    Great work. Thanks. What about OrangeScape?

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi jnaras, thanks a lot! OrangeScape and KiSSFLOW both came up while we were researching for this script, but sadly didn't make it onto the list - if I'm remembering correctly, it was because the other SaaS startups on the list were more heavily funded than OrangeScape, and funding was the metric that we used to compile this list. Would need to fact check this though.
      It was pretty difficult to select just ten startups, as SaaS is a really large space here in India and there are a lot of awesome startups. In hindsight, we also missed Postman, which is now a unicorn. Hopefully we can make a new version of this list at some point in 2021 which is current and up-to-date. Maybe we'll make it a Top 25 list instead of Top 10, because 10 feels like too small a number for SaaS startups in India. Either way, thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed the video. -Caleb

Then, we use company websites, blogs, their official youtube channel, credible news websites and founder interviews to get more information and verify across these platforms to look for the most updated information. Apart from that, we also use latest reports by firms like Deloitte, KPMG, and NASSCOM to get a broader perspective of the industry.

    can u please show me the pathway how can i start the saas company and what knowledge should i have

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ajay, well, we here at Backstage with Millionaires have never started a SaaS company, so we aren't sure how to either. But do take a look at any and all of our videos about SaaS (there is a large playlist of SaaSpreneurs on our channel) and you will know everything that we do about starting a SaaS company. Believe it or not, most entrepreneurs don't have a lot of business knowledge or highly specific, refined skills. What sets entrepreneurs apart from other people is 1. They are able to identify a problem that people need a solution to (and I will add that this needs to be something that people are willing to pay for) and 2. They are willing to take a huge risk and invest significant amounts of time, energy, and money in order to solve that problem. As long as you have these two things, jump in and start! 🙂 The tricky part is finding a problem worth solving and unfortunately, because all of the obvious problems are already being solved by people. So you'll need to latch on to something before too many other people realize how large an opportunity it is. Good luck!

Good luck!

      Hi Yeshwanth,
      Firstly, thanks for taking the time to watch our video and commenting.
      As to your question, I don't think I have any logical reason for not including Chargebee.
      The only problem we had while curating the list was that there are a lot of amazing SaaS startups from India (for good reasons as we mentioned in the video).
      We knew we were going to miss out on a lot of fantastic startups no matter what we tried. So, in the end, we went with the option of keeping the 10 most funded startups based on our research.
      If you have any more questions, we would be glad to answer them.

    Can i ask what brokerage will give you access to the Indian stock market

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Roy, I'm assuming from your name that you're a foreigner. If you're not, my apologies. In India, as long as you belong to one of the eligible countries (it is a long list so I won't paste it here, but you can find it with a quick Google search) you can invest in Indian stocks as a QFI (qualified foreign investor). As a QFI, you can interact with any Indian stock broker as long as that broker _is_ a QDP or your purchase/sale orders are going through a QDP before reaching the broker. A QDP is a Qualified Depository Participant, and there are 62 of them at the moment. That is where I would recommend that you start: looking through the list and picking a QDP. Some of those QDPs may even be brokers themselves, which will simplify the process, or you can reach out to a non-broker QDP as well. I'm not sure if QDPs take a cut of your trades or not (I assume that they would if they are a non-broker QDP) but either way, that list is your starting point: www.sebi.gov.in/sebiweb/other/OtherAction.do?doRecognisedFpi=yes&intmId=15
      P.S. as someone who has been living in India for 3 years, trust me when I say that if you're just trying to do this casually, it's going to be a huge headache for you. India does _not_ make it easy for non-Indians to do things in India whenever government or banks are involved. There will be tons of documents that you need to submit, painfully designed websites you need to use, long waits for email replies or phone calls, a bunch of prerequisites which you will need to apply for and complete, technical glitches, and maybe even a bit of under the table payments if you want the process to go more smoothly/quickly. If you can find a QDP who will do all of this heavy lifting for you, then I think you should go ahead. However, if you're planning to take a more DIY approach, you might be better off investing in another country.
      Hope this helps! -Caleb

      @@roym1444 Hi Roy, we may end up making a video detailing the process for foreigners to invest in India, yes. Recently, Reliance Industries made international news because of its very high valuation and investment from a number of different companies like Facebook, so people are taking more and more notice of India's stock market these days.
      As for your business opportunity idea, I think that you're right! Most brokers are focusing on getting more of India to invest in Indian stocks, but if someone could simplify and streamline the process of investing in India for non-Indian people, they might be able to make a lot of money!
      And yes, as Dancing Freakz has said, Zerodha is a great company which has made investing in stocks easy for Indians. However, I'm not sure whether they support foreigners investing in India stocks. I know that if you are a foreigner living in India, Zerodha does have some options for you. But I'm not sure if, living in Dublin, you would be able to access stocks through them. Try tweeting at them or shooting them an email. why do you make videos on india only?

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi mate ts, it's kind of a long story, and we will share that story with the BwM community once we hit 10K subscribers, but the short version is that I came to India more than 3 years ago to travel and ended up living here, first in Delhi and now in Bangalore - after about a year and a half, my friend Prithvi, who is a serial entrepreneur (th-cam.com/video/9MznBL37ayk/w-d-xo.html) asked me if I wanted to start a TH-cam channel with him: his role was to be the director and expert on entrepreneurship, and my role (as someone who knew very little about entrepreneurship) was to be the camera man/editor. However, as time passed and we learned what worked and what didn't work on TH-cam, and as my knowledge of entrepreneurship grew, we changed from our original plan and I ended up in front of the camera doing interviews in Bangalore while Prithvi was working on building his own startup in Delhi. Then the pandemic happened, and interviews stopped, meaning that I was in front of the camera 95% of the time, making videos like this one! But to specifically answer your question about why we as a channel make videos about India only, the main reason is that our audience is Indian. We started making content for Indians back at the start of 2019, and so trying to change our audience now wouldn't really make a lot of sense. But at some point if we can expand our channel to include content directed at people from other regions in Asia a bit, or at Asian people as a whole, I think that that might be worthwhile! But we would need to grow our BwM team first, because at the moment all three of us are working as hard as we can just to focus on keeping up with India's startup ecosystem! -Caleb

    We call men as kids if they are yet to grow up. But the problem is that biologically they are still men.

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a really good question Nidhish!
      Actually, there is no clear definition of a startup. Although, if you want your company company to be identified as a startup under the Startup India scheme, then your company should not be more than 10 years old and should have a revenue of under Rs 100 crore.
      By this definition, most of Indian giants like Paytm, Byju's or Oyo might not qualify as startups.
      Definition of a startup will change from person to person as everyone has their own criteria.
      But in general terms, every company that is young, has ambitious goals, provides unique and innovative product, and continues to scale/grow at a rapid pace can be called a startup. The founders of a startup are driven by a shared vision. Finding new markets for their product that didn't exist previously are some of the key things you will find in a startup.
      I know its not a clear definition but that's because their isn't one. There is just a structure.
      Hope that helps you somewhat.
