people dont understand how Samoans have the hardest chins ever. Look at David Tua, Mark Hunt and Max Halloway... all have historically stout chins... David Tua literally ate right hands from Lennox Lewis for 12 rds and didn't even blink... Max Halloway has never been hurt in his decade plus of fighting in the UFC, and doesnt even have a single official knockdown, though Gaethje did drop him with a flash knockdown that wasnt counted.

His Ray Sefo fight will always be one of the craziest things I've ever seen in combat sports. It's like if the Max Holloway v. Ricardo Lamas "point at the ground and swing" moment occurred multiple times in one fight, was punctuated with one or more fighters willingly eating hard shots to the head and laughing it off, and with world class HEAVYWEIGHT KICKBOXERS.
That's normal for polynesians to smash each other and enjoy doing it and then maybe chill over a few drinks afterwards. In the pacific we say to kids "if you want to play, don't cry" which basically we grow up with that mentality. We're not afraid to bang for fun or for real haha. Watch the rugby fights too, just the norms haha.
This proves, a man with character can dig deep in the face of unfavorable & unfortunate circumstances, and rise above the situation life has given him. Gotta love a true champion spirit and rise from the bottom! Not to mention the highlight reels are AWESOME!

The second knockdown they showed of him while introducing him is just freaking insane. The amount of power he was hit with and still able to keep concentration and the power to knock him out. Man is a literal bus.
I have followed boxing all my life . I occasionally watched UFC , when it started . Did not have any knowledge of The K1 comp , because of living in Australia . When I saw MH in action , I thought " holy s..t " where did this guy come from ! " I am Samoan , and when I found out that Mark is as well , my heart and pride swelled . The hurt and pain from your past , should and will make you stronger for your future . Believe it !
Prove me wrong, K1 was far more exiting than any UFC bouts. You could feel that tension, violence, strenght and determination through tv set. Most mma fights have none of that.

My introduction to MMA came by way of JKD in 1992... I wrestled and boxed through my earlier years.. That being said, I have been a fan well before UFC 1. I have to say, after all of these years, Mark Hunt is/was one of the most natural fighters.. Add to that the cardio he had / has.. It's nuts.. But, again, he really had no legit training through most of his earlier years... Total freak of nature.. This video left out so many of his MMA fights, but its okay.. He'll always have my respect.. So, now being 46 yrs old, i remember a time where the internet wasn't really available yet, and the on TV stations here in the Netherlands, there were only about 12 channels airing at that time. But, experimental and sometimes pirated broadcasts would appear instead of some of the usual teletext crap late at night... Think i was about 13 yrs old, my parents were sleeping and i had sneaked down to watch TV, and see some of the more exciting stuff. I was lucky enough to catch that fight with Mark Hunt and Ray Sefo live, and i didn't have to understand the Japanese commentary to see what the hell was going on 🤣 I told some friends and they thought i was tripping, but i'll never forget that epic battle! Both guys are legends in my book.

The only way to really know, would be to measure every heavyweight boxer for their punching power, on the same day, on the same machine. Heavyweight boxers are always going to hit harder than kickboxers, it's all they train to do. Wilder I'm sure hits harder than Ngannou, and maybe other heavyweights hit even harder.
I loved Mark Hunt in the UFC. He seemed like a very laid-back guy who just happened to punch the shit out of people for a living. The amount of punishment he could and did absorb was ridiculous, and his power was amazing. The thing I respected the most about him is how he never dove onto an opponent once he laid him out and started hammerfisting until the ref pulled him off. He knew when he'd laid someone out before the referee did and didn't take any gratuitous extra shots. That's really rare in MMA. I hope he has a long and happy retirement, though with the sheer amount of blows he got hit with, I'm worried he'll end up like so many combat sports athletes, crippled by CTE and similar things.

The amount of punishment he could and did absorb was ridiculous, and his power was amazing. The thing I respected the most about him is how he never dove onto an opponent once he laid him out and started hammerfisting until the ref pulled him off. He knew when he'd laid someone out before the referee did and didn't take any gratuitous extra shots. That's really rare in MMA. I hope he has a long and happy retirement, though with the sheer amount of blows he got hit with, I'm worried he'll end up like so many combat sports athletes, crippled by CTE and similar things.
