She was feeling well enough this week to fly to Kiev to support her daughters, so she was flown in to surprise the girls and she was present in the room during the performance. Their song "Lights And Shadows" actually is about their mom and they dedicated this performance to her.

their mother died only in july 2017, 2 months later. after going to Kyiv for eurovision she had to undergo intense radiation treatment due to her condition getting worse and decided she will not continue the raditation

just wanted to say that my country deserved a lot better than the 11th spot. You could really feel their emotions tonight and they made me tear up. Got goosebumps and let's not forget, what those three girls are doing is absolutely magical, so incredibly hard which makes them unbelievably talented. People should check out more videos of them, like their cover of 'Clown' and 'Emotions' and where they are echoing SING, by Ed Sheeran. I hope these will get everything they want in life, and I hope the world won't sleep on them. Bands like 5H and LM could learn a lot from them.

Didn't deserve the 11th place, but televoters are always corrupt. The jury placed you as 5th and that says enough. You did very well with the jury votes, because they really know what real music is and how good your voices are and how good your harmony is! Only the televotes were an obstacle. Just like last year. Guess we'll have to find out how to deal with that next year.

So many people say that the ESC is changing because of first Jamala and now Salvador. But the whole contest changed since The Common Linnets in 2014. No question about that. But about tonight: OG3NE rocked the stage and deserved a higher spot!👑❤️💎 They showed us real emotions and they are the queens of ESC 2017!💕

ESC had a few global shifts for the better. The first one came in 2007, after the abysmal 2006 contest. It raised the bad just as much to have at least 10-15 good songs per year. The second upgrade came in 2012 with Loreen's victory and competitors such as Iceland, Azerbaijan and Spain. After 2013, at least half the participants brought their A-game and the number of awful songs never exceeded 5-6 examples per year. The Common Linnets cemented that status in 2014, with artistry culminating first in 2015 with gems like Monster Like Me, Grande Amore and Rhythm Inside and then in 2018 with a plethora of memorable and emotional songs. 2019 was a great and diverse year and while 2020 is a slight downfall from 2018, it still holds up pretty well on it's own. The contest now feels like ions away from the cheesefest it was in the mid 2000s.
We didn't even reach the top 10. All because of the public vote. Otherwise we would've been 5th. Don't know what has happened.

This song was dedicated to the very sick mother (she had a rare bone cancer) of these wonderful talented sisters to give her hope and not to give up on life. The song was written by their father. Their mother was present during the final show, but sadly she died some time later :-(
