  • Dr. Chinwé Williams is a licensed and board-certified therapist, speaker, author, and consultant, so you know what that means - today’s episode might feel like a free counseling session, and Y’ALL, it’s so good. I think she’s so brilliant. We talk about helping kids process through trauma and emotions, because Lord knows they come jam-packed with BIG feelings. We talk about re-parenting ourselves so that we can be better parents for our kids. And Chinwé talks about why she doesn’t think anxiety isn’t necessarily 100% bad - God created us to have an alarm system that prepares us for threat. Sit under Chinwé’s wisdom and guidance, and then share this episode with a friend.

Take a moment to ask your child what they are feeling right now vs rushing through that moment. So needed!!!!! love that you mentioned that, Toni!

Thank you for bringing there parenting topics and issues to the surface once again. It helps to process residual affect of past trauma I believe. I am a follower of Christ too and that foundation literally saved me and my children. They are now young adults and emotionally healthy living fruitful lives and thriving financially. You are right, children watch us. I’d say they get their cues on how to react and behave from us. Finally one thing I’ll share about that is I never tried to appease them but I was loving. I find that if we try to give them all the things out of guilt unknowingly, now they expect the outside world to do the same. When it doesn’t they are sad, angry, disappointed, and traumatized. Worst, they are without hope. This I think leads to thoughts of escaping or even exiting life. ( I’m a mom and behavioral scientist by training.)
