Nice bit of kit that one Mike and Lady Kath Lol. Great review as always. Thank you Thermaltake for sending the power supply over to be reviewed. You can never have too much ARGB. Take care all. Cheers
Hello Mike, great review! An interesting difference between the RGB and non-RGB versions of this PSU is that the latter one has got an additional 8-PIN connector instead of the RGB lights. At first I thought that Amazon Germany had wrong preview pictures. But after looking up reviews of the non-RGB version it really has 4x8-PIN connectors. It's currently discounted, so I ordered one as a replacement for my current PSU (Enermax Revolution D.F. 2/ semi-passive fan rattles under load, luckily the return window is still open). If someone really needs that additional 8-PIN for their MB or GPU, the non-RGB is the way to go.
Hi, Mike. Nice PSU. It currently costs $140 on the US Amazon, which is cheap. I comparable Seasonic PSU is $200. I'd get the non RGB version, as the PSU goes into the rear chamber of my case where I'd never see any light from it. I'm impresses how clean the PSU is inside, and with the choice of parts. Warning: DO NOT open a PSU unless you know what you're doing. They are very dangerous to open because even unplugged the capacitor could be fully charged with enough voltage to kill you.,
Great looking unit Mike ,Thermaltake have some superbly designed kit these days. It would be nice if somebody designed some variable length cabling so they could be crimped to the correct length system use with the excess removed.
@@mikesunboxing I think that is somewhat of an understatement :) They have gone from having a terrible reputation to turning it around completely in the last year by once again producing good products at good prices - its good to see them back.
From an Argb view point; I had my corsair CX550F fan up in the i7 build in the 4000d and I could see the Argb but it was obscured a little, however I turned it fan down for the 5700x build and unless the room lights are off I can't see the Argb on low brightness, even with the room lights off I can only see it projected on the back wall. I WAS NOT a fan of RGB however black cases need a little colour and a PSU was unique(ish). The more RGB I got the more I liked it( excluding RAM) and it ended up being a must for the new build mobo wise. If you want it fan up case inspection is a must even the 4000d didn't really cut the mustard.
What is the world coming to.....ARGB on a PSU........I suppose as far as PSUs go this is great and at this pricepoint there arent that many more one the market that can offer what this one does. Thanks for sharing.......oh the good old days of black and white TV 🙂
Covers all build variations and options you can imagine. Nice piece of kit. Are gen5 gpus out already? Is that RTX 4000s gpus! Thanks for sharing Mike and Kath 🐈👍
People will need to think before getting these about how many EPS and PCIe 8 pin connectors they need. This wont support someone getting a combination such as a 13900k and a Radeon 6800 or higher for example where 2 EPS 8 pins are used and 2 or even 3 PCIe 8 pins. Obviously good for nVidia 40 series combos.
@@mikesunboxing Yes - in theory someone looking at that high end a setup would know their stuff, but we know that isn't always the case. Doesn't the 13900k demand both EPS are plugged in btw? Never installed one so can't speak to experience on them.
Hey! My upcoming pc is only missing psu decision and currently i am between RM850x 2021, Thermaltake toughpower gf3 and be quiet pure power 12 m, currently i have 2060 but for a span of 10 years yea im obviously changing gfx at some point. What would your recommendations be considering these psu's? Price is pretty much same, would need to wait a bit longer with thermatake and apparently be quiet features lesser quality caps but dunno how relevant this is, maybe on longer run.

Even great for a old pc case with all that RGB 😛

Yes they do, they have upped their game quite a bit recently

think thermaltake are aiming this more towards their own cases like the P6 etc where it is very open

black and white TV great for watching the snooker :-)

Yes they are the 40 series use the pcie gen 5 connection, bit early to the party
Great video thanks Mike
You are very welcome
there is also the corsair cx650f Argb full modular
that is okay if the RGB is your goal but in terms of power and build it is in another league
very nice psu so im guessing pcie gen 5 for the newer 4000 series great info on the psu :)
That is correct

yeah i see what you mean but really 2 EPS CPU plugs is overkill for pretty much everyone

Been waiting for this PSU to be sold at Amazon or Newegg in the west(US)? When Thermaltake? Only version available is the non ARGB.
tag thermaltake in the comments or ask thermal mike in his wednesday twitch stream

try the new thermaltake GF A3 range they are looking good for slightly less money
Will I be able to use this PSU for my Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX? It needs 3x 8 (6+2) pins.
it should be okay but one cable will be shared
Is it the same as "Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 PS-TPD-0850FNFAGE-4" but with ARGB?
it seems to be from what i can tell
"nice and thick and juicy"
lol i know, you can tell these videos aren't scripted
