Plants around the gap are great, but I wonder how much actually embracing the gap would work - making it look like the walls have been damaged by the plants growing.

Regarding the plants covering the gaps, great idea and the one there being kinda straight is good. But the second one then should probably be a bit less straight, going more sideways (therefore bigger I guess) so that it looks natural? Or what about adding to it a water gutter from the top platform to the floor, with some plants growing on it of course.

I see you skipped the planning episode from the German channel, so I post my ideas here. ;-)
One would be a nice city park where your minifigs can relax and enjoy the green environment.
Another one would be a big hospital, i think you could make interesting stories with that and it would fit nicely in a big city.
The hospital could be besides the roundabout/tram bridge where you have outlined the blue, white and yellow buildings.
