Yes I just watched this and I totally thought that she fell for him. Her bf and her broke up the story was cancelled and she went fuck it. I think if she would not have gotten the convo translated she would have gone for sure. I was torn bc I was like holy shit this guy is pretty damn alluring I can see the appeal. I was so frustrated at multiple scenes of Amy’s bc she was doing dumb things! Nice review :)
How is a sexist man who expects women to serve him, wants to marry 14 year olds and who "kills people" for a living in any way alluring??? Saw this last night, and other than the actor being good looking, that character is in no way attractive.
Saw this last night, and I'm torn over it. I think Amy was an extremely frustrating character, and a number of her decisions really annoyed me. Though I feel that was sort of the point. At the same time, the editing was very good, and there was some really tense moments. I tend to gravitate towards these found-footage style movies since they are meant to feel more realistic, so I did appreciate this at least just for the style alone. But it's both exciting and frustrating at the same time lol. Great review!! 🙂
I thought the same thing when Bilel mentioned Melody was "rotten meat" that he was referring to the fact that she was older and that she wasn't a virgin. He knew from the first call that she wasn't 20 and it's interesting how later he coaxed her to admit she was older. I think he purposely got her eye color wrong, only for her to correct him and confirm to him that her eyes were brown. He didn't straight out ask her. To me it was no mistake that Bilel was selected as a recruiter since he is a very handsome and charming man, resulting in him being able to recruit a lot of women. Interesting film since at first you think Melody reeled him in and she even tells her boss she is reeling him in when in fact Bilel was in control the entire time. Even when he continuously calls her "baby" I think it's more so that he doesn't confuse the names of all the girls he's trying to seduce and sell. I think the end shows a peek of his true colors as when he didn't get what he wanted, Melody coming to Syria, he became very aggressive towards her..
Did she really fall in love with that Bilel guy? I mean she almost booked the ticket to Turkey, up untill she translated the last call. And also another reason was she started to distant herself from her bf as her conversation went on with Bilel
@@massagetoheal6715 yeah I think she genuinely fell for it & him like the way she cried when she thought he died and all the other little things we catch her doing like taking initiative to message bilal & telling him she misses him or her getting annoyed with her actual bf. Also when vick was getting concerned that it was going too far, amy kept pushing for her to continue and we know it’s not cause she wants info for her story
"Rotten meat" is referring to her sexual status. It means she is unclean or "spoiled", AKA she IS NOT a virgin. In the sex trafficking world, virgins are NOT kept as common prostitutes. They are of VERY high value. And if they are younger, like teenagers, or even a child, they are worth MUCH more. Especially if they have very light/white skin with blonde hair, or blue or green eyes. Those girls are sold to wealthy patrons who keep them as forced wives, or sex slaves. Sometimes even cult weirdos who believe in using virgin blood in certain rituals. In that case, they actually examine the girl/woman to look for a hymen. So he is basically telling his buddy that she is not a virgin, and she is older with brown eyes, so they won't get much money for her.
Not only can I not get over the fact she was dead gonna go but sis was so caught up in her delulu she forgot she in fact WASN'T a virgin lol So rather he met her or his 'buddy' did she was fucked either way. And that call when he 'died' and she started crying at the deli was so cringe I got 2nd hand embarrassment. Talking about I can't exploit him like girl journalism is notfa you. I knew her sitting next to that window was gonna bite her Inna ass later 🤦🏾♀️

Excellent review. 👍❤. This whole unprepared, oops I fell in love with Balal stuff, the IT close calls sounds very realistic. I read a story a few years back about a woman (teenager really), not a reporter, but just lonely in a very, *very* small farming town. She connects with some guy, clearly a user ... and the next thing you know, she's making plans with the guy. Ready to join ISIS, etc. She's trying to buy plane tickets ... etc. Yikes! Because I was born prior to the internet being a thing ... people doing this kind of thing on the net, taking big chances ... I think: "No! Who could be that stupid?" And I realize ... practically everybody! Thanks for your great reviews ... and of course ... the hilarious remarks. 😆😆😆
I liked how it made me question of she is going to really do it or not? (As in go to Syria) Also learned it's based on a true story told in the book Skin of a Jihadist, and everything matches except the ending
I thought that too...that perhaps he staged the whole thing to see her reaction. Or that the scene really did occur but he happened to survive and then used it to manipulate or gauge what her true feelings for him were.
it was definitely a way to manipulate her emotions, cause immediately after that amy realised she has some sort of feelings for him as he was nearly faced by death and the thought of losing him had left a hole in her heart considering the relationship they built over skype calls. and that's why she was naive enough to marry him in a rush. sometimes, you really need to listen to your head more than your heart.
Still both handsome as ever! Watching every video like, 'do you think you're ready for fish jelly?!' ALWAYS! Keep being fantastic everyday♥️💋 I watch everything you review if i can get my lil mitts on it. Love You Both😘
Everyone jokes about this scene (rightfully so!), yet it actually traumatized the fuck out of me when I originally saw it bc I was so young at the time. It actually terrified me of wire hangers, like honestly, I’m not even joking. To this day, you can’t find a wire hanger in my house bc I simply do NOT allow it. If my husband forgets and doesn’t immediately take the dry cleaning off the wire hangers, transfer them to our regular hangers BEFORE putting the dry cleaning away AND then THROW OUT the cursed wire hangers as my rules require, I actually freak out. It instantly triggers panic in me and brings all the chaos and emotions I experienced as a wee child when I saw that movie and that particular scene right back up to the surface. My husband and I joke about it all the time and how you don’t ever want to see me have one of those freak outs or be the one that caused it, but that movie really fucked up my little kid mind and it seriously stuck w me all these damn years!! Lol.
Great review! I hadn’t heard about this film but am definitely checking it out. Thanks for brining it to my attention. As always thanks for posting. Much love
I just saw this yday, well worth a watch! She definitely caught feelings for him haha the actor who played bilal is kind of cute too haha. the girls who ISIS usually groom are often much younger, isolated from their families/communities, and yearn for a sense of belonging in the west. Amys character had never experienced such things, so her falling for him just seemed so silly and unrealistic, i genuinely felt frustrated watching her make such poor choices. Overall though, nice movie lol.
😆Now this just, uhm had deja vu vibes...had Liam Neeson been in the cast ?! Kind of pitiful, but the 'victim' was a learned character - nimble enough to stay alive *after* the fact. Appreciate comments on the stuff that makes this story riveting.
while I was watching this movie I was curious as to how the posts she posted on her real facebook about Bilel got there. She seemed genuintely shocked when her boyfriend brought them up..
I think you should know this about the movie "Profile" by from Focus Features: The poor quality footage of "Taylor Conger" being stoned to death is actually real. It's a real human being being murdered. The victim in the video is Du'a Khalil Aswad, a 17-year-old Iraqi girl, who was brutally stoned to death in 2007 by the people in her village. What you see, is what the killers filmed with their cell phones. It is not actors performing. It is reality. Director Timur Bekmambetov has used the footage to show the death of a fictional character in his film; Taylor Conger (played by Eloise Thomas). I find it really sickening. A total lack of respect. Du'a Khalil Aswad didn't ask for this, I'm sure. She didn't give permission. Would it have been too much work to shoot the scene with actors? Would it have been too expensive? Was it really necessary to exploit this girl by using her as an involuntary "actress", while she was slowly but brutally being murdered? Furthermore, the stoning of Du'a Khalil Aswad had nothing to do with ISIS, Syria or any geopolitical conflict related to anything in the movie. So how can this be justified? I feel like I have been exposed to snuff.
Blows my mind how people can fall for a person and trust them knowing their background ( let alone online ) yikess! RIP to all those women who went through all these in real life and are long gone. Pretty sure they regretted their decision.
Same but tbh he was very good at luring. I guess that’s the whole point, but he was so good with his words and knows how to actually woo a girl. Even i was convinced, but then we should’ve known better, idk what else i could’ve expected when she translated his words
It was not bad all. I enjoy it. But I need some explanation, how did he find truth out about her ?? At end. Did she died. Did she ever she was found ?? Could be better ending

Anyone know if the almost death scene was faked by him to check her reaction to see if he can trust her?
