In a single stage placement situation the dental implant is placed and at the same time the healing cap is also placed. This means that there is only one surgical procedure to finish the surgical part of the treatment.

A few hours ago, I had the implant and cap procedure done. I was told to come back in two weeks to have the stitches removed. I will have to wait four months for healing to complete. For anyone wondering, I didn't experience any pain during the procedure. Quite a bit of pressure, though. At the moment, I'm starting to feel the local anesthetic disappearing, and there's some pain coming through. I anticipate I'll have to take paracetamol fairly soon. So far, the most inconvenient thing about all this is the bleeding I'm experiencing. I've rinsed a couple of times with salt water, and I'm changing out my gauze every half hour or so.
How was the pain after that?
@@shabrasanoon1823 It was pretty bad for 3-4 days. I won't sugarcoat it. I had trouble sleeping, and experienced bruising along my jaw.

@@shabrasanoon1823 It doesn't come without any pain. Most people end up with minimal pain and others are not so lucky like me. Yes, the pain went away after a week and a half or so. I'm going to get a checkup in a few days again because when I went for my initial checkup, the implant itself has become loose and needed to be tightened again. For this, I needed anesthetic again. It hurt for another couple of days but then it went away.
I had no healing cap. After implant was installed the gum was sewed closed. 4 months later the periodontist cut the gum open to expose the implant then a cap was placed upon it. 2 weeks later I saw dentist. He removed the cap/cover and made impressions for the final crown..

@@dentalsoftware Don't know why, though i get shivers down my spine when I read what you wrote. I am just woah, I just want the simplest and easiest and less painful way of having if done.. also do not know anyone when it comes to dentists and reputations in australia.

It's not painful: but it is scary. I've had 2 done.

i can imagine its like a root canal after the dentist removes the pulp in the roots you have no feeling in that tooth anymore but you get used to the crown over time and@@vyrkolach5546
Got my first a couple days ago. Stitches are in and never had the first pain. Going back for checkup in 2 weeks then it will be 2.5 months to heal then put a tooth on it.

The most inconvenient part for me was the taste of salty blood the first days. I am
on phase 2 where the gum was again opened and a topper was put in, more stitches. In a month they will get the impression for the crown/
I had four professional doctors by my side, while this was done to me today. I am sending them some fudge.

What's the difference between stage 1/2?
in 2 staged, you put the screw in the bone, then let it heal and then u put the healing abutment, this needs 2 appointments. in 1 stage, u put the screw and then the healing abutment, all in the same day.

Y dont u use orthodontic treatment to bring second molar and wishdom tooth tho drag is that possible
No there is a limit to how much they can move the teeth. The roots of the teeth are cemented at particularly part of the bone. They can make minute adjustments here and there vertically and horizontally but not a whole tooth gap
I wish my dentist explained this to me before I committed to doing this treatment plan.

If we can do in one stage, why do we need two stage procedure?
i think one step a bit risky because in two stage operation the dentist completly cover the healing area thus no food particle leak to the bone . that means connection between bone and implant is more likely to heal.. on the other hand , in one stage operation the healing cup is outside the gum and there is a boundry between gum and healing cup. This area may leak food particles to inside of the gum and jaw bone and may cause implant loss .. Thats what i think

Mine hurts. I had the procedure done 5 days ago and it still hurts
My gums only hurt for a couple of days after my procedure but after that felt normal
@AceSS1285 now on the 8th day, I don't need any pain medication. My gums are now just sore and the stitches finally dissolved.
It’s not. I just had three implants plus one bone graft and an implant done all at the same time. Wasn’t as bad as I thought! I just had my two week follow up appointment today. It’s definitely not as scary as it seems! Promise.

Not at all! My dentist is amazing. He put 2 implants two days ago; I've had zero pain during or after the procedure. It really depends on the dentist!
Ibuprofen takes care of minimal pain afterwards - not a big deal
