  • We caught up with GB Climber and Psychi Athlete Max Milne (and 2022 CWIF Champion!) for a training session on The Climbing Works competition wall in Sheffield. Max set out to flash 8 competition problems over the session, focussing on reading the problems and unlocking the intended beta. From balancy slabs to powerful overhanging boulders and showy dynamic moves, Max was put to the test on a variety of blocs.
It was a pleasure to follow along on Max’s session and we hope you enjoy watching him crush.

Another gem of this channel. Always interesting to watch how he visualizes the beta in his mind's eye ;)

I think Max is right, you don't need to be in control, a tap is fine. Tapping from the volume to the specified hold that's screwed into the volume gives you the start, as it's just a tap. Seems fine to me, but what do i know?

i think the tapping is not the issue. I think the tricky part is that you only allowed to use the marked starting holds to get into the starting position. The question is if the grey voulume is not a marked starting hold but the red one is are you allowed to touch the grey volume simultaneously as the red one while you establish the starting position or is that counted as using a hold which is not a starting hold to establish the starting position?

@@sokha291 Did not realise the grey part was a volume thought it was the wall . In that case i dont think he is allowed to touch the volume because only the red volume was tagged
