officially the City of Bislig is a 3rd class component city in the province of Surigao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 99,290 people. 
It is the most populous among the cities and municipalities in the province of Surigao del Sur.
Barangay Mangagoy, the downtown area often dubbed by its residents as "the little city within the city", is the center of trade and industry of Bislig which has a population of 32,464 as of the 2015 estimate. It is the largest barangay in the city and the entire province of Surigao del Sur in terms of population. Since Barangay Poblacion is often referred by the locals simply as 'Bislig', Mangagoy on the other hand is often mistaken as a separate town though it is only just one out of the 24 barangays that comprises the entire City of Bislig.
In 2000, Bislig was converted into a city per Republic Act 8804. It is the easternmost city in the Philippines in terms of geographical location.

Sa totoo lang sinearch ko kung may makikita ba ako sa youtube na gumawa ng video sa Mangagoy Bislig, kasi diyan kasi sa lugar na yan ako ipinanganak pero hindi ako lumaki diyan, siguro 5years old yata ako non noong umalis kami diyan. Curious lang ako kung anong klaseng lugar yung birth place ko kasi mula noong 5 years old ako at ngayon ay 34 years old na ako hindi ko na napuntahan ang lugar na to, at nakita ko sa video na to na napakaganda pala ng lugar ng kapanganakan ko. Subrang salamat sa nag vlog nito, dahil sa vlog mo nakita ko na ganyan pala ang itsura ng birth place ko, napakaganda. Taga cdo ako piro at the year of 80s diha ko nag laag sa mangagoy kay naa koy amigo taga diha tsada kaayo nga lugar ang mangagoy diha mi ga inom ug tuba sa letenas nakaka miss gyud kaayo mag sound trip dayun mi sa maryjoy wala na siguro na karon kay daku na kaayo ang kausaban.

Howdy, to be precise, sadly, many Filipino natives of various regions, provinces, towns, tribes, villages, or barangays all over the Philippines are for a long time out of their own provinces, for decades or years and they could hardly go back because they settle in other places. And it's not easy to go back to places of origin, physically and financially, etc. Some family members of Filipino natives cannot even attend family reunions because of their distance among other reasons. Bislig, Surigao del Sur province, is also a good city here in the Philippines, ecologically speaking, with good, religious, friendly, and hardworking people almost 90% to 95% of local people are progressively educated also, and increasingly on the way, in terms of progress and development, by and by, with respect to ecological balances, particularly in the coming years of 2030-2040-2050 with new young leadership of visions and ambitions for the better life for the local people.
