I hope it’s successful and she makes a full recovery! It’s really tough seeing things like that happen to kids. I’m thankful my daughter has been healthy the past 6 months. We dealt with mystery seizures and several nights at the hospital the first couple years of her life and I’m really hoping it’s something she just grew out of.

They are barely fit for human consumption. I mean as far as steaks go they are terrible. Tough and lean. Im pretty sure they are actually London broil from cow off the reservation. I use to use them to make cheese steak sandwiches, cheap meat and the flavor isn't bad.

This brings back a good memory. Back around 1965 a friend and I biked down to the Red River. My older friend had two small pieces of steak. Shocking to me he caught two fairly large northern pike with the steak. We proudly biked back home two miles through town with those northerns dangling on a stringer.

Thank you very much for letting the catfish bark at the camera. Texas boy here and I so miss how them catfish used to bark at me down south. I'm stuck in California in the mountains which is not a bad thing, but there's no big cats up here except puma . That $3 steak is a cautionary tale to humans. It stayed on the hook and all them fish tasted it and spit it back out but it was too late

He’d let some of the mink food dry (when it’s wet it’s a mushy paste) and use it for bait and he’d out fish everyone. H a long shot when we’d fight the local catfish river. @@ndyakangler I was staying at Indian Hills resort close to Garrison, I befriended a great guy who became my friend after I gave him a gallon of moonshine liquor from Virginia and begs me every year to come up. He would come out every other weekend and stay in the cabin beside me. He had a nice boat and we would go up into Montana on the Missouri river every other weekend walleye fishing. He would fix us Elk steaks and fish for supper. One week in late May Me and my friend and coworker that was staying with me fished the boat dock for three straight days I caught golden eyes and would smash them on the rock and toss them back in. On the third night of fishing we caught 25 channel cats 16 lb plus and I landed a Northern Pike that was 22 lb and was 52" long on 12 lb monofilament. I had to respool my pole 7 times because we were using 12 pound test. They would run it out and break it. If I had some 50 lb test I probably would have caught some 35 pound+ catfish and pike.I gave it to the people at the resort and they had a mount made and hung it in the office. I guess it's still there today.

Yep, did similar... put garlic in it, and a 1/4 cup of oil. Let it spoil real good, then strain off the chicken livers / lungs etc. Can use them as bait but also put the oil from this in small dropper bottles. Three drops on some kernels of corn and carp will hone in on them like metal shavings to a magnet...from way down the river. Good times. Wear rubber gloves or similar to handle, this stuff REEKS.

Those lucky catfish are enjoying the finest dollar store steak! My catfish prefer them grilled to medium rare and coated in bordelaise sauce with a side of chicken livers.

It’s always a pleasure to watch your videos!
English isn’t my first language so I’m curious to learn more about the specificities and nuances of the language. I lived in both Ontario and Texas. I’ve just noticed that the way you say “out” sounds like the way people say it in Canada. Do people say it like this in ND too? What about the other states at the north border?
    Thanks!

I’d say the farther north you go, or into the more rural small towns here the more of a Scandinavian or somewhat Canadian sounding accent you’ll notice. I think a lot of the older generation farmers in those areas were from or their parents came from parts of Europe like Norway, Sweden, Germany etc.

Nice fish. Just wondering if you marinated the steak in garlic next time maybe the fish might like it! The river trips remind me maybe you watched the Clutch Cargo and the Paddle Foot kid in a former life time. I have been trying small Rapala Husky Jerks for crappies try it you might like it.

In Thailand we like to use pork skin for bait. Try and get it with the layer of fat just below the tough outer layer still on. Lots of oils in it and it’s difficult to get off the hook so you tend to not have issues with small fish striping the bait. Do you ever get bow fin fish in your area? Or snakehead?
