Canary males sing to find their mate, just like orioles. It's beautiful when they sing, but it also means that they are lonely. When I got to know that, I bought a female for my canary male and he was sooo happy! He sang a whole day going closer and closer to her. Now he only rarely sings but they do everything together and chit-chat all day, they are so cute. Some people keep then lonely just to hear them singing regularly - I think that's cruel.
kindly don't cage healthy birds, set them free. How will we feel if we are caged?
@@debabanighosh4950 they are not caged, they have a 2-storey jungle room in the tower of my house with large windows, lots of branches, a fountain and a birth bath. They fly around all day. If I let them free here in middle Europe they would freeze to death or die of hunger in winter.

@@debabanighosh4950 I absolutely agree with you. No animal should be locked in a cage or any other small place for a long time. It's cruel. Like chickens on an egg "farm" or pigs in a piggery, for their whole life, never seeing the sun, never being able to run, fly or swim freely... Many people think that animals don't have feelings but they do and they suffer.

My canary stoped Singin and not sure why after his first molt hasn't been the same when he listens to others sing paces side to side with excitement but that's pretty much it.
So aggravating cuz I know he's got it in them cuz when I first got him before his molt he was singing like a champ

@@alirichards4998 oh btw, I was told by a breeder that other breeders often sell off males who don't sing to pet shops, thus producing a line of silent baby canaries. You might have one. They like to keep the singing ones to sire more, when they have too many then they sell off most of them. If he is molting he won't sing either or still a baby.
