Re your favourite trick #2 - I would describe this as an X-Wing on the 4's - which then eliminates the possibility of a 4 in Columns 5 and 6 of block 5 - then the location of the 4 (in block 5) just falls out. Net-Net this is the same as your method and the logic - spot this and the puzzle fall logically from this point.
04:54 simple yet fun, noice! The sudoku had a great flow. I didn't have to use your "favorite trick #2" but this is a famous trick that I use a lot! Thank you for the solve 😎
Thanks to your solving guide and videos, I can now solve medium sudoku puzzles. Still trying to get my brain around X and Y wings. I even try making the Star Wars sounds but it’s not helping.
Over the past several puzzles, I've been speeding up with the opening solves. I still reach a point where I get stuck on the harder puzzles, but now I reach the point where I get stuck quicker. I did this puzzle in 18:32 (that's pretty good for me with a medium puzzle), then watched the video to see how it was done faster. It turns out that Timberlake opened up pretty much the same way I did, so I guess I'm on the right track.
It is interesting that this gets a mid-range Medium rating in HoDoKu, as it needs no techniques beyond basic number following. Here's my third path, which is a little more efficient than the first two, and which requires no counting at all (27 = row 2 column 7): 27, 89, 72, 28, 29, 54 (hidden DCE, revealed by simple number following), 62, 83, 98, 18, 88, 81, 71, 52, 67, 57, 12, 22, 55, 92, 82, 97, 87, 77, 95, 26, 94, 33, 23, 13, 21, 25, 24, 85, 84, 86, 63, 43, 59, 58, 66, 65, 76, 75, 16, 15, 56, 61, 51, 48, 49, 38, 39, 34, 35, 44, 45. I am sure if I were to do this another few times, the path would become so easy to follow that it would seem almost self-solving. But of course, in competition, only the first path counts. There's no time for refinement, optimization, counting (unless things get sticky), nor even for the famous “neat triple trick”. And for me, there's no time for physical notation.
You make a great point, Julian, about how you only get one shot in competition. I think the analysis you did here helps you solve future puzzles faster. Thank you for sharing that.
I found it amusing to just start like this 27, 57,67,77,89, 29,28,18,... With this, everything going left is almost completely in plain sight. I am so bad when I need to count numbers, this was a joy.
I used unique strategy several times. Cracking the Cryptic doesn't like that, almost considering it cheating. They want to let something else resolve the matters.
Anything goes when solving in competition. If the purists refuse to use URs, then they had better have some fast alternatives, or they will simply lose. I skipped a couple of URs in this grid, but only because there were other readily available options.

Awesome job, Ana. I think you are ready for the Sudoku Grand Prix!
With the tricks that I’ve learned from this channel I am able to solve hard sudokus
I am glad to hear that, John. Thank you for sharing.
Are there any particular strategies you would me to focus on in future videos?

Hah! I would have thought that the Star Wars sounds would help. Thank you for sharing, Dave. 😀

I think you are, too, Brad. Thank you for sharing. Glad to hear that you are getting through the early solving quicker.
I could see solves you could do in blocks 3,6,9 before you started doing Snyder. I always try to get rid of the simplest solves first. :)
Took 11:11. I messaged you the 3 unique rectangles I found 😂I enjoyed this more than my Chick Fil A
That's saying something. I love Chick Fil A.

Awesome job doing this one Notation Free 😎
Is there somewhere where I can find the times for this puzzle?
Solved in 6:04
Thank you for sharing. I do not post expected solve times for these puzzles. Several viewers will share their solve times like you did. Nice job!

Yeah I had 3 UR's.
6:17 to solve. 🎉
Way to go, Jon! I got your test email reply. I hope we can get this BMAC issue fixed.
