I listened to this sermon many years ago and it was extremely encouraging to me. I have 8 kids who we adopted through treatment foster care. They came to our foster home after many failed placements, mental hospitals, and much abuse. We did not look or function like other families. Books about raising kids did not fit ours. They were of many different ages when we adopted them, but none were innocent of carnal knowledge. Added to that my husband had stopped attending church and was showing more signs of mental illness which got worse as he got older. After our kids were grown and gone ( except two who are mentally handicapped; one is autistic) some said our family was “ dysfunctional “. No Kidding! This series is truth. All of us have issues. I got up every morning at 5 AM to pray and read scriptures. The Lord was my one source of strength and power. The Holy Spirit gave me perseverance and leading. He kept me busy in the Work He had called me to do. I had daily devotions with all the foster and adopted kids. I read them Christian biographies and testimonies to show them that God is still doing amazing works throughout the world with people who have suffered at the hands of others. We read Open Doors and Voice of the Martyrs monthly news magazines & letters. If we read about Christians burying their Bibles to hide them, we buried a Bible. We had our devotions outside in the heat or the cold as Christians in persecution did. We slept on the floor with one blanket and no pillow as they did in prisons. I wanted them to see they are not the only ones who suffered. Itis too grievous to me that our young people are taught psychology of self rather than introducing them to the suffering church and the suffering Savior. I love this series.❣️🙏🏻✝️

“Understanding “ was my thought, not “under “.
