  • Here's a video I produced/edited back in 1999 for a special honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War. Please ignore the cheesy fog machine stand-up. :) I was a young Marine combat correspondent still finding his way.

What they achieved to push the North Korean/Chinese back was a great feat. American soldiers in Korea deserve more respect. Truman could have nuked North Korea and ended the conflict for good.

Join the Marines. There's nobody there that doesn’t know about it. Fun story, when the army retreated, we recovered their tanks, apc, artillery pieces. Eventually they found their way to a few Marine ranges. We told the army they are welcome to come get them. Of course they are on live ranges. They decided we could keep them. Theres still rusted parts of them to this day😂

@@007Nox Well I’d start off by telling him how much you respect and love him. Then ask if you would be able to sit down and document his life for posterity, not just his time in the war but rather his entire life. There are likely just as many stories from his childhood and even later years that would probably surprise you, this will also allow him to feel more comfortable knowing you don’t just want to hear war stories. I’d ask him these sorts of things
      1. Ask what his parents and grandparents names were if he knows them.
      2. Where and when he was born.
      3. What his childhood was like growing up
      4. Ask for a good story or two from his youth (shenanigans, parties, dates, etc)
      5. Ask him when the Korean conflict broke out does he remember where he was?
      6. Did he enlist or was he drafted? If he enlisted further this up by asking him what made him want to enlist. If he was drafted ask him how he felt when he got his notice.
      7. Ask him about boot camp and his drill instructors.
      8. If you have photos of him with other soldiers perhaps ask him about the friends he made and who they were
      9. Ask him what infantry division and regiment he served in.
      10. Ask him what his thoughts were when he first landed in Korea
      11. Ask him if he is comfortable discussing a bit of his combat experience, and if not don’t push him. If he is, don’t ask him about killed friends. Perhaps ask him to give you a situation or two where he was under fire and the feelings he had being shot at and having to shoot back for the first time. And perhaps any other good or fun stories from his time in Korea because I’m sure there were a few despite how bad it was
      12. Ask him about his return back to the states and his first day back with family.
      13. Ask him what he did after the war. (Jobs, wife, house, moving around, having a family, etc.

He was tank battalion over there… and when he came home he was never the same… my grandma would have to stand across the room and take a small ball and throw it just enough that it would barely touch my grandpa while he was asleep to wake him up cause he had to sleep alone cause he would come up out of his sleep fighting ready to hurt what ever touched him.. It took him years to be able to be some what normal again… but what ever he did go through over there he never spoke of to anyone in the family.. It was a burden he carried alone the rest of his life.

My daddy was a combat medic in the Korean War. I have his brass medic pin, and his uniforms, helmet, and his American flag that was given to us at his Military service in 2019. He lived to be 82. Didn’t watch anything pertaining to any war on tv. In his later years, he opened up and had every detail about his experience remembered and shared a lot of stories. It breaks my heart that he lived in a “ frozen hell foxhole for 9 months’ and stood watch like his fellow soldiers. I miss him so much, but he made it home. He first served in the Navy then the Army. Richard E Paschal E-4, US Army Combat Medic. I think he was there in 1952-1953. Just a baby. Rest easy daddy.

It's because Korea was the same ww2 generation and the TV 📺 or idiot box were just beginning to invade American homes therefore no protest. It's ironic I think the Korean War was worse than Vietnam because it was the same issue communist north vs American South Korea like north/south Vietnam except no one knows we actually won and took over North Korea than millions of Chinese pushed the biggest retreat in us military history while Seoul fell again to china. Then the war went on like ww1 trench warfare. Nuclear weapons were about to be used on china bringing Soviet Union to WW3. The firing of MacArthur and the Americans fighting the Chinese kind of the American Stalingrad. Ironically America is at good standing with Vietnam today but the North Korea issue is still war drumming while technically still at war with North Korea. In the Marxist school called my highschool there was only 1 page talking about Korea. But of course millions of pages about Vietnam not about the soldier but on all the liberal bulshit that was the counterculture. Unfortunately all u brave vets suffered for bankers wars. I'm one of the few millennials that know things like this

My great grandfather, we called him poppy because back in the day in the 50s he would actually sell poppies from a small stand, served as a medic in the Korean war, and a lot of people assume that korean war vets had some kind of unspoken hatred towards koreans, but it really wasn't the case.

My great grandpa was a master gunnery sergeant, he entered the marines and fought in the Korean War and Vietnam. James Fred brookshire was his name . I wonder how many people fought under his command. We have presidential accommodation letter that say stuff like “without your expertise and military strategy we would not have done this or that and it’s super cool reading those letters today. I believe he entered the marines when he was 15 and lied about his age to join because both of his parents died . He passed away in 2015.

I wish I could learn more, or anything really, about my grandfather’s experience. He was in the Marines. Never talked about it, at least around me. Maybe I was too young (I was 7 when he died) but I heard *a lot* of things that weren’t “appropriate” for a child to hear growing up, so its easy to believe he simply couldn’t.
Him and my grandmother fought a lot…like, screaming and yelling and almost constant. But he was always sweet to me…my grandma never went a week without crying until the day she joined him. He was smart and sarcastic. Loved dogs, particularly collies. Loved talking about our Scottish heritage, even listened to bagpipes in the car. Liked to remind me of the clan motto “hold fast.” Always working. Wanted to work on his surveyor projects even in the hospital. Didn’t talk politics. Hated fireworks.
I’ve only seen one picture of him in Korea. He had a helmet on, was at a camp of some sort with a couple other guys around, and he had a mustache that he never sported again after. My favorite part: he’s looking directly into the camera and flipping it off.
Sorry to write so much and I’m sure it’s been too long to hope for a response, but if by chance there’s anybody reading this who might know the name John MacLeod…it would be amazing to hear.

When I hear of vets tell their stories and recall those they’ve killed, I wonder if one of those people were my grandmother or grandfather. My mother was 8 when the fighting started. Both parents died. Her 3 younger siblings became hers. I don’t feel ill feelings toward these Korean War vets; I just wish it never happen. It really tore her family up that they’ve never recovered. Mother is almost 77 now. I wonder if she still thinks of her younger days in Korea where bombs and blood took precedence. I’ll never ask her though where her and her siblings hid, how they ate, if she still remembers..... I don’t have the heart to open that wound. ✌🏼

At my dafd company one of his long time employees was in thus age group so Korea was his war Vietnam was mine. We both had been in 82nd so we had occasional discussions on his military service he was a typist and was in headquarters company so he was privy to much of the weekly paper work and personnel. Some photos and company portraits were brought in one day and he pointed out in this group shot of g.I.s in the headquarters office some of his buddies who were wounded kia and mia. Out of 15 or so men 8 were killed wounded or missing. I gasped as he was lovingly remembering each individual with a little story. He commented that guys were sent up to the front line and handed a rifle and experienced tough fighting night and day. We as a country would never accept this casualty rate of our boys in this day volunteer army.

I am shocked that more people have not watched this. What soldiers suffered in all American wars should be taught in schools to learn part of our heritage. Unfortunately, school books are primarily written by liberals and every generation our children grow up learning less about God and the truth of their heritage. Now look at the national condition of millions of our children and their parents. .... Single mothers raising a family, aimless population that believes anything that sounds good to them, fed by mainly liberals. .... And many millions of Americans do not have a clue as to what happened and how to live meaningful lives. .... And many believe our constitution should be destroyed and our nation become socialist. .... Yes, most will be treated the same under a socialist government, everyone but the top of the "elite" as they like to be known, will be surfs. If socialism is so great, let them move to Russia, China or some other socialist country and leave us alone.

It is the progressive left that's causing all this destruction and destabilization of our children. They not only have taken all signs of christian/buddhism out of text, but they have recently added sharia law teachings. You really don't understand the little war the left have going do you? This is all about votes, they sell the country for votes to elite european powers.
