This brings back a good memory. Back around 1965 a friend and I biked down to the Red River. My older friend had two small pieces of steak. Shocking to me he caught two fairly large northern pike with the steak. We proudly biked back home two miles through town with those northerns dangling on a stringer.

Thank you very much for letting the catfish bark at the camera. Texas boy here and I so miss how them catfish used to bark at me down south. I'm stuck in California in the mountains which is not a bad thing, but there's no big cats up here except puma . That $3 steak is a cautionary tale to humans. Nice! As a Southerner who now lives in Iowa, I can say that we would have left those steaks out in the sun for a day before using for catfish. Would be smelling “right” for catfish 😂
I’ve used the exact same steak as bait before! Basically cut it into 3rds then put it in a ziplock with a bunch of garlic salt the day before I went fishing. Toughens it even more to stay on the hook. Great video!
Matt, you never cease to amaze me with your choice of baits, organic or artificial, who would have thought of $3.00 Rib Steaks from the Dollar Store, just simply AWESOME!
I just finished night shift and sat down in front of the TV to learn that catfish eat beef! I do remember fishing for some kind of small fish in rivers and dams near Newman western Australia as a kid with steak on hooks in knee deep water, the fish would bite within a second or 2 of the bait hitting the water!
I don't care what you're fishing for, what you catch, or what baits you're using - I look forward to your videos every weekend! They get me through everything that's going on, and then some! Now I'm looking forward to using some 10" wacky rigs AND some ratty old cheap steaks for some of those St Lawrence lunkers later this summer. Not too many fishing trips left for me, I fear, but thanks to you I'm gonna enjoy them much more! Bless you, Matt!
Im impressed how brunt looking the landscape is up there. Here in Ga during the winter, we still have green here and there from evergreen trees. I always wanted to go to the black hills. My dad has been to Sturgis on his Harley.
It’s mostly elms and other deciduous trees along the Red River, not much green at all until things start growing back in the spring. A couple more weeks and it will look completely different out there!
