Natasha, I love how you showed 4 different levels of techniques! I also like that you used the same colors so that people could compare apples to apples. 4 very different looks! Can't wait to see what you will do with them!
Brilliant ideas Tash, and great that you kept to the same colours for great comparison. You think things through very well! Can't wait to see the cards made with these lovely backgrounds. TFS.
Thank u for using the same colours & stencil for the comparison. It makes it soooo much easier to see the techniques you are showing. If you change the colour or stencil then that is what we would be drawn to rather than the technique. I’m looking forward to seeing the cards you make 😃😀😃
Enjoy your tutorials very much, so thanks for that. I’m also grateful that you are always concerned about keeping your videos short and sweet. So many artists are uploading videos that are in the 2 to 3 1/2 hours length. I don’t have the time to watch any that length and it amazes me that they have the time to continue recording videos that long. I’m just really enjoying getting information from you without investing my day doing it. Thank you.
I'm glad you kept them pretty similar. I was sure if texture paste was worth the time and money. Now I can tell. Thanks as usual for sharing your stash and your creativity and time.
This video is giving me all kinds of ideas! I have some light woodgrain paper that would be a great background for these techniques! Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad you showed us how to tint paste with the ink stamps; I was struggling to colour my texture paste last night. I used acrylic paint and play sand. I now have a veritable rainbow of paste colours at my fingertips - thank you Natasha x
I was so happy to find that your video was on ink blending today. I am hosting a crop this next weekend & one of the techniques I will be demonstrating is ink blending! I really like the shifting of the stencil! I wanted to mention to you a couple of other things that you can do using stencils and the oxide inks. After blending a background, put a stencil on top of your background, then lay a baby wipe on top & lightly tap. When you remove the stencil, the baby wipe will have lifted some of ink and created that pattern on your background. Another technique starts out just the same. You create a background by blending your oxide inks again. When finished, spray your mat with some water. Choose a stamp & dip it into the water like you would usually do with your ink pad. Then stamp the blended background. The water on the stamp will then lift some of the ink off of the background creating a pattern the same way it did with the baby wipe previously. These are quick & easy techniques that really create a unique look! I recently purchased a card kit that features the technique of layering stencils. I have not used it yet but I will be giving it a go this week! Thank you again for all of the techniques and cards you share with us. It is very much appreciated by us!
I am an avid fan of your fabulous channel so I don’t understand how I missed this video when it was first put up, nevertheless it popped up on my “recommendations” am so happy that it did…….. you are a 🌟must dash am off to watch part 2 🤗
Thanks for sharing. I had forgotten some of these techniques- funny how you have to hear it a couple of times to remember it- I should remember that when parenting! LOL
Thank you so much for showing how to use a small number of supplies and make something (or four somethings 😉) super special! I was watching Tim Holtz live just before watching this. He addressed some of the issues about the size of his stencils. I’m anxiously waiting to see what you create with these!! ♥️
Oh interesting! I haven't seen his latest live video yet. I completely understand that they are meant for tags, not cards, but they would appeal to a much larger market if they were sized to fit with cards also..surely!? So we shall wait and see.
The 2nd stenciled picture was my favourite but I love all your pictures and I will definitely look forward to seeing what you create with all these beautiful pictures
I have the opposite problem. I bought some that are meant for cake stenciling and the pattern is small but the overall stencil is big. 😊 Can't wait to see the finished cards! Thank you for sharing! Janet
Absolutely beautiful cards. I find using tile grout from the pound shop works really well. I just add ink or paint for the colour that i need. As texture paste I think us quite expensive
Ive actually had my stencils out for the past few days.Today,i used the purple delight versaclair and the pink, they blended beautifully together, then added oxides to the mat, sprayed with water then smooshed it-the clair ink stayed perfectly, then splattered with gold drawing inks, love it & will be doing more.I like to use stencils in the 'correct direction' then turn it to the opposite way....tyfs xx
That is a really cool technique Tash!! It makes me want to revisit my stencils and have a play. I love it that you can tint modeling paste with the inks! ❤ These will make some beautiful cards! Can't wait to see what you do with these!
Tim's stencils were made originally for his no 8 tags. Tim generally doesn't use the whole stencil just bits & pieces in different parts of the tag for his layering techniques. Great video. Interesting to see so many different final products with the same stencil.
As someone else committed, these stencils are designed for tags, pretty much specifically the TH manila tags. Although he does make cards, he does so much layering and inking, I am not sure he would ever even use the entire stencil. No worries though. Your creativity will make it work.
This stencil is very nice but I would find it very frustrating like you Natasha lol, looking forward to seeing the second part of this card making video
Tim Holtz doesn't really do clean & simple cards-he does bits and pieces of this and that to give a lot of texture and variety. I rarely see him use a whole stencil image.
@@kevincook1356 This is just silly as you can't line it up when you've used a paste, or even paint, especially a pigment paint as it most probably will smudge. I won't be taking that chance, so will invest in larger stencils.
@@simonysinclair7163 What you buy is your choice. Not silly at all that his stencils are made this way. I have used his stencils for many different media and they work so well, love them!
These techniques are great. I don’t like the way Tim Holtz makes his stencils. I don’t think I need to have a stencil just for a tag. A full stencil will suffice. You make your tag and then stencil on it.
I generally like your videos. Sometimes I think you go a step or two to far and it sort of wrecks the outcome for me. I guess I'm a sort of basic, clean lines sort of carmaker. Thsnks!
Less than a minute in, I was curious as to why Tim Holtz stencils only cover 80% of a card front. And then I realized that they do not even ‘tile’! So it’s not as if you can list it up and place it next to where you just finished coloring to extend the pattern. Why would anyone even buy these?
I heard him say today on his live video the reason his stencils are the sizes they are is because he designed them to fit tags. I think he has two different sized stencils for two different sized tags. I think he might’ve also said he just uses different bits of the stencil at once & not the entire stencil - so that’s probably another reason that they’re not really card sized. Not very helpful for you, bit at least it might answer the why. 🙂
Thank you. Someone else actually mentioned this too, so I went and checked out his video, and yes, he said that you are basically meant to use 'parts' of the stencils for card making. Still if they were slightly wider then they would be far more versatile! Thank you for passing on the information though, much appreciated!
@@NatashaFooteCreative sometimes just knowing the why helps with the frustration. 🤣 However, I very much understand what you’re saying about them being just a little bit bigger. Have a great day!
Moving the stencil to the top right to create a 3D Effect is FANTASTIC ❤❤❤
Natasha, I love how you showed 4 different levels of techniques! I also like that you used the same colors so that people could compare apples to apples. 4 very different looks! Can't wait to see what you will do with them!

As a fairly new cardmaker, I find your "step it up" ideas so helpful. Looking forward to seeing the cards you turn these into!
Thank u for using the same colours & stencil for the comparison. It makes it soooo much easier to see the techniques you are showing. If you change the colour or stencil then that is what we would be drawn to rather than the technique. I’m looking forward to seeing the cards you make 😃😀😃

Thank you so much! It was very helpful to see different techniques on the same stencil.
I believe the Tim Holtz stencil you used matches up for you to use it all the way to the left then line it up on the right & keep going.
Super fun! I am thrilled with your imagination and creativity! I look forward to the follow up video with these made into cards! God bless!
They all look so different and pretty! Can’t wait to see you turn them into cards🌻

Very pretty! I know the stencils are made for tags, and that is why I haven't bought them. You did a beautiful job with these!

You are so talented

Great idea!
Loved the tape technique
Great backgrounds!! Look forward to your next video. 🥰

Lol on the ball Natasha I thought 3D as soon as you removed The stencil bit of a trick on the old eyes there.
You made those stencils SING, Tash.
Super backgrounds 😃
very bright and cheerful.
Looking forward to see you turn these into cards Natasha.
Looking forward to part 2
I found the first episode with the stencils!
Thanks so much! 🌷
I'm with you on how frustrating it is that they don't cover your page. Even worse, not all of them tesselate either.
I think his stencils are that side because the is more into tags vs cards
Hi Natasha, Tim Holtz stated in a live demo today that the stencils were originally created to be used on Tags that's why they are the size they are.
I love to stencil but never used modeling paste that will be my next toy to get.
So btfl..🥰🥰..thx
Stencils are made for tags/multimedia.
Is it for slimline cards?
The stencil might be more useful for a slimline card. 🤔
That’s a great idea! I have TH stencils and starting to make slimline cards due to expense of certain size envelopes. Thank you!
Tim Holtz doesn't really do clean & simple cards-he does bits and pieces of this and that to give a lot of texture and variety. I rarely see him use a whole stencil image.
Do u have water color plus stencil video??
Looks neat. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait till you make them into cards. ☺️
I think ther are made for slimline cards.
I never buy those stencils exactly for that reason!
Same with me.
Me three!
The stencils will cover more area, you just line up the edges of the images...look closely at the flower stencil, left and right sides line up!

It looks like if you started farther to the right you could have lined up the stencil a 2nd time on the left and made it fit the full page....no?
These techniques are great. I don’t like the way Tim Holtz makes his stencils. I don’t think I need to have a stencil just for a tag. A full stencil will suffice. You make your tag and then stencil on it.

Can you do the ink dip after the stencil?
Yes,but the stenciled pattern will run since the ink is water-soluble. Go play anyway!

Because he uses them for tags. And I like you hate that.
