    "You can buy a similar specced bike for half the price, but thats just how it is"
    Just how it is??? That should be a MAJOR point in your analysis, not just worth a "meh" moment in your review, dont forget you are reviewing this bikes for the average consumer, who values the price-to-quality ratio. Dont let these big companies rip us off.

      Lifetime Warranty Frame and Lifetime Warranty Wheels. This has a big value to some.

      And that's for the fully loaded bike, you can get one with aluminum frame and lower specs for $3499 USD

      This was a first ride - just an introduction and some riding impressions. If we were reviewing this bike here, the price would definitely impact on the rating. The thing is, it's common knowledge that you can get a bike with a similar spec direct from the brand for a lot less money. But people still want to own a Santa Cruz. That's their decision. Perhaps one day Santa Cruz will move to a direct sales model like Intense has done in the UK and prices will instantly drop £1k, but then people will probably moan that the independent dealer is being killed off. At the moment, consumers are the winners, because you have the choice to buy online or face to face with a salesperson in a shop. Surely that's a good thing?

    I ride a Bronson c 2019 and lemme tell you it’s a dream to ride. I am blessed a good job and that’s how I able to get this bike.. but no other bike I’ve owned. Planted, quick, pedals very good.. big drop eating.. looks amazing.. i changed the rockshocks super deluxe to a Caine Creek double barrel coil.. it was expensive but no body has ever said a bad word about it

    Journalists of the bike industy must be the planets easierst people to impress.
    It's the same stuff every year:
    -"The [hyped bike atm] is by far the best bike I've ever seen! The [whatever barely noticeable feature] make you think you are in a bike with far more suspension. The geometry change makes the bike such a better climbing machine [on paper]...."
    Would be nice to see a 5-year retrospective of all the "best bikes you've ever ridden and all the reused arguments" 😂
    The Bronson looks great tho 😋

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We understand where you're coming from, but equally incremental changes/improvements do make a difference. Ride a first generation Bronson back-to-back with the latest one and we defy you not to notice a (positive) difference.

    • @DerRoAusKO
      @DerRoAusKO 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mountain Bike Rider don't get me wrong. I enjoy watching reviews of new bikes and I'd agree that there's a difference between the first and the 2019 Bronson (mainly due to it's slacker/ longer geometry).
      I just think that the cycling industry is pushing new trends faster than journalists can think up proper arguments to follow them. 😜

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha, that may be so! It's pretty relentless, but we think that's also really exciting. It would be so dull if the only thing to change every year was a paint job.

  • @ThunderStruckMTB
    @ThunderStruckMTB 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Man, I just can't imagine that this bike would be twice as fun as a bike that's half its price. I suppose you could say that about most anything though, and if your bank account says you can afford it, I guess that's all that matters...... Even if I could afford it, I would still buy 2 awesome bikes for less than this thing - but I've always been an SLX type guy myself.

  • @MrHypermoto
    @MrHypermoto 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    As an SC dealer, the price disclaimer is silly. They make an alloy frame with kits starting in the low 3k range (USD). Carbon bikes start around 4k. They have several build kits that give you great performance at a great price. S build, carbon frame for 5k is the sweet spot IMO, DT 370 hubs, full GX Eagle, Fox 36 Perf fork, nice kit for the cash. Go talk to a dealer or check out the SC website, this bike is WAY more attainable then he's making it out to be.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but of course brands never give us the 'affordable' model to ride at a launch. It's always the top end model so it's impossible to say if there's a sweet spot lower down the range.

  • @Kalashnikov_Respecter
    @Kalashnikov_Respecter 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    lol the only comparable bike to this is the pivot switchblade C X01 Eagle build if we're gonna be honest, idk what we're getting into with half price talk on comparable bikes it's simply not the case, unless you mean taking carbon "downgrades" or riding aluminum.. that's just the price of the "good" carbon currently. We see this demonstrated on Pivot, Santa Cruz, and even Giant now so this 5,500-7,500 dollar thing seems pretty normal for super bikes. I'm not a fan of the price either but I'm still definitely buying one in the Carbon S build (not CC) and saving a ton while still getting the same suspension and what, like 4 less teeth in my interchangable cassette? yeah I think I'll live.

    Most SC dealers in California don't sell them at full MSRP. It's no different than buying a car, of course there's a price tag hanging on it with full MSRP listed but only a fool would pay the sticker price and just like cars when the new models hit the floor last years instantly get marked down. When I bought my Bronson Carbon C S, retail on it was 5 grand US end of the season and the new models had just arrived haggled and paid $2800.00 brand new with a lifetime frame warranty. I'll wait until the 20's are out in about a year and pick up a 2019 well below retail. It also helps living in California near Santa Cruz where there a lot of dealers.

    • @TheAllEngineering
      @TheAllEngineering 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lifetime warrantee is nothing special in fact I know two people that have had issues with warrantee and had to pay for repairs themselves, one was a cassette / derailleur issue and the other was with those shit novatec hubs they were fitting on them. It is a joke that they even used novatec on these bikes they are so bad.

    • @georgepapa9981
      @georgepapa9981 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAllEngineering the lifetime warranty is for the frame and for the carbon rims for a SC bike. The components are not covered by LT warranty.

    • @TheAllEngineering
      @TheAllEngineering 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgepapa9981 Those crappy novatech hubs and drive train issues occurred when the bike was less than 6 months old and had not done that many miles. The bike was purchased fully built up so not very good that the owner had to pay to get fixed up especially when those hubs are known to be rubbish. So not really acceptable.

    • @mikef2270
      @mikef2270 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheAllEngineering The frame and the bearings on all the pivots are life time warranty. There's no manufactures that will warranty a third party's component for life. Especially something that is considered a wear part like a cassette. I think the use of Novatec hubs on entry models was short lived and the result of SC being bought back in 2015 by Pon Holdings SC has gone back to Sram MTH hubs on the entry models. Lifetime frame warranty on the frame isn't as unique as it once was, now days Specialized, Trek, Giant and Yeti and even Transition all offer lifetime on their frames but most direct sales like Canyon, YT and others still have limited warranties for 1 to 7 years depending with plenty of stories on various forums of them not wanting to honor their warranty even within the expressed time frame. I know people that have sent SC frames back after 10 years and got free replacements of what the current model equivalent would be in one case they replaced a 2009 Al frame Nomad 2 with a 2018 Bronson 2 CC Frame. Sad truth is all manufactures of consumer products these days not just bikes look for any reason not to warranty something, car forums are full of warranty horror stories.

    • @TheAllEngineering
      @TheAllEngineering 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikef2270 Still pretty poor when free hub fails in less than 6 months, and the drive train had chain jumping off all the time and damaging the frame right from new and not covered in warrantee. Once components changed all problems resolved. Pretty poor really.
