and Bangkok architecture and infrastructure is typical of most Asian cities with exception of China’s Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Wow, a two year lease extension is wonderful and you are obviously a Thai resident by now. Continue to live your best life with Boom and I look forward to your next episode or release.
Thank you very much. careful what you wish for, I put out a video everyday. Watch a few when you can. I appreciate that. It's just my little hobby in my new favorite city in the world.
Wow buddy, Sukhumvit 18 looks really nice. I wonder what the condo prices are like there. I'm guessing a little higher than average.
Hey JJ. Yes, this is expat central. Close to the park, train and Terminal 21, this will be top dollar. One comment said a building they checked was 2k to 4k. Of course it was a 7300sq ft 4 bedroom. But, you can always find a hidden gem. But, even a small place will cost much more than a few miles away.
I stayed at Baan Sukhumvit Inn for a week in Feb 2024. (200 yards down Soi 18 from Sukhumvit and turn left at the first side soi, which is a short cul-de-sac. It's a lovely small "boutique" hotel with very friendly staff and nice rooms, for about 1600 baht per night. It allowed me to explore Soi 18, 20, 22, 24 etc. Soi 33/1 is also easily walkable. And as you said, very handy for Soi Cowboy, if that is your thing. It's a world away from boisterous Soi 4 and the hotel made a wonderful stay and is highly recommended by me.
That's a great area. Thanks for the review. I live near Emporium. I'm on all those streets often.
Great video. The little side soi roads are very kool.
@EagerExpat the 1 thing that kills me about the move is.. i can not buy a house.. just condos or townhouses. I'm sure I could work around the problem. But this policy is only hurting residential sales. I understand a commercial blackout for non thais
I saw a comment about owning a house and it vanished. I'm no expert, but there are 99 year leases and putting a house in a company. There's always a way to get things done. Plus, it's Thailand. They may change that rule in a week.
Love the videos, fellow Ca guy who splits time between SoCal and BKK.
Try JHOL on S18, from this video. Best Indian restaurant on earth. Keep up the great work , your videos r epic , great creativity too
Galaxy tailors had a rash of youtubers do videos. Just them. Exchange for a new suit? Do you think a TH-camr should disclose that? Seems disingenuous not to.
I have no idea. I've seen other videos of Tailor on Ten. I know one TH-camr who paid for his suit at Ten.
You’re right about banking situation changing. Siam Legal have a note on their website now which says their Bangkok bank account service is currently suspended.
Yes, everything changes. I still walk by visa agents that have the bank account service listed in the window. You need the bank account to get the visa. Maybe it will be easier at some point. Proof of starting a visa perhaps?
I looked up Dera Mansion. 3/3 and 4/4; 680sq m. $2/$4K USD
Wow that's a huge apartment. That's a 7319 sq ft condo. My last house was 1100 sq ft. Someone probably has a 4k a month mortgage on that small house in San Diego today.
I thought I would hire an agent to open a Thai bank account, while on my tourist Visa, as I'm planning retirement visa in the future but as per Siam Legal in Bangkok response "Regarding a bank account opening, due to the changes in the banking regulations, those on tourist visas/visa exemption can no longer open a bank account." i tried to follow you path you did a few years ago so things have changed.
Ya things are always going to change. Go to Soi 13 and the Trendy building. There must be 3 or 4 agents on the street level. One of those guys can surely get it done. The banking rules are getting tightened. Hopefully one day it will be easier with maybe a proof of starting a retirement visa, to open an account. Were all trying to play by the rules.
Hi Joe
Always good your walkabouts, I lived in casa 20 for a year and only moved out 3 weeks ago, it's a small condo unit, no pool or gym but locacation is great, I did enquire about the dera mansion but their apartments and are not available to rent plus they are 3 or more bedrooms, along with some of the other big apartments along soi 18.
Great video mate. How does the new tax laws impact on your overseas pension income???
Hey thanks for watching. Nobody knows what going to happen on the tax issue. Including the guys online saying that they do. Until it's in the Royal Gazette. There are double tax treaties with most countries. Maybe it will be another form to fill out? Maybe they will do something drastic and cause a mass exodus.
Then a month later they will repeal the decision. The have mentioned most pensions will not be taxed. Still, some keyboard commandoes can't wait to tell you it's a new 35% tax on every penny. I guess it gets clicks.
The Cute Corner Cuisine restaurant on Soi 18 is great but no walk ins and must book a day in advance. They have a couple of nice Airbnb rooms above which I can also recommend.
Nice vid, thank you will be staying on Soi 19 in Nov. So lots of good info here. 👍
That's great. Have a nice trip. Check out this video. th-cam.com/video/7_sWYTQfqPM/w-d-xo.html

'Puzzle Room' is one of those escape room places. Seen them back in the US its not my thing but the 20 and 30-somethings were loving them a few years back.
Oh thanks. I thought it was a board game place. I've seen a few other escape rooms around town
Sukhumvit is nice place 😊🫰❤️
I like it. Other people hate big cities. I like to live on a quiet street, but I have a major city, 10 minutes away. I love it.
If I lived there, I would be getting a nuru every week or two.
Sounds like a plan. Just put it in the budget. A regular massage is 400b an hour. A nuru is 4000b.
Beautiful walk and amazing area. Hope you can continue to show off more prime real estate like this Joe. And also these great lunch spots!
Loving the videos as always sir. I’m going to knock into Stallas Friday night around 10 or 11 pm for the first time. If are in the bar there is a small Irish guy happy to buy you a drink to say thanks for all your work! Of course please don’t even think about rescheduling plans, I mean just if you happen to be in. 🙏
I'll try to make that happen. Friday is date night with the girlfriend, but we talked about going to dinner with friends. Hopefully Stella will join us. My girl works all day, so its up to her if we head to the bar. I'll try to make it over. How long are you in town? Always glad to say hello. Is it Dave?
@@EagerExpat no pressure if it works out for you that you are there great. I’m in town another 23 days
Thank you for showing one of my favorite sois! Some comments: Maitria is a really nice hotel and maybe the hotel we stayed at the most in Bangkok. A little anecdote is that when we stayed there the last time, 6 months ago, at the check-in, my girlfriend recognized the woman at the check-in counter. She browsed her photos in her phone and found a 7 year old photo of the woman, giving my girlfriend a birthday-cake from when we stayed there 2017. She showed the photo to the woman in the reception and she got so happy that she upgraded our room :) And about Park Plaza: it is indeed a hotel, and a pretty good one too! I stayed there 2 times the last 12 years and I was happy both times, even though I prefer Maitria. P Kitchen was an absolutely great thai restaurant before but we were a bit disappointed last time; they went for a more fancy style with smaller portions on nice china.. still pretty good though. Palm @ 18 is a place I avoid nowaydays; it is not thai owned anymore and the food is not what you would expect, really, if you know your thai food. It is still cozy but not genuine. Sorry for the long rant :) P.S. If you're still up for that beer in a month or so, I am game.
Thanks for the insight. I'm always up for a beer. I have a dive trip for a week in July, but I'll be around. Shoot me a message when you get into town.
@@EagerExpat We will enter Thailand july 12 but will travel around. I will be in Bangkok in the beginning of august for at least a week. If not before, that would be a great time. Letting you know!
@@silenziostampa4423 Sounds good say hello in August. I'll be in Malaysia at the end of July, but I'll be around. If I do take a trip, it'll be for 3 or 4 days. Nothing major planned in August
@@EagerExpat Sounds great, I absolutely will do. I will be in Bangkok a few times during my trip but absolutely certain between august 5-8 (alone) and 8-11 with my wifes family. If you are around then it would be great to hang out and have a beer or two.
🙋🏻♀️What are your thoughts of a single 55y/o female living in Bangkok with access to the LDS temple??🤔
Bangkok is a very safe city. A single female would be fine. I'm not sure where there is a LDS temple. I'm sure a city of 16 million people will have a few.
@@faukerconsulting835 It's possible. My first condo in On Nut was 16k and my current in Phrom Phong is 19K. I believe I saw an LDS center on Asoke Montri. Very close to Terminal 21. Come over for a visit and check it out. I would assume the LDS community will help walk you through the process of moving over. Best of luck.
100 baht elephant pants! That's a deal.
Ha ha. The young Thai kids are making them cool. I see them everywhere
