I live in a rental, but over the years, I realize this is the way I keep my home, especially as I grow older. It's heavily influenced by my mother - we always mosey through antique stores and garage sales. We were a military family, and no matter where we lived, my mother made sure our temporary home was warm and welcoming. She still decorates with dark woods and whites, creams, blues, and soft yellow. The furniture was second-hand, antique, and timeless. She kept the gardens neat and always planted a row of white impatiens, even if we only lived somewhere for a year.
In this crazy day and time people crave warmth and cozy , comfort and beauty ❤️ Just my humble opinion/observation ☺️ Her style includes it all , no trends just timeless, classic taste ✨
“It’s Complicated” is hands down my favorite Nancy Meyers’ movie for storyline and decor. Meryl Streep”s house and garden are just dreamy even before the renovation. I could easily see myself living comfortably and cozily there. Great video!

I love the Candice Dias Spanish house in the Holiday, but also adore the Hamptom's home in Something's got to give. (I think that is the one with Jack Nicholson. I didn't like him as the lead though.)
I have 2 antique round top tables I will switch out with a couple side tables with drawers in my living room. That was on my mind for a while, you gave me inspiration.

“Beautiful”, the book by Mark D. Sikes, is the look of Nancy Meyers that’s *not* designed to be a movie set. In fact, Nancy Meyers wrote the foreword to his book. She recounts how she and her daughter met him in Los Angeles. And then, goes on to discuss how much she has come to rely on him for inspiration, plus his skills and talents.
Love the mood board. I would go a little darker on the sofa/chair color just to hide any spots, otherwise I love it. The 'Father of Bride' house is my favorite, I found myself watching to see the house & I'm a prairie/craftsman-arts & crafts/some mid-century gal, but also an Interior Design graduate ;) Yes, I remember the mood boards, we called them color boards & went 'old school' with clipping stuff from actual physical samples & rubber cementing them to a piece of tagboard ;)

I was wondering if you have an idea of what made the Nancy Meyer aesthetic recently explode on u tube? I have seen this style and these movies on a few blogs now. I love it ,because I love her style. But what triggered this movement?
I wasn't aware that the Nancy Meyers style had exploded on TH-cam, lol. Apparently, TH-cam's algorithm hasn't realized I like her enough to suggest similar videos. 😕 Nancy Meyers' home was featured in Arch Digest not too long ago, so that might be the reason why she's top of mind. It is also possible that more of her movies are available for streaming right now, so more people are aware of her.
I feel that the younger generations are missing that traditional feel of their grandparents/parents home over today’s disposable furnishings. All of these examples have a common thread- personalization. Younger people are keeping up with trends over traditional long lasting timeless design. Not one of these homes look outdated. They exude warmth and that feeling of belonging.
@@katieseaman7284 Plenty of older people (50 and up seems to be what most would agree aren't whippersnappers) are like that too. "Keeping up with the Joneses" is nothing new. And you'd be surprised how many whippersnappers DON'T fall into the category you're trying to put then in. Age has nothing to do with it.
Re the lighting - these are, of course, movie sets. The wonderful lighting is created by offscreen IATSE technicians. I love Nancy Meyers houses in her movies, but I'll bet even Nancy Meyers can't replicate that kind of light in her own home.
