In International Superstar Soccer 64, 0:00 is used for the game intro demo before the title screen, but in Mundial Ronaldinho Soccer 64, they used 10:32 instead, and I don't know why that change was made.
Man, why can’t modern sports games go back to having original, catchy tunes? I mean, I absolutely know why but it’s still a shame that they lack any sort of identity through their sound
The guys that produced music like this are either gone from Konami and working at another company, gone and working on their own albums and music careers, or just gone in general. Shame too, unlike most music done these days, these guys knew what they were doing and could even make hardware with “weak” audio sing.
I loved that you could just turn on the console and play. No downloading updates crap. No popup chains that you can't escape. No dreary indie music. Just uplifting fun, bright colours and happy times.
@@brucebarratt99 Well with Series X having a suspend option I guess the pick up and play aspect is back, plus really short loading times. The updates are good because it allows fixing errors without needing to replace the media, but I understand that it can be used to ship unfinished games out (not that it didn't happen back then too though) The popup chains can be mostly avoided by the legendary mash-until-the-game-starts technique. (unless they are those that impose a timer to hold it open. I hate those.) And yeah, I really prefer PS1, even PS2 era sports game soundtrack. It's way funkier!
The old ISS games always had slappy groovy music thanks to the composer Jimmy Weckl. MAN do i wish that modern football games had such glorious osts...
The basslines on this are absolute fire 🔥 🔥! Used the leave the console on from the night before and mum would switch it off by accident haha 20 years later my brother and I still laugh about this!
I wonder if the composers imagined that - nearly 30 years after its release - a fully-grown man on the other side of the world would be listening to this while making breakfast.
This same composer also did the port over of SNES Turtles In Time’s music. SEGA’s composers weren’t the only ones with this kind of sound, never were. This was a product of its time.
Does anyone know the name of the commentator from this game??? He's an absolute hero to my crew, SO pumped about commentating, it was a shame they made the commentators more subdued in the sequels.
When they still had their main composers. Akira Yamaoka, Michiru Yamane, (thank you for coming back on Bloodstained!) Harumi Ueko (AKA Jimmy Weckl for us Bemani heads, SNES Turtles in Time, and lead producer for this particular title among others, Shoichiro Hirata, Naoki Maeda, this list goes on and on. Every person on this list has moved on from Konami. When they among the others left, Konami lost a significant part of itself.
Loved this game as a kid. There was one... bug... oversight... strange occurance that could be triggered. I once got a penalty kick in overtime. Now in penalty kicks the game goes into a seperate mode just for that. I did the kick, hit the goal, the crowd goes wild. Then it switches back to the ACTUAL gameplay and recreates the penalty kick. Shortly after my dude kicked the ball, the referee blew his whistle and ended the game BEFORE the ball hit the goal, robbing me of my goal. lol.
Nah bro, I know I've heard this exact song before. I've done some thinking and I realize I think I remember hearing this in a PBG video. I think it had something to do with dog or something. If I find it maybe I'll link it here.

And the scenario modes? Dude, it was so much fun. But nowadays it is all about cards and Microtransaction bullshit
nba2k7 both had modern music and a unique identity since automator did all the tracks

Nothing will ever have the charm of 90s Japanese games OSTs
They were heavily influenced by Fusion Jazz so look that up if you want more of it!
@MHFiver is 100% correct. Check this: th-cam.com/video/kk-SeEVJ6_w/w-d-xo.html is kinda the style.
@@mhfiver2441 ikr. Kinda like how fusion jazz is somehow the default genre for 90's sports games

This ost slaps way more than it has any right to
KONAMI MUSIC ALWAYS SLAPS
=)
When it's about Football during the N64 / PS era, Konami was way ahead of EA. The ISSS series was superior to FIFA in all aspects.
ISSS 64 is still my favourite football game of all time
Even in the early PS2 era (but I prefer ISS over PES)
Yeah, nowadays it's more of a taste thing, but MAN were the early fifa games clunky...

8:07 best track in the game.

Well, the game is from 1997 so it makes sense.
Good times for me too.
