I own 2 Anbernic devices, I wanted this one when it released. So I bought two, and got one for review 😂

I've got a few myself. Not nearly as much as some people on here, though!

One thing you can do is enable integer scale overcrop, and what that will do is make the image integer scale to fit the screen better while shaving off a few pixels from the sides of the screen (like a real crt).
Great for 4:3 content because you really don't lose any important information and get to appreciate the screen better.

Personally, not for me. I can't stand it when any part of the screen is cut off. I knew the option was there, played around with a bit and even with moving the screen, it just bothered me way too much to leave that setting on. But for anyone who enjoys it, glad its there and everyone should just use the settings they like best.

I'm team Anbernic Cube so this device is bloody brilliant for those who aren't bothered by not emulating GameCube. Great critique. Thanks young lad.

I was thinking about a portable device and noticed that android phones, even cheap ones are more capable than these handhelds. All I had to do was buying a PS4 gamepad phone holder for like 2$ and you can play 16-bit with runahead 2 and up to the Dreamcast.
It's not a nock against these devices, but it's a great alternative to spend as little as we can to enjoy games with probably a device that is deemed unusable, which happens with most smartphones these days.
The DS4 phone holder is actually quite good as well.

These cheaper devices are all about the form factor. The square 720x720 screen on the CubeXX isn't something you can get on a phone. Built in controls are also usually more comfortable and convenient than having to lug a controller around. And most phones these days have weirdo super long aspect ratios and annoying camera cutouts in the screens.
If you're happy with your setup, that's totally fine, I'm just giving you the reasons people often prefer dedicated devices.
On the high end, the Odin 2 is cheaper than most phones using the same SoC and a year later is probably still the best dedicated portable emulation machine on the market.

@@InglebardGaming I'd argue that phone screens have higher resolution and are bigger than most of these handhelds, the standard being 6.5", and being wider, it's more versatile than having either a 4:3, 1:1 or 16:9 dedicated device.
I won't argue about the built-in controls, yes, they're more convenient, but then again, I'm mostly talking about that other phone people usually leave behind, which can indeed become a dedicated handheld gaming device.

Forget em all, just buy a Quest3 and emulate everything easily upto dreamcast and beyond
Playing retro on screens in vr is just amazing

Eh, personally, I'm not a VR fan. I find the equipment uncomfortable to wear and as someone who wears glasses... that makes things even worse. I just don't like the experience.
