His O-Line did a good job. I want to see how Kenny Pickett does when he's under a lot of pressure. Sure Pickett scrambled a little bit but that's with college pressure where the players are weaker and slower than NFL players. Can't really assess how fast Pickett can process and go through the reads in this clip because he had such good protection. The ability to quickly go through reads is one of the most important skills an NFL QB needs to have. Don't know if Pickett has that ability from watching this video.
As a Pitt fan, I can say that while our Oline was overall spectacular in pass protection, there were games where he was pressured heavily and showed why he’s among the best in this class. The Clemson and Miami games come to mind. He has the gumption to extend plays and doesn’t shy from contact, making him very good at handling pressure.
This is who Pittsburgh needs to replace Ben. Some who can pass from the pocket but still escape the pocket and make plays. Pickett would work perfect for the Steelers offense.
Big ben will be missed. He was a great. Then sadly that motorcycle accident ended it. He was a big beast and so accurate. Not only that the offensive line stopped showing up. Steelers will not be the same without him.
If your highlight tape don’t start of with, and how come every teachers motto is, music ain’t gon do for you what college did for me, it don’t hit the same
So excited for this kid to come to Pittsburgh...oh wait been there done that...Love how he keeps looking down the field for the open man, even while the pocket collapses. Flashes of Big Ben. Just a slightly smaller, but more mobile version.
He’s got the anticipation, creativity, vision, size, speed, elusiveness enough for the position and more than anything a swagger like joe burrow or Rodgers, some guys just got a different instinct and feel for the game i hope the Steelers trade up for him cuz i don’t think he’s be available
Great video again! This kid could be something special in the NFL. Love his instincts in the pocket and on the scramble. Could be the next Justin Herbert or better.
Born June 6, 1998. Played high school football for the Ocean Township Spartans (NJ). Played college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers. Drafted #20 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hey at least he doesn't have to move for his next job.
Your vids are great I’m excited to watch also I want Pickett on the Steelers because he would be a great player for us (assuming he works out in the pros) so #keeppickettinpittsburgh
Thanks! Would be great to keep Pickett in Pittsburgh, but his stock has been rising quickly & could continue to rise even higher as we get closer to the draft.
I wouldn't be mad if the steelers traded three first round picks for him. When you know your dude is there, you have to take him. And the good thing is steelers fans trust the coaches and their process so no one will yell bloody murder if they dont play him his rookie year while they build a oline
Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh (age 23/6’3”/220 lbs.)- Mechanics, mechanics, mechanics! Some plays he doesn’t set his feet and drive through at all which is concerning. Not setting his feet at all causes wobbly passes which will result in several interceptions in the NFL. Most of the time though he does set his feet; however, he doesn’t really drive all the way through with his backfoot. This causes him to not get as much arm extension out of his throws as he could have. This causes the ball to take longer to get his receivers. It creates more hangtime (the ball stays in the air too long). This will likely be a problem at the next level because NFL players are bigger, bulkier, are faster going from sideline to sideline, meaning that his throwing windows will close quicker. There was also one play on film (at 4:06) where his receiver/tight end was wide open in the end zone. He threw it to him. However, he threw it unnecessarily too high. When someone is wide open like that, just put it on them. He didn’t need to throw the pass that high. You don’t want to do that in the NFL especially, since forcing your receiver to go up for the ball will subject him to unnecessary hits and possibly injuries. The good news is that everything that I just mentioned is fixable by spending some time with a good Quarterbacks coach and just focusing on proper foot placement and proper throwing technique. He could also spend some time with a good personal trainer focusing on exercises that’ll improve his arm extension such as box jumps since most of a Quarterback's arm strength comes from the legs. I will say that there were a couple of plays on film where he did show the proper technique (such as at 1:01) and the throws were spot-on as a result! What I did like on other plays too is that when he had to scramble out of pocket to avoid the rush, he kept his eyes downfield. He was looking to pass first as opposed to run. This is important since at the next level, a Quarterbacks’ arm is ALWAYS going to be better than their feet. That’s a good sign! Don't get me wrong: I think he will be a great Quarterback at the next level. However, there are some areas where he needs to improve.
Now I can see why Kenny was successful for one year in college. He had a receiver who was open by 5 yards every play. These highlights also confirm that he was a 1 read only QB in college as well. Worst pick in franchise history and will set them back for years.
I think his pocket presence and accuracy are the best of any qb in the upcoming draft. Malik Wills is the most physically gifted though. Willis is just inconsistent and turnover prone.
@@joshclark2208 dude changed the original comment but i dont wanna hear about competition when Josh Allen and Paxton Lynch were 1st round QBs and nobody mentioned their competition.
Kenny pickett is a gunslinger QB and reminds me so much of Carson Wentz, a QB who can run and extend plays but may try to be the try hard and too focused on that one play,if I had to rank him he's my QB2 barely behind Corral as he feels like more a safe bet then pickett but with a team that can use him well like the Steelers, Washington, Texans or even the Lions since there style would mesh perfect with pickett
@@josephnesmith7950 that would definitely make sense for them. I’m mainly going off of analysts mock drafts. As a Broncos fan I’m hoping to pick up Rodgers anyway lol we don’t have much luck with drafting QBs
As a Steelers fan I am to the point where I just wanna get into the offseason already. Such a good foundation to work with... Najee Harris, Diontae Johnson, Claypool, and then a tight end who is looking like he may become one of the best in the game within the next two years with Pat Friermuth. Just need to get a few O-lineman, and a QB and this offense can be amazing. Defense needs some help too, but they will have Alualu, and Tuitt back next year which will be HUGE. So Steelers fans I just wanna say take a deep breath, and remember the future should be very bright for us although it might be hard to see that right now.
@@JustBombsProductions yeah, but man they look so bad at times I just think they simply just aren’t good enough and never will be. Especially Green. I know if I was the GM there is no way I’d lean on them to improve because if we get a good QB which I whole heartedly believe we will one way or another then we absolutely need to fix this offensive line. Ben thinking he still had something left has set this franchise back literally at least 2 years. I love the guy, but he shouldn’t be out there right now, he don’t have an o-line that can protect him, and zero running game. When you’re 39 years old and your body has been through the ringer you absolutely NEED a good line, and a run game to protect you, and to give you a chance. Terrible planning by this front office to allow us to be in this situation.
I don’t watch college football, so I’m curious about two things. Is this 2022 QB class gonna be good, and where do you think Pickett will be selected? Top 5?
I think the 2022 QB class will turn out to be better than expected. People keep saying it's a really weak class. Pickett's draft stock has skyrocketed to the point where he could be drafted in the top 5.
I want him in a giant jersey Next year !!! he already does all the little things just from seeing that that Jones dont do , like look off his targets, fake slide good pocket awareness sign me up now, take him and stud tackle as our top 2 picks and go from there
@Stone Colds that is a lot more accurate. The Rodgers comparison was more that intangible of making something out of nothing. That ability to just fight for the win. But being a gamer at college level compared to NFL is 2 very different things.
LMAO I just searched and saw your Mich Trubisky video as well... My first reaction when I saw this guys highlights was "Isn't he just Trubisky again?" Hopefully that just means better chance of one of them being good, and they would both work in the offense that Tomlin has in mind. I'm excited for this next season, I feel like for once Pittsburgh are the actual underdogs, which is crazy.
@@keiongibson3314 hurts cant read Defenses has a weak arm, cant hit receivers in stride is late with his throws. Good runner though. But that's not going to win you anything. They started winning when they took the ball away from his hands and started running. Look a the games. The playoff game he was putrid, threw two picks could have easily been four. no TD's. Doesn't have a Mahomes/Allen howitzer, but can move, and very accurate. A perfect QB who will let his playmakers make plays. Just what the Steelers need.
Like a Baker Mayfield bro Also does anybody notice that he plays the game like a swimmer and a cyclist. This is obvious by the way he runs and evades pressure. His turns are so sharp. This guy is perfect for a bad o-line
I know I'll probably get raked over the coals for this, but he reminds me of early Roethlisberger in terms of pocket awareness, and always keeping his eyes downfield. I think he'll be fine.

Willis played horrible comp
This is who Pittsburgh needs to replace Ben. Some who can pass from the pocket but still escape the pocket and make plays. Pickett would work perfect for the Steelers offense.
Big ben will be missed. He was a great. Then sadly that motorcycle accident ended it. He was a big beast and so accurate. Not only that the offensive line stopped showing up. Steelers will not be the same without him.

Born June 6, 1998. Played high school football for the Ocean Township Spartans (NJ). Played college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers. Drafted #20 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hey at least he doesn't have to move for his next job.
This felt more like a highlight reel for Jordan Addison at times over Kenny Pickett
Addison (or any receiver for that matter) is only as good as the quarterback throwing them the ball.
"Pickett to throw!Touchdown Pittsburgh!" Will be hearing that for years to come. Facts💯
Just what we need, Kenny Pickett has the "whole package" I like him as a replacement for Big Ben.
I love coming back here when people say that Kenny can't throw bombs. It's like vindication.
I'm excited to see what he can do for sure!
I really hope Kenny goes to Washington he will be the perfect fit for them

Couldn’t tell if this was a highlight for Pickett or Addison
I think his pocket presence and accuracy are the best of any qb in the upcoming draft. Malik Wills is the most physically gifted though. Willis is just inconsistent and turnover prone.

The OL has two rookies starting too. Hopefully, Green & Moore improve with all the snaps they've gotten this season.

@Stone Colds that is a lot more accurate. The Rodgers comparison was more that intangible of making something out of nothing. That ability to just fight for the win. But being a gamer at college level compared to NFL is 2 very different things.
