When my parents both had passed away in their 90s we had a combined memorial service and this was one song my mother had requested be played. Has special meaning to me and I'm sure it would have to my father as well. They were both cremated so we were able to wait until both had passed and have a memorial service for the 2 of them. I love this song.
No, I never cried on this one. Truth to tell, when it came out, it just made me mad. "Too much, too little, too late, and sorry doesn't help, mister!" Lol!
YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT WILLIE'S SON, LUCAS NELSON AT WILLIE'S 90TH BIRTHDAY SINGING WILLIE'S SONG "ANGEL FLYING TO CLOSE TO THE GROUND" HE SOUNDS JUST LIKE HIS FATHER!!!!!!
Yes, that was an accordion you heard. Willie has a lot of Spanish / Mexican / South Texan vibes in his music and incorporates a lot of classical Spanish guitar elements in his playing too.
There’s an album called Willie Nelson and family that has a version of the redheaded stranger. That’s probably 20 minutes long. It’s an excellent listen.
If you like this one you should here "Choices" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones or "Hurt" by Johnny Cash And you should hear Willie's version of "Georgia on My Mind"
He wrote this, and it was covered by dozens of other major artists over the past few decades including Elvis, who knocked it out of the park.
Sorry, I didn’t see your post about Elvis

I think his singing at this point in his life was the best
My Late Grandpa Loved Willie Nelson and this song. Man, I'm over here bawling. Brings back so many memories. Thank You Willie! ❤
It is my experience that men love deeply and quietly. This is that love song.
Willie will be 91 at the end of this month, has a new album coming out soon and is touring with Bob Dylan this summer.

You should think about how it is to be old. Not imagine being that old! You all be and you won't know how fast it happened
