Kashmir willow has become lower in quality because Kashmir willow bats have been in high demand abroad because of their low price. Because of this high demand the trees which produce Kashmir willow are cut even before they reach their maturity requirements which is needed to make bats. However, Kashmir willow bats are still the best quality & a great option to start journey in cricket. Legends like Sachin Tendeulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar also played with Kashmir willow earlier in their international careers.
My first bat was Kashmir willow in 1999.It was quite heavy and i used to keep knocking it all the time at home and initially it was used very few times in the matches, but later on it came out as a showstopper as its middle and sweet spot had bulk of wood and the senior players in our academy and later when I joined the club, used to borrow that bat from me to play their inning.
