The long beard looks really great on you. Hope you keep growing it out.
Greg your beard looks great. I'm 70 and I'm growing my beard out so don't worry about your age it's just a number. As George Bruno would say let it grow and let it flow.
I think about those words everyday. I appreciate the encouragement.
This size is great on you, and don't change your mind 😊
I was one of those screaming Noooo, but ultimately you're the one that has to be happy about it. I like the big beard on you and it's inspired me and I'm sure many more out there. Happy birthday brother.
I think I heard you all the way down here when you did 😂
I really appreciate you, Tom!
I think you should keep growing Greg. I have a long beard (10") and I just blend the sideburns, trim the stache and only take a small amount occasionally from the length to keep it neat. My wife likes the longer beard. "Let it grow and let it flow" - George Bruno.
Happy Birthday brother!! I am the same way! I had my bigger beard and wanted to go shorter and went against my rule about waiting a few days and see how I feel! I didn't go too short but I'm like u as soon as I did it I wanted my bigger beard back lol so thats whats happening!
Yeah, exactly! And thank you!
My wife gets after me when it’s an inch and a half off the chin. She says it makes me look 10 years older. I took it down to half inch and l did notice the ladies giving me some looks. I made sure l told my wife!🤣
I would have done the same thing 😂
Looks great, mine is the same length but much more gray. The color of yours is really cool.
That's awesome, as today's my Yeard anniversary (7/1/24). I'm letting it go, withbno set plans to shave.
That is awesome!
Belated best wishes to you Greg. Looking forward to whatever your beard journey brings next. Keep it up.
Thanks so much!
Love it . Yeah your eyebrows were definitely getting out of control there. 😂😂😂 that was so funny
Glad you enjoyed 😁
Agreed! That was an unexpected laugh out moment!
Keep growing it out Greg it looks great and I find when I cut mine back or off I regret it and it takes soooo long to get it back. My beard is at the six months stage and I am going to keep going. Remember once it's gone it's gone I regretted shaving my yeard off that's why i am growing it out again. Like you said weight and time will sort out most problems. Good Luck. I'm 54 going on 55.
It’s always good hearing this from people who have experienced it
Youre 54?? Man you look incredible, dont overthink the beard. It looks amazing and weve seen it at different phases and they all look great
I really appreciate it, man!
Great to see you Greg beard looks amazing, I’m currently growing my big beard back out
Thanks man!
Do what you want with it. I grew a yeard in 2023, so cut it January 1-about 6 months ago. I was fully ready, especially to trim the stache. It was still scary, but it felt right. Love the way it is now so no regrets. Wait for it to feel right and some excitement for what you will do.
Happy Birthday Greg, you had me worried but the eyebrow trim was a great decision. I think the long beard is a great look for you but you do what is best for you. Would love to see a little shape up trim video if your going to take it longer but if you do decide to go shorter again please do a video of the small trim wait a day or two then do another trimming it down. Cheers
All beard lengths look great on you Greg.
@@mikeb8283 thanks
God dammnnnn you just scared the shit out of me haha, I was like don't you dare don't you dare NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Congrats for reaching your yeard goal but damm if you gonna trim it after all that time and effort, trim it back one inch at a time brother
That was funny 😆
I think you have the right idea
I’m in the same boat you are. I have a birthday coming up in a few weeks. I’m a little older than you are. A few years ago during Covid when the barbershops were closed, I had to trim my beard myself. Took too much off and regretted it and set a goal to grow it a bit longer by my next birthday. I’ve been doing that for the last couple of years - reevaluating the goal around my birthday and making some modest gains in length. I made some major progress in adding length over the past year, but started to worry that a longer, greying beard was making me look too old. I was convinced that it was time for a major trim back, but your videos convinced me to wait for two weeks before taking any action. In the end, I just couldn’t do it because it took too long to get to this point, and if I go back to a shorter beard, the waves and cowlicks that drove me nuts will be back. So for now, at least I am “stuck” with a long beard. And as long as that’s the case, I might as well go a little longer. You weee a major inspiration in helping me to get to this point. It would be a shame if you trim back that magnificent beard. Stay the course.
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement
Great video Greg, and happy birthday to you brotha. My name is Josh I met you over at bok tower gardens a few weeks ago. I have been working on my ginger beard for 6 months now and am trying to go for a yeard currently. It is definitely a challenge. Anyway it was a great meeting you and thanks for the awesome content.
So glad to hear from you. Please refresh my memory as to your wife’s name. I want to accurately acknowledge the both of you.
I really need to get that video edited.
I think mine is exactly where your projection is - on my chest. My suggestion is to do a little cleanup and let it grow. See where it takes you. When i was at your spot, i had the same dilemma but honestly i dont regret growing it.
That’s good to know. Thank you!
@@GregBoswell428 Cheers Boss-well ;)
The beard looks great!
Thank you
It's been a while, good to see you bro. Beard looks awesome to me.
Hey, thanks!
Definitely think the longer beard looks good on ya, however the shorter beard looks good too and I don't think I've ever seen you with a clean shaven face. I guess ultimately it's up to you man you're just one of those blessed men when I comes to beards and you can pretty much do anything and make it look good
Don’t cut it !! Just nip the ends! Looks awesome!!
Best thing about beard is you can always let it grow again. I got tired about all the time needed to take care of it and now I'm keeping a very short length. When I cut it anyway I'm always shocked ahahaha never been nice to look at the mirror after shave a long beard 😂
Fantastic beard 👍 👍💪💪😍😍😍😍😍😍
I’ve been following your journey to help me grow mine out and I’d like to say thanks for that.my year is up on the 3rd of July and this my my first big beard I’ve only done 6 months before I’ve decided I’m going to leave it until the 3rd of January
Keep me posted on your progress 🙂
The Lady definitely sees your trimmed eyebrows! You taught me that. 😊 Happy belated birthday, Greg! 🎉
@@tianshi8453 thank you so much
You and Greg Berzinsky are my guru's in the beard game. What ever you do I am sure it will be awesome. Let's goooooo!!
Wow, it’s an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as him. Thanks!
You had me there for a second as i thought you were going to trim your beard! If you do eventually trim it , i hope you record it!
I would definitely do that. I wouldn’t leave you guys out
Honestly , In my opinion the best beard size for you is #8 guard against the grain of the whole beard !
I think I might agree with you on that
Loved This! Wasnt sure what the heck you were going to do! Haha. I just lopped a bunch off my beard back to about a 5 inch beard which is probably one of the best if not the ideal look for me. My beard was hitting my chest all the time and I had let my mustache go for 6 months and honestly I just wanted to stuff a big hamburger in my mouth without a big stash. No regrets here, it grows back. Have fun with it. Happy belated Bday Greg!
Thanks Shane! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great Eyebrow Trim!!! I think your Beard is AWESOME, Greg. You will trim it when you’re ready. I also want to wish you a Very Happy Birthday, Brother 💪🤓🎉🎂❤️
Thank you, Chris!
When you said 54 I literally shouted "what?" out loud. You could easily pass as early 40s. I'd play with it if I was you. Tidy it up a bit if you want to keep it long and if not, trim it down in stages. This took way too long to grow to just chop it off in one session. You can literally try everything you can imagine with it right now.
Happy Birthday Greg! You've reached your goal with this beard and you're getting an itchy trigger finger so to speak. Bring it back down to medium size and reevaluate. I can't see the value in shaving completely and growing it back out.
Ultimately it's up to you but I'd be surprised if we don't see another within a week with some change.
On the other hand - do you really want to upset Santa? @SantaTomSmith
I think you have your finger on the pulse here. Good game plan.
No, we can’t upset Santa 😁
Hi Greg, I think it looks great. On my way to a year, growth now.
Best of luck!
Regretted chopping my yeard off last year. Had similar issues to the ones you described and went through a lot of different products to try to tame them but never quite hit the mark I was looking for. Wondering if more beard weight would have worked them out like you said. My two cents is keep going and reevaluate every 3 months or so - approx. 1 to 2 inches of new beard growth. That will let us put the Boswell beard-weight theory to the test and simultaneously give you more runway for those new beard products. First time posting here so just want to say thanks for all the beard and life tips. Discovered your content during the pandemic while searching for best methods on how to maintain a professional looking beard while growing it out. Haven’t seen every one of your videos but for the most part I really enjoy your content and have definitely borrowed a lot of your grooming techniques. Keep doing what you’re doing - good stuff.
You make some really good points here. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have the same kink in my beard, so annoying! It's one of the reasons I don't grow it too long.
Your beard looks great and you definitely don't look 54!
I vote for keep growing to the middle of the chest. If you don't try it, you will regret the setback! Plus so few guys have such a great looking beard at this length, it would be a shame not to grow it out a few more inches. Do you still find comfort in the longer beard?
Awesome beard man! I’m currently 6 1/2 months into my yeard will probably trim and shape it then grow another yeard lol
Go for it!
Great broadcast as always mate! My mantra goes something like this, "if in doubt do nowt"! This usually settles most quandries in my world 😅
I would definitely agree
I waited for a month and cut my two year beard and went down to a #6 , after a month I cut it down to a # 6 go-tee, I like it much better than the big beard, I don't like to look the same all the time, change is good 👍.
I agree. I’m addicted to it, I think
Keep cool, i love the style 😅
@@carstenneuhaus7972 wow, we look very similar. Judging by your profile pic
I have changed my profile pic. my wife says we look like siblings. 😊
@@carstenneuhaus7972 😂😂 pretty much
Happy Birthday pal 🎉 your beard looks great! And know you don't look older. Grow it more man all hale the beard.
Thank you!
Got to say Greg. I've had a Beard for about 5 years now. And always keep it about 4 or 5 inches long. I'm sooo ocd. And have to have it lined up and neat. Can't be doing with Scruffy beards. But each to there own. Keep up the great vids Greg. 😊
Thank you very much!
Your beard is awesome now but maybe go a little shorter for the summer (squared off at the collar) then let it flow again for the winter 🙂
You had me lol and glad that’s all you did for now- besides all those killer hats deserve the big beard. Stay Bearded 🤞🙏
I do believe that is one of the reasons to keep a sizeable beard
I say just let it rock man it's ironic the other day I was gonna trim my beard to a stubble stash I asked my wife what she thought and she said I like your beard. I slept on it glad I didn't I would have regret it . Sometimes it's just the mystery of wanting ro see your bare face again. But after a day or so you say yeah okay I remember my face now I want my beard back .
Razor in hand it seemed he was threatening to shave off his beautiful beard, not that he really wanted too. It will be a sad day for him when he finally parts with it.
Its Funny That You Did This Video Because I've Literally Been Struggling With This Same Problem Lately. I've Been Growing My Beard And Only Really Trimming The Stache. Sometimes I Want To Trim It But I Don't Know If I Should. I Know It Grows Back Sooooo.....
I would keep growing it, and maybe just trim the sides a little make it a little more straight and barely touch the bottom cause when it grows out more that curly side will straighten out you’ve gone this far. Keep growing it just do a very minimal trim on the sides And maybe tiny bit on the bottom where the split ends are
Happy Birthday. Your beard suits your height and physical size.
I'm 5'7. Mine is about as long as yours. I feel it makes me look shorter. Lol
Keep it growing! You must be doing something other than just shaving around your cheeks to keep it looking good.
Dare to be different personally I think it's time for a change and reduce the length by at least 2/3rds
I've never grown my beard that long and can't imagine how it must feel.
You can always grow it back out again if you really don't like a shorter length.
Hear you with the indecision 🤣🤣🤣 From none personal spectators perspective where you are could be a amazing journey for a long long long beard, but as much as i DO NOT want to shave currently i can very heavily relate to sort of missing my face, its the one thing i don't mention in the beard community much, that i am both inversely in a position i would never shave at the moment, but absolutely don't hate having a shaved face, just so long as its for myself and not because someone else said so. My beard is somewhat similar so assuming you aren't 6 foot 5+ i'd guess you are at 6 to 6.5 inches...I guess see you in two weeks with a decision 😛
This is not a recommendation what i can say despite liking length and feeling desire to go further, if i was better at trimming i would love a really nicely sculpted 3-4 inch beard, it is something i dwell on but either my confidence with trimming and or the corresponding talent keeps me from doing that. Plus i like the length i have even if you can't define it the same way generally. Lucky for you i don't think this is a problem you suffer, i'm sure the look will be great whatever you decide.
Gregg don’t you dare cut that amazing beard
😁 yes, sir!
First Happy Belated Birthday. I think you need to do what makes you feel good. On this side of the screen you guys with those thicker beards are our inspiration to try to get a beard that looks full and longer like the guys rock that type of beard. It's not that I would stop following because you went shorter. You do put good content, in my opinion.
Hey, I really appreciate that. Those are good words to hear.
Why not try the beardstache? 😉
Not sure I could pull that off
Happy birthday Greg! Have you ever considered putting Just For Men in your beard to see what it looks like? It might shave 15-20 years off your age.
No, no hair coloring for me
@GregBoswell428 is there a reason you're against beard dye? I also have a lot of grey and sometimes get jealous of those jet black sharp beards I see
@@kk813 well, you can spot a colored beard from a mile away and I think it makes a man look insecure
@GregBoswell428 I've never used it either and not planning to but my white hairs always seem 'weaker' than the darker ones. Might grow it longer and see how it goes. I have a hollow beard so don't think it will look as magnificent as yours but I'll find out! Keep up the good work 🙂
I'm the same way,
Love the big beard on you but understand if you want to trim it back, just a little though.
That’s probably what I’ll do. A little touch up and sculpting
Hahaha😂 funny; me too!
😁
Ya got me ! hahaha
😂😂
Hi I'm about 7 months growing it is a journey have you tried beard braid?it would be a change an it would look great on your beard👌🤙
I have actually been looking at it because it has been suggested by a couple of people lately
Glad you didn't shave the beard, I'm growing mine
I’m glad you’re glad. Don’t give up on it
Shave it all the way and then grow it back again
I’m sure I will at some point 👍
It's here. It's arrived. The moment I've been dreading for 11 months is finally before me, and there is no escape. It must be faced. It must be confronted. It must be acknowledged.
The dreaded 'where do I go from here?' video has been deployed and it has landed with the impact of an intercontinental ballistic missile equipped with a nuclear warhead.
My officially short response is: its your beard, you must do with it whatever you will.
My officially long response is: There are trillions of beard brothers on TH-cam, but there are only three official Beard Gods.
1. Berzinsky
2. Dan C
3. His Royal Holiness, Emperor Gregus Boswellium of the Polkium Empire
I cant watch Berzinsky. Sorry, but no. Just... no.
I love Dan but I have beard balm that was born before he was, so he makes my paternal instincts kick in, and I find it hard to be led, guided and instructed by such a young (yet very fine) gentleman.
Then we have Emperor Gregus; the official Man on the Beard Pedestal. The man with the finest beard in the northern hemisphere.
Pleading with you to let the beard keep on growing wouldn't be the right thing to do, because it is - after all - your beard and your face (Background music to be played at this point: Man in the Mirror / Michael Jackson), and whatever you choose to do, you're always going to look fabulous (Background music: The Look / Roxette) and even if you chop the whole thing off and shave your face so smooth that people would be able to see their reflection in it, you'll still be The Man on the Beard Pedestal (Background music: I Will Follow Him (Sister Act version / Deloris Van Cartier and the Nuns of the Our Lady of the Holy Paddle Brush Church in Auburndale FL), because - as you might say in American parlance - "you are all that, bro"
I shall be here, no matter what, for although a beard is a journey, its never a single journey. The Yeard journey may (or may not) be coming to an end, but there are future beard-related shenanigans, life lessons, book reviews and hat modelling to eagerly look forward to and enjoy.
Hail Emperor Gregus. Long live the Polkium Empire.
(Background exit music: O Fortuna / Carl Orff)
@@akwiredtaste I am never disappointed by your responses. If I ever get a television show I will hire you as my writer and producer 😂😂
@@GregBoswell428 well I’m pretty expensive, you know. My unique brand of BS comes with a high price tag 😅😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂👏🤣
Personally, while a yeard is certainly respect worthy I'm not a fan of them.
You like change, letting it grow is change, constantly. Just sayin.
You’re not wrong 🙂
You should shave and start over. Do a weekly video showing the different growth stages.
That’s exactly what I want to do someday
Don't shave, please.
cut it down
Sooner or later
trim the beard 4mm up .
That was one I was considering
