  • Why is it that a children’s movie made in the 1990’s takes one of the most nuanced and profound looks into Gender Roles? It’s baffling how well Mulan is able to tackle its adult themes.
Hello. My name is Carson, and welcome back to the series, “A Film A Week. In this series, I will essentially pick out a film to watch and analyze every week, pick out an element or theme that stood out, and go into depth about it in a video. I will attempt to release an AFAW video weekly. This week I decided to talk about Mulan. Mulan is a 1998 American animated historical action-adventure musical produced by Disney during its famous Renaissance Era. The story is inspired by the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan found in the Ballad of Mulan written by Guo Maoqian. In it, Hua Mulan disguises herself as a man to serve in the army in her aged father’s place.

Hello, my name is Carson. Are you looking for some film analysis? Or some film analysis if you are British? Are you looking for video essays, commentaries, video game and movie reviews, A Film A Week’s, skits, and awfully painful jokes? Are you looking for a keyword-rich description of my channel that will hopefully help audiences discover my content in TH-cam searches? I'm so sorry that you're here. You really should be doing pretty much anything else. I stole this from BDG.
Thank you for watching this video, and I’m sorry for wasting your time if you are still reading this description.

Mulan is my hands-down favorite Disney Princess of all time and watching your video made me realize how much of art the movie is. I might rewatch it again. Great work!

Mulan never even existed. It's like looking to Huckelberry Finn for race relations

i can see where you're coming from. however, i dont think just bc a story is made up that its message is inferior or less viable than a message from a story that actually happened
