oh, the automatic offset adjustment is awesome. I could see this coming in handy for getting the offset correctly adjusted using actual beatmaps. I mean, it's not a super huge deal, but for the people who use wireless headphones or have really bad latency will feel this small addition as a godsend.

A map can be perfectly timed, but a player might prefer to hear the hitsounds earlier/later than the mapper of the map anticipated them to do (once again it's not because the mapper is wrong, but because players might want to experience it earlier/later). It's about finding your preferred offset and this tool implemented in lazer does help players find their individual offset very well. So you don't just need it on a beatmap that's misstimed. It's a very good feature for everyone in general.
I think it's a great feature for experienced players. But unfortunately, new players should not touch this setting at all, they haven't adapt to the basic timing yet. It would be very confusing each time they play the map.

@@ninjalega this means you have to make the song sound late so you feel the hitsounds timed with the song, that means ur computer audio latency sucks ass. i would recommend getting a proper dac and linux os, audio latency is a lot lower in a linux distro
Those new mods are pretty cool, especially alternate since I've been trying to learn full-alt. Something that I still really want as a feature though is a "no repeats" option for the f2/random song selection. I can spam f2 a dozen times and land on the same 5 maps over and over again...
I can't really switch to lazer even just for fun until they fix mania, not only it feels stuttery compared to stable, there are also HP issues and various other problems, LN's feel different.

I am still shocked that there are people who dont alternate. When I started Osu I literally thought you HAVE TO alternate otherwise it will break your combo. I can single tap aswell, but not nearly as good as alternating. I mean I think 2 years ago I was ~#6000 and now I decayed to about #21k since I stopped playing completely and came back to it since yesterday. I can't believe how hard it is to get 4 digits these days, it's insane.
Honestly I feel like they may be adding too much. I would rather have the actual release now, with accessible leaderboards, maybe pp gain and the old scores getting converted to the new scoring system
I bet you the extra game modes are made by people for fun, open-source projects tend to get a lot of small features, I'd say the osu that we all know came to existence around 2012-3, so this still isn't too off schedule if you consider that. osu lazer is still getting major adjustments now which means, it's gonna be like this for a while longer. I'd be willing to have osu lazer right now if you could submit pp if you enabled the classic mod even. I'd still be willing to wait though, lazer is still very unoptimized and needs some work to run on lower end systems, keep in mind that stable right now will run on netbooks.
Ikr. Those crazy mods are too much imo. I don't mind the release date but I really hope they're not putting too much effort on something that people wouldn't use.

@@JessicaFEREM Lazer is optimized...for the average modern computers at least. There's not much they can do other than remove all the fancy effects to make it playable, I believe.

I installed osu!lazer few days ago and i think i stay with standard osu for now. I am quite a beginner and barely do 4 stars but i was disappointed grouping in main menu disappeared, only sorting left so i couldn't navigate through my list properly. Options in main menu are a little bit limited, especially i have a problem with tablet driver. I am using Ubuntu and if i turn on ingame driver my tablet doesn't work anymore but with ingame driver turned on opendrivertablet doesn't work. Skin editor is cool. Performance in native linux version is the same as in standard osu through wine (no lutris) after installing pipewire

I was thinking about how cool it would be if you could automatically change your offset in real time to get better scores.

Please use the mod combo Magnetised (.8), BarrelRoll (12.00), Grow (0.01) and Hidden. By far my favorite mod combos in Lazer.
