Fabulous lads really enjoyed that and totally get what you are saying and understand your points , always great to hear how you have your ears to the ground and finger on whats happening in Japan . A proper wealth of knowledge and experience to draw help, opinion and constructive collection of quality koi from . Keep it up!!
I think for me it's about setting realistic goals with what you want from your pond and the fish you buy if you want a pond full of 80cm plus very high end koi that comes with an associated cost I've always found the development growth and progression of a fish the most rewarding part taking a fish from 15cm to 45+ from tosai to nisai and seeing the pattern etc develop testing you eye and that is still very achievable even on a budget
Not my intention to pee in anyone's tea but I am not sure that the majority of "garden variety" pond-keepers are necessarily hell-bent on getting top notch koi or would even know one if they sat on it. I get you are educating us on how to get as much bang for our buck, much appreciated, but when you go on about Japanese auctions and top bloodlines that is waaaay above my range.
It seems like you're always talking about a limited world, but there are more and other options. To use one analogy, if you can get involved in the breeding of breeders, you will have less need to buy at the asking price. Well, all of them will be in stages.
Another great Koi Talk, speaking common sense, educating and sharing your knowledge and experience has really helped develop me in the hobby, Keep it up Fellas👍
