The big problem is that the big herbivores most people are familiar with are farm animals -- heifer and steer, pigs, sheep, horses, camels, llamas and regional variations ...and while even these can be dangerous, domestication makes them ESSENTIALLY DIFFERENT than their wild relatives and forebears. People underestimate what domestication is. It is NOT akin to taming a wild animal , which must be done individually even if born in captivity, and which is superficial. Domestication happens on a population level only (Ie you cannot domesticate an individual wild animal, only tame it) due to genetic change where,by using artificial evolution we essentially create an entirely new separate species. Though humans have tried to domesticate many types of animals, only about 20 or less species have the genetic potential to be domesticated, and we have already done them all. Though I suppose with sufficiently advanced biotechnology it'd be possible to domesticate others, but not the old fashioned way via animal husbandry. In addition, not all animal husbandry results in domestication Ie just because an animal is farmed doesn't mean it is domesticated, you actually need to breed specifically for domestication killing most of the individual animals born every generation. So animals that are farmed for other uses such as minks for their fur, or macaque monkeys for vivisection, are NOT domesticated, they are simply born and heed in captivity and many are tamed - which happens via nurture/environment...but are genetically wild the same as the ones on the forest. Because many people do not appreciate this, they think, "oh well a random Holstein cow on a farm in NJ let me pet her, so I bet a bison at Yellowstone will let me pet her" or "well my Uncle's Asian water buffalo is friendly, so the African cape buffalo who looks very similar will also be friendly". and they both get gored.

Also, I'd argue it's perfectly valid to say that [animal x] is endangered even if it has a domesticated line. Common sense will tell you that the *domestic breed* isn't endangered - humans tend to over produce animals we domestic - so any reference to endangered camels or buffalo or what have you is bound to refer to a wild population. Saying "the endangered WILD bactrian camel" might be more correct, but context is also important. Most people know that we tend to keep large herds of domesticated animals (even if not kept in "herds", we domestic animals that we find useful, and having one a handful of an animal isn't generally useful enough for us to spend centuries and generation after generation breeding into something with more human appeal/use) and are able to make the distinction themselves without people having to be overly precise. It doesn't need a hand and a finger to dragged a human like a ragdoll, wild is wild they are physically way superior against human's period...
Similar case happened in turkey. A brown bear attacked a goat herd, and the shepherd shot the bear with a rifle. The bear went after him and killed him, but the bear also died due to the gunshot.

I’m scared to death of walruses!! I have been to several aquariums and I was calmly looking into tanks via underwater glass walls. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a walrus rammed the glass, right where I was! If I had actually been in the water, I probably would’ve died of internal injuries. I wasn’t doing anything to provoke the walruses -I was just looking at the fish. I wouldn’t get near a walrus no matter how much I were offered!!!! 😰😰😰
It’s worse than you think. Two separate videos by two different channels on TH-cam talks about how a walrus feeds. The way the mouth of a walrus is designed means they can’t chew, so to get the meat of clams or crabs, they suck it out of them. And apparently walruses will suck out the brains of a smaller seal through the small seal’s nose. Now imagine a walrus grabbing a person, putting the person’s head to their mouth, and starts sucking. In fact a commentor in one of the videos stated that zoo keepers sometimes get their arms sucked in and ruined by a walrus.

I knew a farmer who punched a stud pony in the face. Due to family politics I won't say I reported him, but I can say that I might've maybe kinda mentioned it in front of someone that I knew would report it if that person maybe kinda sorta overheard me. There was a fine, the farmer was also forced to pay for the animal to be seen by a vet for a particularly awful eye infection, and then they rehomed the little guy. I warned that old man, "a stud has only one reason for living," but he ignored me and bought it for his 8 year old grandson anyway. When the stud bit the boy, the old dude punched it right in its sore eye. Sometimes I like animals more than people. I wished that pony had bitten him back, but then he likely woulda shot it dead, so there's something to be said for keeping my mouth shut until the time was right.

If I'm remembering correctly, the ones that were brought to Australia and parts of the US were African camels, the one-hump guys. Bactrians have two humps and are from Asia
Indian elephants can also be lethal they're quite calm placid & docile the majority of the time but all it takes is for you to mistreat it once & it'll either retaliate immediately or wait until you let your guard down.....& don't ever mess with them especially if it's a momma with it's baby........
It's easier if you know what signals the animal is sending out, that way you know if it's intentions are aggressive defensive or peaceful. When a wild animal seeks to have a peaceful interaction with you it's something to cherish.
The problem is some wild animals have learned to fake nonaggressive body language as a strategy for catching its preys/enemies off guard. Some groups of hyenas and jackals are examples of this. They usually pretend disinterest while strolling around packs of prey animals that rested. This will make the prey animals more at ease and also will keep them in a rested position. The hyenas and jackals would continue to just stroll near and around, seemingly not paying any attention, and do not try to chase or make a move on the prey animals. It is as if they are more interested in something else, something more important. But this disinterest stroll will suddenly change into a savage and bloody predation action the moment the hyenas and jackals found a near prey animal that gets distracted and carelessly not paying attention. Hippo sometime does this trick too. Just before hippo charge at something that makes them mad, they will pretend to look the other way a bit, as if they were going to turn away and leave, only to suddenly charges ahead with incredible speed. So you should never underestimate dan do careless interaction with any animal.
@@zeedeva1092 I do agree being complacent with wild animals is foolish but they do tend to know humans can cause them a great deal of harm. If in doubt have something in your hands that looks like it could be used as a weapon, predators tend to act more cautiously if it sees you holding something an item that could cause it enough harm to either kill it or cause it enough harm to make survival later a lot harder. I do know some animals do act a but more edgy when they see guns.

I saw a walrus at Sea World many years ago. It was on stage with a trainer doing tricks. I was impressed by its size. Photo don't do them justice.

yep, and they're only trying to defend themselves by fighting back in any sort of way imaginable. not that I don't blame all of the animals for doing this though to these people these animals were here long before us anyway which we as humans have clean forgotten about by thinking that we were at the top of the food chain and everything else when really we are not it is lions, tigers, bears and sharks and all carnivore animals that are on top of the food chain not us were at the bottom with herbivores and omnivores. what had happened to care and respect for all life on earth to the animal wildlife here what a pity that we have forgot about what our task was that was given to us by the heavenly father to take care of his animals and what do we do when his back is turned, we kill and ruin these poor innocent animals by over hunting them and cutting down all of the tree's all around the world and many other bad things too one of which is the dog meat markets in China and Taiwan and many other places in the world. animals such as dogs and cats and hamsters and gerbles and guineapigs and horses and lizards and many other animals that are not cows and ducks and chickens are not food their pets that need to be loved and cared for and not killed and eaten all of these animals all around the world need to be loved and cared for and respected by all of us we were not put on earth to butcher and mutilate the animals in sick cruel inhumane ways at all we were here to care for the animals which we have forgotten to do so because we became too money greedy and thought only of ourselves and not of the animals anymore which is sadly what is still going on in the world.

I knew a farmer who punched a stud pony in the face. Due to family politics I won't say I reported him, but I can say that I might've maybe kinda mentioned it in front of someone that I knew would report it if that person maybe kinda sorta overheard me. There was a fine, the farmer was also forced to pay for the animal to be seen by a vet for a particularly awful eye infection, and then they rehomed the little guy. I warned that old man, "a stud has only one reason for living," but he ignored me and bought it for his 8 year old grandson anyway. When the stud bit the boy, the old dude punched it right in its sore eye. Sometimes I like animals more than people. I wished that pony had bitten him back, but then he likely woulda shot it dead, so there's something to be said for keeping my mouth shut until the time was right.
And then everyone clapped.

@@TopOfAllWorlds 1. In reality they'd put the pony down for biting a child. It's not like they'd not have a wound as evidence. That's the law almost all over the world, even if not written, at least unspoken law.
2. Why did this comment only mention the reason why the farmer punched the pony so late into it? As if they care more about the pony than a child. A don't worry, I'm not tricked, I know you and others do really care more about the animal.

White and black storks often kill their young, and so do coots and moorhens. Some primates abuse or kill their young, and some fish and aquatic reptiles eat their own eggs and babies. Rabbit's can eat their young and male lions can kill baby lions.. Etc

I believe you are thinking of dromedary camels. I know there is an invasive population of them in Australia
If I'm remembering correctly, the ones that were brought to Australia and parts of the US were African camels, the one-hump guys. Bactrians have two humps and are from Asia

Indian elephants can also be lethal they're quite calm placid & docile the majority of the time but all it takes is for you to mistreat it once & it'll either retaliate immediately or wait until you let your guard down.....& don't ever mess with them especially if it's a momma with it's baby........

It's easier if you know what signals the animal is sending out, that way you know if it's intentions are aggressive defensive or peaceful. When a wild animal seeks to have a peaceful interaction with you it's something to cherish.
The problem is some wild animals have learned to fake nonaggressive body language as a strategy for catching its preys/enemies off guard. Some groups of hyenas and jackals are examples of this. They usually pretend disinterest while strolling around packs of prey animals that rested. This will make the prey animals more at ease and also will keep them in a rested position. The hyenas and jackals would continue to just stroll near and around, seemingly not paying any attention, and do not try to chase or make a move on the prey animals. It is as if they are more interested in something else, something more important. But this disinterest stroll will suddenly change into a savage and bloody predation action the moment the hyenas and jackals found a near prey animal that gets distracted and carelessly not paying attention.
Hippo sometime does this trick too. Just before hippo charge at something that makes them mad, they will pretend to look the other way a bit, as if they were going to turn away and leave, only to suddenly charges ahead with incredible speed.
So you should never underestimate dan do careless interaction with any animal.
@@zeedeva1092 I do agree being complacent with wild animals is foolish but they do tend to know humans can cause them a great deal of harm. If in doubt have something in your hands that looks like it could be used as a weapon, predators tend to act more cautiously if it sees you holding something an item that could cause it enough harm to either kill it or cause it enough harm to make survival later a lot harder. I do know some animals do act a but more edgy when they see guns.
