  • Hopefully most of my runs are good for my body, and good for my mind. Today felt like a run that was good for the soul. Cold, but no wind, clear, beautiful! Really one of those days where I'm thankful of where I live and thankful I can go out and run round it. It'll be one of those runs that stay with me and help me through the days of running in bad weather.
I'm still increasing long-run distance at a conservative but steady rate, trying to stay well away from any sort of IT band pain.
Today's run was 18km, which took me to some of the trails I have missed most, but also added quite a bit more ascent. My legs were tired by the end but not any kind of "injury sore".
I'm going to add another 1km next weekend, then scale back for the Christmas week, perhaps only doing a couple of 5kms and have a bit of a de-load and come into January refreshed and ready to start building even more miles.
There's a run I want to do at the end of January, part of the West Highland Way, it's a 22km route but has twice the ascent that today's run had. I'll be doing the distance by then, but the ascent will make it more of a challenge.

Great to hear from another new runner! Just don't overdo it like I did at the start!
