2022 Toyota Sienna LE review. Hybrid Efficiency!

  • I was so excited to get a super base LE trim Sienna as a rental here on our trip to Central Florida. I personally love seeing what exactly constitutes a base vehicle in today's age. My discovery was that it was quite nicely equipped actually. I also found that the Sienna's hybrid powertrain delivered fuel economy that rivals that of some much smaller sedans.

Thanks for reviewing a base model! It seems to be more realistic to what most regular families would look for. I’ve mostly seen the XLE, but the LE is what checks all the marks for myself! I’m amazed the 2.5 hybrid doesn’t feel weak for you. I’m still nervous about this powertrain vs the older v6.

It definitely doesn't have the punch of the V6 in the Odyssey I have reviewed, but it is more than ample.

With $4...$5 gas here to stay, this is a no brainer for me. The Odyssey is nice too but gets dismal fuel economy...19 miles in the city vs 35 for the Sienna. That's a massive difference.

I do prefer the way the Odyssey drives, I'd probably go Sienna for the gas mileage. It's not like it's a sports car. It's a minivan, and the Sienna is really good at being a minivan.

Good stuff JJ! This is one of the contenders for a replacement family vehicle. It's interesting that the hybrid/gas powertrain is still harsh during the transitions.

Hybrids are what they are...not race cars but as long as it's powered enough with such great gas mileage should make owners happy...especially with gas prices what they are,.

Thank you so much for the video. Been on waiting list for Sienna le 2022 for 1.5 months. Dealer said one will be arriving mid oct. Been thinking if we should switch to xle. I think we will just save $ and go with LE. Will sorely miss power trunk door.

Upgraded 2016 xle awd to 2022 xle fwd hybrid. AWD has no extra func. for me but I save 170 dollars on gas every month compare to 2016 model. So why do you even need AWD? Just curious.

The benefit of the Toyota hybrids as well is their standby mode with climate control. You can literally sleep in these overnight and keep it cool or warm depending on the climate needs and only use about a gallon of gas to do it .

It gets louder because it has to rev up because it has a cvt transmission which need high revs when you step on the gas. But my mother doesn’t press on the gas so it doesn’t get that loud.
