hearty stuff.. if there is ever a part 2 it should include a guy named Max Brito, who was paralyised from the neck down during a ruck for Ivory Coast v Tonga at 1995 wc. His name and story had such an effect that the following year england embarked on a short but resonating tour of cote d'ivoir & west africa (known as the last ever amateur tour). Max endured a torrid number of years coming to terms of what minute abilities life had left on him.
Amid an interview in 2007 he was described as unhappy in his current state of life, even going as far as to say ''It is now 12 years since I have been in this state. I have come to the end of my tether... If one day I fall seriously ill, and if I have the strength and courage to take my own life, then I will do it...This bloody handicap - it's my curse. It kills me and I will never accept it. I can't live with it and it's going to be with me for the rest of my life''
But things did start looking more hopeful in 2020 as it was heard he'd undergone a spiritual transformation which was helping him cope with his disability.
This time he said ''I would say there were 13 or 14 years of fog where I didn't know where I was. The accident was very violent. But after that I had a spiritual enlightenment and I understood that it was necessary to accept my handicap. And from that moment on, all the doors were open''

Not many will remember Ruben Kruger. Such a hard player and died before he turned 40 from brain cancer.
Let’s not forget the tragic death of Jerry Collins either. He was an amazing AB player that many Springboks pointed to as the main force in the AB forward pack in his day.

Axel's death ripped the heart out of everyone in Limerick City and County. Our Munster manager at the time and one of our greatest players ever. Let's face it, one of Ireland's best players. I'll never forget the tribute we held for him outside Thomond Park, as the hearse passed the stadium - on the way to his native Killaloe, County Limerick. We sang traditional Irish songs of old and mourned as one.

If someone is seriously questioning why Mandela handing over the trophy is emotional, then I have to wonder. Even non-Saffers know that was a special moment.
Why was Wilkinson's drop goal in there, though, and none of the other WC winning moments? All equally powerful, surely.
