Thanks for putting this music together. It really made me miss my grandma. My grandma was basically a second mom, always looking after me since day one, taking care of me, always loving unconditionally, and making sure I grew up to be the best person I could be. When she passed 2 years ago, It broke my heart to know that she won't ever see me in person getting married, live successfully and perhaps see me to be the person that she wants me to be.. But I know in spirit she will always be there. But it it's not going to be the same.
My pog is my world. I don’t ever want to lose her. I’m sorry for your loss, Josh. No one’s love and presence can ever compare to Grandma’s love and presence.
Most underrated Hmong artist. You have so much soul brother. Only someone who has been through rough waters can hear the hurt you’ve been through. Stay passionate and continue to capture our hearts with your music.❤
Its fascinating how ppl resonate with this song differently. The song takes me to a time I'm reminded about how my pog was the one who introduced me to OG food. I used to hate it growing up but now its all I crave. Im reminded of her every time I have pickled mustard greens or fermented sticky rice. My friend tells me this song reminds him how although his grandma never accepted him coming out, she always loved him. Especially "Muaj ntau hnub kuv tais xav nco yim muaj ntau yam kuv ua tsis yog kuv ntshai tsam kuv tsis zoo li tus tub zoo koj paub thov koj zam txim puas tau". Very powerful song
Josh, thank you so much for this song. I’m an orphan myself. Grew up with no parents to love. It sucks because at that time my grandparents wasn’t even in this world for me to feel there love… to those who has they’re grandparents, love them dearly because some of us would definitly loved it to be honest…. 😢
I already cried reading your description. That's a lot to carry with you and I hope you found healing in the grieving. My grandma is also my world so I can't imagine losing her. Great song as always.
I’m sorry for your loss. Heartbreakingly beautiful song and vocals. Literally brought me to tears and thinking about my own Niam tais I lost 4 years ago.
My kids will never have a grandpa from me but at least they will have my mom, A grandma who will love all of her grandbabies with everything that she has. I hope they look up and love my mother the way I couldn't until I hit adulthood. They might take me for granted the way I took my mom but as long as they love and treat my mother with love and respect I'd wake up everyday happy. Because even though I never gave my mom the world I hope my kids can still give her a perfect world to live in... She deserves all good things.
I’m so sorry for your loss and I know how it feels to lose your grandma. She loves you so much. I absolutely fell in love with this song. I thank you and your wife for being a part of my life and hope to see you guys soon!
My niam tais was everything, I was tearing up at her funeral during the slide show and crying all night getting her blessing. Now I have my grandpa left and I'm going to make sure he lives happily before he goes. Love this song
The lyrics are so meaningful, my mother succumbed to cancer in February of this year. I miss her so so much. Thank you for putting out this song. Keep up the good work!
Great song this makes me think of my mom. My grandma passed away when I was still little and I've always wanted that bond with my grandparents. I want my kids to be around my parents so they can have a bond and know their grandparents. Keep up the songs
The first song that made me cry was "Yuav Ncaim Mus" by The Sounders. This song is the second. This song really hit the spot. I never thought I would shed tears again listening to a song and missing/thinking of my grandma. Thanks for bringing back the memories I had with her for a few minutes. Keep up the good music brother. #RIP to all the beautiful grandmas out there!
Thanks for sharing. I understand the pain of losing a love one that is dearly close to oneself. I loss both my parents within a nine months from each other, my father 2021 and my mother 2022. Best wishes on your life journey and just know that I will be listening to your songs.
Such a heart wrenching song. Thank you for sharing your and your Grandma's story. I'm positive she loved you very much and is in a better place now, may she rest in peace. Much love and light to you. Hoping you find the closure and peace you seek.
I didn’t get the chance to grow up with my pog. She passed before making it over to America. My dad never talks about his parents as it seems to always bring him pain. I was lucky enough to grow up with my niam tais/maternal grandmother. When I see others able to grow up having their pog, I get jealous because I never got that same opportunity. Love the people closest to you while they’re still here! ❤
Hi Josh. I literally feel ur soul seeping through this song. I resonate with you in this song that you wrote so beautifully for your Grandma especially losing my mom last year as I read your description too. I'm also sorry that I never knew you went through this back then when we all would get together occasionally. Sending you so much love & healing still. ❤️ literally can't wait to hear more music from you because i always enjoyed ur talented voice.
@ubzoo thank you ! I appreciate this reply , unfortunately i can't tell who you are because of your TH-cam name , do mind letting me know who this so i can thank you properly
You’re quite the songwriter. In lyrics and in melody. I started writing a song for my grandma many yrs ago with similar lyrics and couldn’t give into the process. This is priceless. I just lost my little brother and it’s even harder but perhaps some day I’ll give in. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thank you. Sorry for your loss. It's such a coincidence that you say that because i was just writing about my brother. I hope you find the words to connect to your song/story!

Good try but you need to work on your Hmong pronunciation and grammar. For example, in Hmong we never say los nag tsis tas. It’s los nag tsis tu. Pronunciation, need work on qhov the qh consonant and hnyav (you said nyav which is an animal). The song is only as good as you can communicate your message effectively and correctly. It’s so different from a Hmoob Nplog/Hmoob Thaib singing in English.
Just because nowadays this younger Hmong generation is not fluent in Hmong clearly does not make it okay and acceptable There are many grammar rules in language that cannot be changed. For example, you would never say red car in Hmong as liab tsheb, nor would you say two dogs as ob aub/ob daim aub. In this song, nyav will never be pronounced as hnyav; it’s two completely different consonants/phonemes. @foreveraalways I understood everything you said and I have no problems with it. Because you were taught proper grammar doesn't mean everybody was. Hmong kids can't even speak English these days, so I'm happy with anybody that is trying. Hmong language in America will probably phase out this generation, so don't worry too much about it
You are actually incorrect. I grew up with every opportunity to disassociate myself with the Hmong language and it’s evident in my family who doesn’t have to better their Hmong. It’s a choice I make every day to better my Hmong and study the language, spending hundreds of hours watching old Hmong movies/songs, having linguistic conversations. Learning Hmong is no different from learning any second language. People become fluent because they want to and are willing to invest time, whether it be self study or with a buddy ( Hmong Mormons for example). I can testify to this because I’ve been able to pick up and perfect my accent in two additional languages.
Nicki Thao and Macy Hawj are two younger ones with very decent Hmong. And I’m I’m sure they have a fluent speaker look over their lyrics which is what these other singers can do.
