Great looking boat, as you say a huge amount of potential. James you and sailor Sam have sure inspired me, a long forgotten dream to sail has resurfaced, now to get the training and the boat. Fair winds to you.
Yet another great video James. I'd love to meet you personally down here in Nz, and apologise face to face, for any unjustified negative comments I've made in the comment section. Sadly what's been said, cannot be unsaid. With the benefit of hindsight, there has been a few. Btw, my beer fridge is always full. Sometimes. Take care mate. Atb from down here in Nz.
I've always liked Tritons. I wound up with an Alberg because there were no good Tritons available at the time O was looking. Looks like that one has been sensibly kitted out, possibly James Baldwin may have gotten his hands on it, or maybe the previous owner just liked his style. Anyway, looks like a great little boat!
I have an Alberg 35, that forward hatch and cockpit look identical. Honestly, I can’t see much difference compared to the Triton…. What’s the difference?
Roller furling jibs were not around in the 1950s. This boat already has some modern improvements. That dodger looks like it made the sail through the white caps a lot more comfortable for you in the cockpit. It is covered with spray that would have landed on you if it wasn't there.
Hi guys you’re amazing there’s no way in the world I would get on a boat that I’ve never seen or even sailed on there what you guys are done anyway thank God made it back safe, Captain Cliff Logan City Queensland Australia
Not sure, maybe just 20+ hours of pushing the little engine through the Kauai channel while only making 3 knots. We used her the whole next day at lower revs (it doesn’t have an RPM gauge) and she did fine
@@SailorJames Without all the gizmos we have today. I'm looking at one for sale in Marina del Rey. Unfortunately it doesn't have the original port lights.
Just curious, what is Esteban's issue with the oil tanker moored off of Barber's Point? Honolulu is a strategic military base. Is it oil, or the military; or am I totally off target as to the reason of the middle finger salute?
It’s the fact that it adds about 5+ hours to the trip on small boats to have to push three to four miles offshore into what becomes legitimate ocean sailing and putting you into the direct currents and winds coming out of the Molokai channel because of the tanker and the Pearl Harbor no go zone. With todays technology there is no reason they need such a dramatic no go zone in front of Pearl Harbor especially considering how far up inside the bay all of the military installations are. It’s simply unnecessary and means boaters can’t hug the coast and are forced well out to sea putting them at risk especially considering there is no real safety net here in regards to a reliable tow boat service
@@SailorJames i really appreciate your thoughtful reply to my comment. Try sailing or flying around Honolulu when Obama is/was here. No thanks. However, I support the military. Mahalo to you!
@@SailorJames thanks for the reply. Ill look in LA for the one your talking about. What site did you see it at. Im looking at a restored alberg right now to. Hope to see you on the sea.
Turn the volume down on your background music. That shit will make me avoid your videos when the music is 5x louder than the voices. I saw a decent Catalina 30 for 1200 in long Beach on Craigslist this morning. I cannot believe I'm thinking of selling off my Harleys. Never thought the day would come.
Love those Tritons!!!
Nice voyage for a new skipper, well wear to him!
What beautiful scenery! I wish to someday be able to visit that island of pure bliss!
go to the other ones first, unless you are north shore, you are basically in LA
so by chance you would, travel to an island to not be on an island lol

Awesome video, thanks for taking us along!!
Keep them coming James

Great video! Love the blue water. The boat sailed pretty well, considering she is 62 years young! 💕💕💕
Hi sailor James and thanks for sharing ! Have a great week and take care!
Great video mate. Just sailing! Awesome
I have a 21 center console and your page gives me more appreciation for sailing. Thanks James!
Real Nice boat ya picked up there Bro!!
I remember seeing this boat advertised for sale
Awesome
I love Tritons
The wreck we dived Saturday is right about where you are at 9:36 in this video. Nice job on this.

When I was in Sea Explorers we sailed a Triton 27’. Great memories !!
What a slog! Great video as always
Took you guys a minute to get across. at least the channel was mellow.
Whew not used to the skinny craft but it's a sleek craft and seemed to have a sleeker wake

Yeah I didn’t say this video was from 1959 😂
Yes, there were roller furling jibs in the '50's, even earlier. They also had roller reefing mains.
@@dboboc Says who? Give and example.
I am often surprised by how narrow the beam is on those older boats. Must make for an interesting ride in choppy waters.
Very lumpy

That’s how delivery’s go 😂 it’s usually a nightmare, this boat did very well.
I really hope you reach 100k in the next 2 months.
🙏🏻 I wish 😂 , I am grateful for my growing subscribers though
What was the cause of the overheating??

Imagine the people or person who first sailed it to HI.
Not hard to imagine, it’s almost the same size as my boat that I sailed to Hawaii. A few Tritons have circumnavigated

what am I hearing 70'S disco
Pearson Tritan 29?

How much did he pay for the triton? Just like to know incase i find one in deicent shape.
He paid $4000 for it , which is absurdly cheap, there is one in LA right now for $7000

Yep

Half the people tell me to turn the music up and half tell me to turn it down , impossible to please everyone 🤷🏼♂️
