    I love the way that they don't scream "Look at me!" on the outside, unlike sports motoryachts, but have stunning interiors that are better in many ways than the majority of sports motoryachts and can travel much longer distances before refuelling.

    Gorgeous...the interior woodwork is absolutely stunning. I'm speechless. You can keep all of your modern superyachts with their Spartan, minimalist interiors...this ship is pure luxury.

    The engine room and pilothouse are both a work of art. Furniture is furniture. But the lines of a boat and what is in a boats pilothouse and engine room, really make what a boat is all about.

    By far my favorite Nordhavn yacht for size, equipment and amenities and quality. One can do ocean crossing (as a fleet leader, even!) Old guys can treat the captain and staff right...and still have room for family to stay 'just long enough.' A couple can live aboard with a long-term staff, cruising and docking at will.

  • @timwilde4200

    Not sure if I'm a fan of the open kitchen, not least if the guests want to relax after a long day and not have to deal with the kitchen staff working away, clattering and chatting - either that or the expectation is thrust on the staff to remain quiet. I think I spotted some sliding doors over the counter that would help. The other consideration is that perhaps the owner likes to do the cooking for the guests, along the lines of an owner-operator.

    This looks like a beautiful ship but I admit I would have preferred a "walkthrough" video. A walkthrough video doesn't just show you the spaces and cabins etc., it shows how they all fit together to make the whole vessel. For example, I know there are some beautiful cabins but I don't know how many or on what decks.

    They look beautiful. How does a fiberglass Hull compare to steel Hull. I'm assuming they both have pros and cons, and" is it a case of, does the Hull meet the needs of the client. If it meets the needs? Then build the yacht in fiberglass. Is there a financial aspect? Is fiberglass cheaper? I find it interesting, the different design aspects and challenges. Although they are unbelievably expensive. A potential customer may not have unlimited finances.

  • @kfeltenberger
    @kfeltenberger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One thing I have to say about Nordhavn...the interiors *look* comfortable, warm, and inviting. I'm tired of this trend to stark white, chrome, bare and lifeless wood, and something that doesn't look comfortable at all, let alone warm and inviting. If I'm going to be spending weeks or even months aboard, I want comfortable. You can keep the "haute couture" trendy styles that will be out of date in a few years and I'll stick with traditional.
    I had to laugh and the little signs on the furniture, "Please do not sit"...that's the very message most other "modern" interiors scream when I see them...sign or no sign.

    One thing I wonder about these great yachts from NH, is that none of them has as windbreak/entrance wordrobe to hang your wet clothes and wet boots, when entering straight into the greatest living room. Say you have been fishing big fish in the rain and prepared them for dinner, or just walked through a rain soaked town somewhere, what do you do with your dirty wet clothes and boots?? Something is missing at that entrance, and there is room for it! ;)

    For their bigger boats I would really like to see Nordhavn go to a steel hull. They have the reputation to attract some of the best designers & organizational ability/resources to do a steel hull on a production level.
    Once you get over 80' I think lots of people would prefer steel. No doubt, Nordhavn builds a quality 86 foot & 92 foot boat in GRP but that's the size where steel starts to become the ideal. Even if you can build an equally strong 86+ foot boat in GRP, the general perception is steel works better in that size range.
    If I was in the market for something in the 65-75' range, I wouldn't seriously consider anything but a Nordhavn because of their quality & reputation. If I was in the market for a 90 - 100' boat, I would look at steel hulled boats first.
    I think if Nordhavn made the jump to steel for their larger boats, they would dominate that market in short order.

      James Pitts You better enjoy having almost nothing to do for 2 or 3 weeks as that is how long the trip takes between New York and European ports. Most people with boats this large do not do the crossings they fly from Port to port and then enjoy cruising the area once the boat is already there. And if you do very long cruising time you better really enjoy your company as they get old after a few weeks with nothing to do.

    • @brettrun8575
      @brettrun8575 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      gerard haubert Why don't people realize yet that modern FG hulls are many times stronger than steel, lighter and require far less maintenance??

    • @peterparker219
      @peterparker219 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      brett run I doubt this. An FG hull is far more damageable in collision with swimming objects. Imagine lost containers, timber logs or just a sea turtle. Where steel only deforms will your FG hull have a crack or hole. And while a steel hull can easily be repaired by welding at any place on the globe, your punctured FG hull has lost stability in it's entirety. And btw the weight of a steel hull gives you a smoother ride. So what ?

    • @brettrun8575
      @brettrun8575 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nina Nina tam kartina In certain scenarios steel does have better impact resistance. Not all. By the way, a boat made from modern FRP can have the entire hull made from one piece. Add the deck and superstructure and you have a three piece boat. A steel boat consists on thousands of individual pieces that must be welded or riveted together. Not ideal structurally. Modern FRP is far more resistant to corrosion from the sea. If a boat made from FRP is lighter that’s a good thing. It allows the designer to strategically place ballast in the lowest and most ideal location of the boat for stability. Pros and cons to both, but when looked at in its entirety a modern FRP boat is superior.

    • @peterparker219
      @peterparker219 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      brett run As you said there are pros and cons to both materials and i don't want even mention osmotic blistering or ecological concerns. A steel hull does not need more attention on corrosion than the plastic one. Once a year a renewal of antifoul and a close look at the zinc anodes and replacement when necessary. That's what you do either. And i know steelboats of an age of 60 and 70 years still swimming. So i'm sure we're both happy with our respective preference. Fair winds and following seas
