For fracking sakes, everyone in engineering knows of the story (myth? legand?) of Archimedes and his supposed mirrored device used to focus the rays of the sun on a surface. Yet these geniuses .. nope what's that duhhhh.
I actually like the all-natural design of the thing, It's practical and actually quite easy on my eyes at least, I've never been one to like sharp edges.

I've been trying to explain the "uncanny valley" meaning to so many people since it doesn't make any sense. your definition was correct: "the more lifelike it looks, the more creepy the effect" I'm still not sure why making robots lifelike is "creepy" by today's standards, cause i think the goal of humanoid robots is to make them look identical to humans, isn't it?
